LMQ LOVES his people and is fantastic with littles. Little foster girls are under 5 and they are besties. This good boi is great with other dogs; prefers the calmer furry friends. He has not been around cats but probably should steer clear from them as his prey drives suggests this. But, that is ok! Kids and dogs are a big deal. :) LMQ knows basic commands, eager to please and very food motivated. Edit to add, purses are not off limits when goodies are hiding in there. Conclusion is he is great at seek and find and likes the finer, organic kid treats. LOL! The young man is crate trained and potty trained. When left out he will leave your home as is and not disturb a thing unless it’s a tastey on the counter. But, I might steal a treat as well, especially if they smell good. An active family would be the very best scenario for LMQ. He loves attention as well as giving it. He does require a 6ft fence or responsible pet parent on the other end of a very long leased/leash. Although I may look like One-Eyed Willie, I’m more Goonie than pirate. I’m estimated to be 12 years old, but don’t write me off because I can still walk briskly and play and explore. That said, my favorite pastime is keeping the sofa cushions warm while snoring – but not in a log-sawing way, it’s a soothing snore, I promise. I’m fully housebroken and Doggy Door Certified (if there was a certificate for that, I’d have it with honors). I love a fenced yard where I can explore and enjoy the sun and roll in the grass. I love to go on car rides, too. I’m great with other dogs – I’m currently living with 7 other dogs ranging in size from 25 to 65 pounds – but I’m not really a fan of the felines. I haven’t yet met a person I didn’t like, so long as they give me happy scritches. My left eye had to be yeeted. There was a ton of pressure in it and my foster mom gave me meds and took care of it until the eye just quite literally died. I am SO happy to be relieved of that annoying, stupid eyeball. This is Diego! He is 2 years old and around 50 pounds. He has been waiting soooo loooong for his forever family!!! Diego is well behaved, loves other dogs, tolerates cats, great with kids, amazing in a crate and potty trained!! He is shy at first but warms up quickly, you just have to give him some time. He is currently working on walking on a leash better (he likes to pull as he is nervous) and is doing great!! Daily walks at the park, which he loves, is helping to build confidence as well as work on leash skills. He loves to play; with other dogs, in the water, with toys of all kinds. He just wants to have fun and a family of his own. Diego is such a good boy and deserves a family of his own! He just turned 2 years old in December. You just have to meet him . He is a super sweet boy who needs more love and attention that we can give him. He had severe separation anxiety at first, but I was able to take him to work and work from home and he has improved a ton. Due to unforseen circumstances, I had to go back to work somewhere I cannot bring him, which leaves him stuck in a crate for hours. He would do best with an experienced owner that can ease his anxiety, or with someone who can be with him a lot more frequently at home. He deserves more than I can give him. He has been great with different dogs he has met, great with the cats in our house, as well as with my children. He has done great meeting people outside of the home, but has struggled a bit with fear of strangers coming into the house. He loves kisses, treats, bones, stuffies, and gets hilarious zoomies. I want to give him the life he deserves, if you think this is you, please let me know. We would both be forever grateful to find the perfect fit.

Hey, I'm Cheerio! I came to the shelter from a really neglectful situation. I was super skinny, tethered to a heavy chain, and kept outside. Luckily, I got rescued and made my way here to PCHS where they have taken good care of me. I have gained 20+ lbs and am much better! I am an absolute sweetheart and love people. I've had a rough start in life but I'm hoping a special someone will come along and see the good in me. Some pets are in foster homes or may already have an appointment scheduled, so the appointment is important to make sure I will be available to meet you when you come. Polk County Humane Society is located in Bolivar, Missouri, but also makes transports to the Denver, CO, Des Moines, IA and St. Louis areas twice monthly. For potential adopters in those areas, we can do a virtual visit using FaceTime or another app. Just request an appointment using the same link, but note that you want the visit to be virtual. We will call you at the time of the visit once it is confirmed. For long distance transports to Colorado and Iowa, there is an additional $100 fee to cover the cost of the transport ($65) and a health certificate from a veterinarian ($35). For transports to St. Louis, the additional fee is $50 to help cover gas. Going that last mile home for our sweet pets! All of our pets are neutered or spayed, have vaccinations appropriate for their age, treated with flea/tick/heartworm prevention, dewormed and dogs are also microchipped. #adoptdontshop ##2196587##
