Story
This is Larry a 68lb pittie mix lap dog who's looking for his forever family through ActNow! Rescue. He'll keep himself entertained for hours and when he's ready to crash he'll crawl right up onto your lap whether you're ready or not because he's just a big cuddly boy! He loves his zoomies and would do very well in a big yard with a fence. He hasn't been cat or kid tested. He wasn't terribly interested in meeting the other dogs in my house but once he did he was super playful! He would be a great family dog ❤️ Please fill out an application at actnowrescue.net

Story
Meet JuneBug. This sweet girl is about ONE year old and ready for her forever home. She and her pups were dumped in a farmers field in Francois County and he threatened to shoot them. Luckily the rescue was able to save them. Junebug was very skittish, underweight and full of fleas, ticks and worms After many months of antibiotics, good food and TLC JuneBug has blossomed into an absolute doll She is great with other dogs and would love to find her forever home. Please contact her foster mom at kathysemail16@gmail.com Applications can be filled out at actnowrescue.net

Story
I'm a sweet boy. I was pretty skinny when I first came to Polk County Humane Society, but I'm catching up now. I'm still getting my bearings. I'm not sure about all of these other dogs around here. I'd like to be in a home of my very own! If you're interested in adopting me, fill out an adoption application online at www.polkcountyhumanesociety.org/adopt where you will also find a link to reserve me for an appointment. Some pets are in foster homes or may already have an appointment scheduled, so the appointment is important to make sure I will be available to meet you when you come. Polk County Humane Society is located in Bolivar, Missouri, but also makes transports to the Denver, CO, Des Moines, IA and St. Louis areas twice monthly. For potential adopters in those areas, we can do a virtual visit using FaceTime or another app. Just request an appointment using the same link, but note that you want the visit to be virtual. We will call you at the time of the visit once it is confirmed. For long distance transports to Colorado and Iowa, there is an additional $100 fee to cover the cost of the transport ($65) and a health certificate from a veterinarian ($35). For transports to St. Louis, the additional fee is $50 to help cover gas. Going that last mile home for our sweet pets! All of our pets are neutered or spayed, have vaccinations appropriate for their age, treated with flea/tick/heartworm prevention, dewormed and dogs are also microchipped. #adoptdontshop ##2196587##

Story
*Requires fenced yard and be Only dog as he is dog selective but does live with a female dog currently*   Beau is a 5-year-old pitbull/hound dog mix. He is around 80 pounds. He previously lived in an apartment with his family (including a 2-year-old child and a smaller dog) but they wanted him to have a chance to be more active. He currently lives with his foster mom and another large female dog.    Beau is a very happy boy that loves to play ball and loves treats!  He rides well in the car. He behaves well going to the vet or to get a bath. He knows simple commands (sit, stay, lay down, wait) and goes in his crate easily when asked. He is food motivated and trains easily. He is happy to sleep on the couch or in bed with you. He is very affectionate and loves to snug.    Since being displaced from his original home he has developed anxiety.  Beau has overcorrected with other dogs (male and female). He has barrier reactivity (if someone/something is on the other side of a fence or window) but is happy to greet anyone he meets once he can be close to them. He is a very well behaved, loving dog when he is in his “safe place”.  Beau is now muzzle trained to allow him to be safe when out of the home or when meeting strangers.  Beau also has a well-controlled lung condition that generally doesn't cause him any trouble but does require prescription medication (<$10 for 90 day supply).    Beau needs a person or family who is willing to continue training with him and can be understanding of his needs. He currently lives with a dog that he gets along with perfectly, but we are limiting him to be an only dog upon adoption. He will need a fenced yard (preferably higher than 4 feet) so he can be active as he loves to play ball and run around and sniff.     He has SO much love to give and he hopes to find his forever family soon.   ...       If you are interested, complete the  Adoption Application  on our website at  www.NeedyPaws.org  and we will contact you.  Adopters must live within an hour’s drive of St. Louis, MO. Beau’s adoption fee is $275.00, which includes up-to-date vaccinations, heartworm testing and preventative, spay/neuter and microchip.
