Meet Diego. Diego is a young terrier with the sturdy build of a “velvet hippo” and the confidence of a dog who has never once checked a scale. At the moment he’s carrying about 20 extra pounds. We laugh about it, but the truth is Diego could really use a dedicated diet and… a few less fries. (Exercise. We meant exercise.) Despite his plus-sized situation, Diego is convinced he is a small, portable lap dog. Personal space is not something he believes in, and if you sit down, he will absolutely volunteer himself for cuddle duty. He is deeply affectionate with his people and happiest when he’s close enough to lean on you. Like a lot of terriers, Diego has opinions. When strangers act a little suspicious or move in too fast, he may give a quiet, rumbly “I’m watching you” commentary. It’s classic little-dog behavior — it just sounds a bit more dramatic coming from a dog built like a bowling ball with legs. What Diego really needs is a confident human who can advocate for him and politely tell the occasional stranger not to pet their dog. With someone who understands him, helps him stay on a healthier routine, and appreciates a dog with personality, Diego will be an incredibly loyal, hilarious companion. He’s part watchdog, part lap warmer, and 100% certain that he belongs right next to you. And ideally… nowhere near the fries. You can fill out an adoption application for Diego here: https://www.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/CAST/Dog to be pre-approved!
