Meet our sweet, special boy Eddie. Eddie has been through the ringer let us tell you! Eddie came to us paralyzed after being hit by a car. Our team worked their wonders and had a fantastic foster step up to help him with his care. Now he can walk and run, just has a little wobble to his walk. Eddie loves other dogs and requires a home with one. He has a slightly enlarged heart and will be a special needs boy for life, however long that life may be. He loves people and going on walkies! Cats are a hard bargain with him. Some don`t bother him and some he likes to chase after. He absolutely adores kids! Dogs up for adoption at the Hawk Creek Animal Shelter are spayed/neutered, microchipped, heartworm tested negative (if age appropriate), given initial vaccinations (a booster may be needed), given flea, tick and heartworm preventative, & dewormed. Story
I adopted her around 8 weeks old from a shelter. She is a very high energy and lovable pup, but with that needs lots of attention. She loves going to the dog park so gets along well with other dogs easily. Her favorite thing to do is play tug o' war. She loves exploring so daily walks were always our thing. Shes definitely gets bored easily though, combine that with being a chewer we go through toys quickly. She has had some training classes. She knows basic commands. She is easily excited and does still nip sometimes. She is very protective, loyal, and cuddly when she calms down. I want her to go to a bigger home, one with a yard for her to run, kids for her to play with. I want a family who has time for her, perhaps another dog for a friend. I want her to be as loved as she is here but with more room and space to be her wild and crazy self. She's a handful, but a lovable one.

Gabriel 1.5yr M. $200 plus tax, 60lbs. Limited vision if any. Very sweet boy, just goes full speed ahead. Loves snacks and toys. Big mooch giver. New to the shelter, unk with kids/cats/dogs. Walks well on leash. We do our very best in providing truthful information about our adoptable dogs. If you do not see information about one of our dogs’ personalities, it is because we do not know much about them yet. We do appreciate a dog meet and greet to see if the dogs are compatible, an appointment is helpful but not required. We can complete a cat introduction at the shelter in a safe manner to get a sense of the dog’s behavior towards cats. With that knowledge, we will provide a blanket statement that you are ultimately responsible for keeping your cat safe. We recommend crate training for all our dogs while they adjust to a new home environment. Please bring along your family to meet the dog you’re looking at to see that it is a good fit. Also bring landlord permission for adopting a dog which includes any breed or weight restrictions.

Story
Scarlet is a young suspected Pit Bull terrier mix who came to us with her non-littermate sister, Matilda. They were found in another city as as impound pups and we took them in to spare their lives. Scarlet is gorgeous. She has the most beautiful red/brown mahogany coloring. Scarlet loves people - she loves attention, to be pet, and loves to give big kisses. She also loves treats and playing outside. She has a lot of energy and has some growing to do - not a lot - but some. She does need some training - someone to work with her and teach her some boundaries and rules, such as not jumping on people. She is super smart though and we have no doubt at all that she will pick this up quickly. Because she has a lot of power in her jump, she may not do great with younger kids who are more susceptible to being knocked over - at least until she is trained. She is still young and is still learning to save her potty for outdoors. Occasionally she will have an accident or two. We are working on this with her. Scarlet will be spayed shortly and receive her rabies vaccination. She is up to date on her distemper and bordetella vaccinations. She has received her latest monthly dose of flea & tick preventative and will be tested shortly for heart worm, Ehrlichia Canis, Lyme's and Anaplasma (4DX). Scarlet came to us with Matilda and the two have done well together. We do not know how she would do with other dogs as this is something we do not test at the shelter due to insurance limitations. Scarlet does not seem to mind the other dogs in the shelter though. We do not know how she would do with cats. She is young and curious about the world around her. Scarlet is simply waiting for the right people to come in and meet her and fall in love with the amazing and beautiful girl that she is.
