Story
Hi!  I am Diego!   I am 1.5 years old, the rescues best guess at my breed is LOVABLE, okay okay if you have to label me as something, lets call me a Pitbull and Lab mix.  The most important parts about me is my PERSONALITY!   When I get up in the morning, I love to run, jump and hop around while outside with the other dogs.........some days its almost like I have springs on my feet so I can go faster and do quicker circles while jumping around.  When my humans are working, I like to just take a rest by their feet or next to the desk so I can hear all the details about work conference calls AND can nudge my foster mom when its time for a break.   A little about my past, I didn't want to put this but my foster mom said everyone wants to know as much about me as possible......so here it goes.  I was left behind in a shed, when my humans moved at around 12-weeks.   I found myself in an outside pound until January 20th (I remember that magical day like it was my birthday); I had been in the shelter for 9-months......it was SOOO loud, dogs barking all the time, nice humans to feed me twice a day, but very minimal interaction or basic training.   So although it felt like my birthday it was VERY scary, all these humans wanting to love on me, a crate with a warm bed, potty outside all new concepts for me.   Enough about my past, I am a handsome boy (my foster momma tells me this everyday), I still have a few quirks that we are working on and will be a work in progress for my new forever family, BUT I have SOOOOO much love to give and SOOOO many adventures I am ready to take with the right family.   Quirks you ask?  Well, I used to take time meeting new people, but last night we had people over and I walked right up to the adults and humans, to let them know I wanted pets.   I grabbed some pets and walked away, only to realize I liked these new humans so I went back for more pets.  I guess my foster mom was right, most people are friendly….i am just glad I finally believed her :)    Now on to some of my other new adventures, did you see my video?    I have realized I &#226&#157&#164&#239&#184&#143 &#226&#157&#164&#239&#184&#143 the sprinkler, even if it’s supposed to be watering the grass, I like to jump and catch the water.   Diego’s adoption fee is $150.00 which includes all shots, neuter, microchip and 1 month of heartworm preventative. If you are interested, please complete the  Adoption Application  on our website at  a4apetpantry.org Disclaimer: Visual breed identification in dogs is unreliable, so for most of our dogs, we are only guessing at breed mix.   November 5, 2024, 8:49 pm

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Meet Lightning McQueen! This is your complete love bug wrapped up burrito style in a very handsome guy! LMQ LOVES his people and is fantastic with littles. Little foster girls are under 5 and they are besties. This good boi is great with other dogs; prefers the calmer furry friends. He has not been around cats but probably should steer clear from them as his prey drives suggests this. But, that is ok! Kids and dogs are a big deal. :) LMQ knows basic commands, eager to please and very food motivated. Edit to add, purses are not off limits when goodies are hiding in there. Conclusion is he is great at seek and find and likes the finer, organic kid treats. LOL! The young man is crate trained and potty trained. When left out he will leave your home as is and not disturb a thing unless its a tastey on the counter. But, I might steal a treat as well, especially if they smell good. An active family would be the very best scenario for LMQ. He loves attention as well as giving it. He does require a 6ft fence or responsible pet parent on the other end of a very long leased/leash. hhpr.rescuegroups.org for the required application. $275 adoption feeVisit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.October 24, 2024, 11:19 am

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. My name is Hank, aka Mr. Hank, aka Hanky Panky, aka Hanker Pankers. Although I may look like One-Eyed Willie, I’m more Goonie than pirate. I’m estimated to be 12 years old, but don’t write me off because I can still walk briskly and play and explore. That said, my favorite pastime is keeping the sofa cushions warm while snoring – but not in a log-sawing way, it’s a soothing snore, I promise.  I’m fully housebroken and Doggy Door Certified (if there was a certificate for that, I’d have it with honors). I love a fenced yard where I can explore and enjoy the sun and roll in the grass.  I love to go on car rides, too. I’m great with other dogs – I’m currently living with 7 other dogs ranging in size from 25 to 65 pounds – but I’m not really a fan of the felines. I haven’t yet met a person I didn’t like, so long as they give me happy scritches.    My left eye had to be yeeted. There was a ton of pressure in it and my foster mom gave me meds and took care of it until the eye just quite literally died. I am SO happy to be relieved of that annoying, stupid eyeball. I LOVE BEING A GOONIE PUP! I still do all of the things I was doing and more because I am more comfortable. PLEASE DON’T PASS ME UP. I already love you. Story
This is Larry a 68lb pittie mix lap dog who's looking for his forever family through ActNow! Rescue. He'll keep himself entertained for hours and when he's ready to crash he'll crawl right up onto your lap whether you're ready or not because he's just a big cuddly boy! He loves his zoomies and would do very well in a big yard with a fence. He hasn't been cat or kid tested. He wasn't terribly interested in meeting the other dogs in my house but once he did he was super playful! He would be a great family dog ❤️ Please fill out an application at actnowrescue.net

Meet JuneBug. This sweet girl is about ONE year old and ready for her forever home. She and her pups were dumped in a farmers field in Francois County and he threatened to shoot them. Luckily the rescue was able to save them. Junebug was very skittish, underweight and full of fleas, ticks and worms After many months of antibiotics, good food and TLC JuneBug has blossomed into an absolute doll She is great with other dogs and would love to find her forever home. Please contact her foster mom at kathysemail16@gmail.com Applications can be filled out at actnowrescue.net

Story
I'm a sweet boy. I was pretty skinny when I first came to Polk County Humane Society, but I'm catching up now. I'm still getting my bearings. I'm not sure about all of these other dogs around here. I'd like to be in a home of my very own! If you're interested in adopting me, fill out an adoption application online at www.polkcountyhumanesociety.org/adopt where you will also find a link to reserve me for an appointment. Some pets are in foster homes or may already have an appointment scheduled, so the appointment is important to make sure I will be available to meet you when you come. Polk County Humane Society is located in Bolivar, Missouri, but also makes transports to the Denver, CO, Des Moines, IA and St. Louis areas twice monthly. For potential adopters in those areas, we can do a virtual visit using FaceTime or another app. Just request an appointment using the same link, but note that you want the visit to be virtual. We will call you at the time of the visit once it is confirmed. For long distance transports to Colorado and Iowa, there is an additional $100 fee to cover the cost of the transport ($65) and a health certificate from a veterinarian ($35). For transports to St. Louis, the additional fee is $50 to help cover gas. Going that last mile home for our sweet pets! All of our pets are neutered or spayed, have vaccinations appropriate for their age, treated with flea/tick/heartworm prevention, dewormed and dogs are also microchipped. #adoptdontshop ##2196587##
