Story
I`m Peter, a black and white mixed breed boy! I came to PCHS when I needed a soft place to land and to help me find something called a `furever home`. I`m not sure what that means but the staff promise me I will find it soon! I hope they are right as I have so much love to give. I love being around people, although I must admit I do need some work with the concept of `4 on the floor`. But I can`t help it as I just want to express my excitement and can`t contain myself! I have loved making doggy friends here at the shelter and love to wrestle with some of my kennel neighbors. I have been introduced to a lot of different people as well and have done well with all of them. It is currently not known if I do well with cats. If I sound like I could be a great addition for you, ask for Peter today!***Peter can get a little protective of his toys with other dogs around. However, he seems to have no problems when people take toys from him. He will need a little `tuning up` in the sharing department with his canine friends***Adoption fee $350 + $30 microchip fee + tax

Story
Joe is currently housed at Rochester Animal Control. This handsome fella is Joe, and he is in need of a forever home! He`s a sweet boy who was found out on his own, and taken in to the Rochester Animal Control. He`s been patiently waiting for his family to claim him, but unfortunately it does not appear that will be happening. His impound time has passed, and now he`s looking to the future! He`s seen the vet and gotten his vaccines and a check up, and now he`s ready to start looking for his forever family. The vet believes he`s around 5 years of age, so he`s through the wild puppy stages, but still has plenty of energy for fun adventures with his family! If you think Joe is the one for you, apply online! Joe does well with other mellow dogs who react nicely to meeting him, but he does not like reactive dogs. He should do well in a home on his own, or with a social dog. He should meet any potential doggie siblings prior to adoption. Joe cannot go to a home with cats Applications for adoption can be found on the homepage of the website. Once you have submitted your application a PCHS staff will contact you regarding an appointment to meet the animals you are interested in.*Adoption fee: $50 + $30 microchip fee + tax

Story
Meet Tina, a sweet girl with a sad story. Tina and her brother had been left by their family, and her brother was struck by a car and did not survive. She was so scared, it took weeks of dedication before she was able to be safely trapped and brought to an impound. Once she got into the car, she immediately fell asleep because she knew she was safe. Tina has recently arrived to PCHS so that we can help her in her journey, and work to find her forever family. One who will not let her down, like she has been let down in the past. Tina is so sweet and loving, and she cannot wait to share that love with her very own family. If you think Tina is the perfect addition to your family, apply online! ***At this time Tina does not seem to be a fan of other animals. It is highly recommended that she be the only pet in the household***Applications for adoption can be found on the homepage of the website. Story
We got Nico from a breeder as a puppy and he has lived with us all of his life. He is a great dog. He is affectionate and friendly. He walks great, loose leash, with his prong collar on. Great hiker, stays right near you off leash. He knows all basic commands and a few extra too. He loves to cuddle. He can be pushy with our 19 lb, older dog, so I recommend he only live with big dogs. He loves to play with a few other big dogs from our neighborhood. They play rough, and make a lot of vocalizations, but they have a great time. He can be pushy with younger children, and knock them over, so I also recommend he only live with older children (approx 10+). His best friend if our 14 year old (she was 10 when we got him). The only reason we are looking for a new home for him is that our daughter is currently in a long term, heath care facility and we need to consolidate our emotional, physical, and financial obligations to care for her. He does have skin allergies and requires allergy shots.

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Rowen came to us on 4/23/2022 from our friends at the Rescue Network after he was rescued from a reservation in South Dakota. He's now a long term resident who's been overlooked, which is a shame. Having been with us for so long, one of our volunteers was curious about his breed mix and decided to find out with a dog DNA test. He's a pit bull mix with about a quarter of German shepherd and his appearance does hint at these results. He's a big boy who's aged out of puppyhood, but is still a lot of fun and likes to play hard. Rowen loves people and would be a great walking/running companion. Rowen is fully vetted and his $125 adoption fee is sponsored. Rowen is doing really well with basic training but does forget his manners sometimes. He needs someone who is willing and able to provide him with the exercise he needs, along with consistent training and boundaries. He is strong and active. He's a happy and outgoing dog with a slight mischievous streak that is kinda endearing. Cats? Most likely a no for him. He's looking for an adult only home. Teens are fine. He will require regular exercise to keep him happy and well balanced. Watch a TikTok video featuring Rowen below! https://www.tiktok.com/@happy.critter.ranch/video/7204912518278565163 NOTE:  Adoptions are done via private appointment once an application has been completed and approved. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Rudy, aka Rootin'Tootin'Rudy and the Rudinator, came to the shelter as an owner surrender on 11/6/2022. The woman had originally found him as a stray in a rural area. She was going to keep him as no owner was located. She decided that Rudy was just too energetic and strong for her to handle. He does have a slight impairment when it comes to his eyesight, perhaps due to an injury he sustained at one time or maybe a genetic thing. He has been vet checked and neutered and his fee is $125. Nothing slows Rudy down. He's a happy and rambunctious dude who literally bounces through life. He will need a lot of basic training and exercise. He keeps his kennel clean at the shelter. An adult only home would be best for Rudy (teens are okay). He is looking for a home with no other animals. A fenced yard would rock Rudy's world! Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Alma is a pit bull mix who is now going on 6 years old and has had quite the history with us. In 2020, at around a year old, we first received her from the city pound after she was held there and never claimed by an owner. She was with us for over a year and was adopted in January 2022. Her owner's situation changed drastically in 2023, so Alma was returned in July 2023 after 18 months in her home. It was hard for both of them, as Alma (known in her home as "Pretty"), was very loved by her owner.  Alma did very well in her home. It was a fairly quiet environment with just Alma and the lady who adopted her. Alma did tend to be pretty protective of her person as it was just the two of them. We do think she would do best in a similar environment. She does seem to respond best to women. She's looking for an adult only home (teens are okay). No other animals. Alma is strong and active and will require regular exercise. Many of our volunteers have a soft spot for her and would like to see her get back into a home for good. She has been fully vetted and her fee is $125. Story
Meet Gracie! This sweet lady came to us from a valued rescue partner when they realized she needed a change of scenery. Gracie is deaf and because of that can get nervous or startled easily. However, once she knows and trusts you she becomes a sweetheart of a girl. She enjoys going on walks with volunteers and she has pretty good leash manners. In her kennel she likes to settle into her blankets. She has not been dog or cat tested at this time. Due to her being deaf and startling easily we would recommend a home without small children. If you have experience with a deaf dog or if Gracie seems like she could be a good fit for you, please apply for her today!Adoption fee is $350 + $30 microchip fee + tax
