Story
If you are interested in OLIVIA or in adopting a pup in general, the first step is an adoption application. Download an adoption application here Please email the completed application to adoptionteam4.woofriver@gmail.com Please submit an application rather than an inquiry with no application attached. This adorable girl is OLIVIA! She is a sweet, sweet girl who can be a little shy when you first meet her. However watching her personality bloom as she becomes comfortable with her new surroundings is incredibly rewarding. OLIVIA is perfectly content to spend a lazy day on her dog bed watching a movie with her person, or, if you’re in the mood for some exercise, OLIVIA is there and ready. She absolutely loves going for walks and is learning how to walk well on a leash. OLIVIA is absolutely fabulous with other dogs. She is exponentially happier and more confident with canine companionship, so she is only available to forever families who have at least one other resident dog. She will fill your heart with joy and your life with happy memories for many years to come. Her $540 adoption fee covers her interstate health certificate and the cost of transport to the New England area. For an adoption application on OLIVIA click here Please email the completed application to adoptionteam4.woofriver@gmail.com. It typically takes us around 5 BUSINESS DAYS to process an application. We will reach out to you as soon as your application is processed. Thank you in advance for your patience. All of our dogs start their journey in Memphis, Tennessee where they remain in loving foster families until they are adopted. Once adopted, some pups stay local in Memphis. Many others travel via one of our transport partners to their new forever homes. We use Pet Express Transport (https://petexpresstupelo.wordpress.com) for our Nashville, Knoxville and New England adoptions. For our Midwest adopters, we have our own private transport. Breed selection is done in conjunction with two local vets and is not to be considered a guarantee but rather a well-educated decision from well qualified staff. Due to the extremely high volume of inquiries we receive, we ask that you request, complete, and submit an application before asking additional questions. We try very hard to include all pertinent information in our bios. We are excited to help you find your new family member. However, Woof River is 100% volunteer operated. We want to spend our time saving dogs and assisting those adopters who have taken the time to complete an application. Thank you for understanding. Please LIKE Woof River on Facebook! Wilma is ready to be adopted! This baby we were asked to help when they were dumped with parvo 😕 Parvo is deadly to puppies and with the help of our partner animal aid we were able to transfer her and her brother to our vet for treatment. They fought and survived! Her brother has since been adopted yet here she waits 😔 She is crate trained but will need help to work on her house breaking. If interested in adopting Wilma please fill out our application at mamasgonarescue.com If interested in fostering please send us a message with your address

Story
Bugs is your typical stubborn bully breed! He is sweet and playful to those he knows and trusts. He loves to run his zoomies in the yard! He will need to continue working with his trainer after adoption to ensure a successful transition and future! Current issues that need to be worked on: Bugs has issues meeting people. He is consistently working on impulse control and proper greeting etiquette. With his training he’s learned to relax in a social setting, but lifelong precautionary measures will need to be taken to ensure safety. He does have a history of attempted bites upon greeting and has been muzzle conditioned for this reason. Positive attributes: Bugs loves scratches & running around in the yard playing chase! He learns very quickly and is respectful of his commands. He loves food making him easy to train for most things. Animal sociability: He would be best in a home without other animals. Ideal home: Bugs would do best in a home dedicated to his needs. He can really be a sweet boy, but he needs someone who can help him shine! A dog saavy home is an absolute must. Someone who understands the breed and is prepared to manage him lifelong. Quiet in crate? Yes! The only time he makes a peep is when a human he doesn’t know walks by. But as soon as they’re out of sight, he’s quiet! He enjoys a peanut butter kong when left for a few hours but he isn’t fussy without! I keep a blanket and a hard chew bone in his crate for him to curl up with! Housebreaking (if known)? He has a solid schedule & only goes potty outside! House manners? He can be excitable but he goes to place & relaxes!

Story
Overall assessment: Kahlua is a sweet girl with a fun side! She has an opportunist personality in the sense that if she believes you are not paying attention, she will follow her impulses, so a dog-saavy home is a must. Current issues that need to be worked on: Kahlua loves to be loved, but she needs structure & management. She tends to try and micromanage her environment especially when energy is high. With training, she’s learned to relax more but this will need continued training and management. Positive attributes: She is sweet, playful, and loves going on adventures! Animal sociability: She seems curious about other dogs, but her tendency to micromanage makes her difficult to place with other dogs without someone who is very dog saavy. She is not good with small animals - cats, rabbits, etc. Ideal home: Kahlua would prosper in a home that takes is looking for an active companion that can also double as a couch buddy. She needs someone dedicated to continuing her training to ensure her success. Quiet in crate? Yes she only whines when food is being prepped - she loves to eat :) Housebreaking (if known)? Kahlua has a potty schedule & sticks to it beautifully House manners? She spends a lot of time on place in the house to avoid her opportunistic ways, but she has been doing well in her trainers home

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Meet Thelma! A kind, gentle soul who found herself at the shelter after being bred her entire life and then discarded of when she was too old to produce any more babies for the profits of her owners. Despite her cruel past, Thelma is extraordinarily kind, patient, loving and an overall joy to be around. She has been such a quiet, enjoyable house guest since being a part of TLC Animal Rescue. Thelma has integrated into her foster home wonderfully with both male and female pitties. She wags her tail at her foster siblings, sniffs, and then keeps to herself. She has had zero accidents in the house and is crate trained. Thelma would be a perfect dog for a beginner or a family with little to no dog experience. She is easy going and has so much love to give! Adopt Thelma ** Note: Thelma currently has a large mass hanging from her abdomen that we have had a generous donator step up and offer to pay for the surgical removal of. We suspect this mass is due to being a late spay and just a fatty mammary gland tumor, but will see the vet on 11/29 for a pre surgical consultation and have more information on this matter soon. Please do not let this deter you from adopting Thelma! She is a total gem of a girl and we suspect this is just another small hurdle for her to overcome before finally landing the happily ever after she so desperately deserves! Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.December 14, 2024, 12:05 am

Story
At almost two years old, Brownie has already shown great potential for being a loyal and devoted companion. He is incredibly affectionate and enjoys spending quality time with his human friends, whether it's cuddling up on the couch or going for long walks in the park. Brownie's foster family has been working diligently on his training, and he has made remarkable progress in learning basic commands and proper leash manners. Despite his young age, Brownie has already experienced some ups and downs in his short life. However, he remains resilient and optimistic, eagerly awaiting the day he can find his forever home. Brownie dreams of a place where he can truly belong, where he will be showered with love, care, and attention for the rest of his days. If you are searching for a loyal and affectionate companion, Brownie could be the perfect match for you. His playful spirit and gentle nature make him an ideal addition to any family, especially one with children and other pets. Brownie's forever home is out there, and he is patiently waiting for that special someone who will open their heart and provide him with the love and stability he deserves. If you are interested in giving Brownie the forever home he longs for, please reach out to the foster coordinator at fosters@sjras.org to setup a meeting with his current foster family. Together, we can ensure that Brownie's journey ends with a happily ever after, surrounded by the love and care he so desperately craves.
