Story
Phoenix came to Paws and Claws looking for a chance to find a forever home. This has been something that has eluded Phoenix for about 6 years. She has not had an easy time in life but she has not let this break her spirit! She would love to have a home where she could cuddle up in some blankets or cuddle with her humans. Phoenix had either a stroke or developed nerve damage to the left side of her face. This does not hurt her or affect her in any way other than the left side of her face droops a little. We just think it adds to her charm! Phoenix would do best in a home with no small dogs or cats as she may just be a bit too much for them. The staff do think that with slow and proper introductions that she could live with a medium to larger size canine in her home. If you think she is the right fit for you, apply for Phoenix today!Adoption fee is $350 + $30 microchip fee + tax

Story
***Duck is in a foster home. To meet him please submit an application and a staff member will contact you to set up a time to meet him!***Say hello to Duck! A certified good boy from the pond with the happiest waddle you`ll ever see. While genetics weren`t on his side with having severe hip dysplasia in both hips. He doesn`t let that stop him from being a goofy, happy, playful, lover boy. He would do well as a single duck while he learns to walk and run more like a dog and less like a mallard. Hydrotherapy sessions would do him wonders and he truly swims like duck so you`ll love to watch him paddle. Walks, hikes and swimming are all encouraged to help regain muscle in his legs as well as any other forms of physical therapy. He is a deserving pup and just needs the right person with the time and attention it takes to help this boy finally enjoy being a dog.He can be a little protective with toys and food so some training would be beneficial for him. He likes his people and can enter your personal space so fast with more kisses than you`d expect. Duck can also be the biggest drama queen and will whine to you all about it. His activity is somewhat limited in that he only has trouble pivoting on hardwood floors and will lay down when he`s had enough. He can run very well and goes up and down stairs easily but higher furniture is still a bit of a struggle. He has had a right FHO and will need to obtain more muscle in the right leg before receiving his left FHO. If Duck sounds like the perfect pup for you, apply today!Adoption fee is $250 + $30 microchip fee + tax

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Rowen came to us on 4/23/2022 from our friends at the Rescue Network after he was rescued from a reservation in South Dakota. He's now a long term resident who's been overlooked, which is a shame. Having been with us for so long, one of our volunteers was curious about his breed mix and decided to find out with a dog DNA test. He's a pit bull mix with about a quarter of German shepherd and his appearance does hint at these results. He's a big boy who's aged out of puppyhood, but is still a lot of fun and likes to play hard. Rowen loves people and would be a great walking/running companion. Rowen is fully vetted and his $125 adoption fee is sponsored. Rowen is doing really well with basic training but does forget his manners sometimes. He needs someone who is willing and able to provide him with the exercise he needs, along with consistent training and boundaries. He is strong and active. He's a happy and outgoing dog with a slight mischievous streak that is kinda endearing. Cats? Most likely a no for him. He's looking for an adult only home. Teens are fine. He will require regular exercise to keep him happy and well balanced. Watch a TikTok video featuring Rowen below! https://www.tiktok.com/@happy.critter.ranch/video/7204912518278565163 NOTE:  Adoptions are done via private appointment once an application has been completed and approved. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Rudy, aka Rootin'Tootin'Rudy and the Rudinator, came to the shelter as an owner surrender on 11/6/2022. The woman had originally found him as a stray in a rural area. She was going to keep him as no owner was located. She decided that Rudy was just too energetic and strong for her to handle. He does have a slight impairment when it comes to his eyesight, perhaps due to an injury he sustained at one time or maybe a genetic thing. He has been vet checked and neutered and his fee is $125. Nothing slows Rudy down. He's a happy and rambunctious dude who literally bounces through life. He will need a lot of basic training and exercise. He keeps his kennel clean at the shelter. An adult only home would be best for Rudy (teens are okay). He is looking for a home with no other animals. A fenced yard would rock Rudy's world! Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Alma is a pit bull mix who is now going on 6 years old and has had quite the history with us. In 2020, at around a year old, we first received her from the city pound after she was held there and never claimed by an owner. She was with us for over a year and was adopted in January 2022. Her owner's situation changed drastically in 2023, so Alma was returned in July 2023 after 18 months in her home. It was hard for both of them, as Alma (known in her home as "Pretty"), was very loved by her owner.  Alma did very well in her home. It was a fairly quiet environment with just Alma and the lady who adopted her. Alma did tend to be pretty protective of her person as it was just the two of them. We do think she would do best in a similar environment. She does seem to respond best to women. She's looking for an adult only home (teens are okay). No other animals. Alma is strong and active and will require regular exercise. Many of our volunteers have a soft spot for her and would like to see her get back into a home for good. She has been fully vetted and her fee is $125. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Story arrived as an owner surrender on 10/4/2023, when she was still under a year old. Before she came to us, she'd already been through several homes that didn't give her stability or everything she needed. We named her Story because she already had quite the story to her life for such a young dog. She is shy, but our volunteers have been working with her. She's a petite pit bull type mix, maybe with lab and other breeds. Her fee is $150 and she has been vet checked, spayed, and chipped. Story does need basic training. She hasn't had a lot of work on leash walking but is slowly getting the idea. She's looking for a somewhat calm home in which she won't be left alone for long hours. She needs someone who is ready, willing, and able to work with her on proper socialization and confidence. She is doing really well with other dogs and is gaining confidence. We're thrilled with her progress! Cats? We're not sure. Kids over 10 would be best. NOTE:  Adoptions are done via private appointment once an application has been completed and approved. You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Ingrid is a friendly and stocky pit bull type gal with a beautiful brindle coat. She arrived on 10/23/2023 as she was found "stray", if not abandoned, at a local park. She was never claimed by an owner after fulfilling the legal hold time with us. She is around 3 years old and not too large, at around the 50 pound mark. She has been vet checked and spayed and her fee is $125. Ingrid enjoys the company of people. She would do best in an experienced adult only home (teens should be fine). We do feel that she would prefer to be the only pet in the home. Story
Meet Gracie! This sweet lady came to us from a valued rescue partner when they realized she needed a change of scenery. Gracie is deaf and because of that can get nervous or startled easily. However, once she knows and trusts you she becomes a sweetheart of a girl. She enjoys going on walks with volunteers and she has pretty good leash manners. In her kennel she likes to settle into her blankets. She has not been dog or cat tested at this time. Due to her being deaf and startling easily we would recommend a home without small children. If you have experience with a deaf dog or if Gracie seems like she could be a good fit for you, please apply for her today!Adoption fee is $350 + $30 microchip fee + tax
