Story
Penny gets along great with kids and other dogs. She warms up to people quickly and she is very smart. Penny loves going on walks seeing all the people. She also likes to play in the pool in our play yard. Penny`s personality is to always play. If you would like to meet Penny, call the LPCHS front desk or walk-in today to schedule an appointment! Penny`s review from one of our wonderful volunteers:`Penny was very enthusiastic to get out of the kennel. She greeted the other dogs with some barks and tail wags. She really wanted to play, but the other dogs didn`t feel comfortable enough to play with her until the halfway point of our walk. At that point, all of the dogs were more relaxed, so they easily played with one another. She listened to commands when her name was called. She was very excited to be out in nature, and she was tired enough by the end of our walk that she fell asleep in the back of my car on the ride back to the shelter. She pulled a bit, especially at first when she was full of energy, but overall, she was a very well-behaved pup.`

Story
Buttercup is a sweet heart but she is a little shy. She doesn`t like doing new things and will need time warming up. Buttercup needs a home that is quiet and patient. Buttercup is good with other dogs and loves cats! If you would like to meet Buttercup, call the LPCHS front desk or walk-in today to schedule an appointment! From her recent foster outing:`This Saturday LPCHS had arranged for one of their pups to pose for a drawing class at the Durango Arts Center. It is always challenging to pick the right dog (mostly because there are so many amazing candidates). We finally settled on Buttercup. Although shy, this 1 1/2 yr old female happened to be the perfect fit. It was my first time taking her in my car. She was uncomfortable, fidgeted and cried a bit on the way to the event. Most likely not used to automobiles. Once on 2nd Street, Buttercup, relieved to be out, found that there was a lot going on around us and remained nervous while we walked around the block. We showed up at the event early for her to get accustomed to her new surroundings. Once Buttercup got the lay of the land, she laid down on her bed in front of the students. The class was terrific, studious but fun. And with classical music in the background, Buttercup started to relax. I even caught her snoozing....She remained totally calm for the entire session, 1 and 1/2 hour and was finally greeted by the 8 people who took part in the class. Buttercup raised $80 for the shelter. We are so grateful to the people who donated and the Durango Arts Center. On our way back to the shelter, Buttercup was quiet and calm. Her confidence was definitely back after this interesting outing.`From another Foster Outing (11/6): Marido PinonAttachmentsNov 6, 2024, 10:59?PM (8 hours ago)to me, Liza, FosterToday, due to the Fire Alarm drill scheduled at the shelter, our volunteer coordinator made sure all dogs would have a friend to take them out for an hour or so, thus avoiding additional stress. I previously mentioned Buttercup, a resident at Humane. She was my buddy today. I was amazed to witness a pretty confident girl, ready to enjoy the River Path despite the snow and drizzle. Buttercup was wearing a very fitting outfit which might have helped her take the hedge off. We walked all the way to Home Depot where I needed to return an item. We met another 4 legged Humane resident in one of the aisles. Buttercup befri
