Story
Are you looking for a go-with-the-flow, adorable and snuggly best friend to add to your family? Look no further, Gerti is the gal for you! Things about me you might like to know: Breed: Terrier Mix Color: Tan/White Size: 55 pounds (I am short and stocky like a bulldog) Age: Approximately 2-3 years Activity level: Low/Medium Things I do in my free time: I am a pretty chill girl, I spend most of my day relaxing. I am easily entertained watching the squirrels run along the fence in the yard or chillin’ on the porch in the sun. I love attention and snuggling with my human friends! I am content chewing on a Kong or chew bone. Things I know: I know how to sit for treats. I have basic house manners, I respond well if I am corrected. I am not the destructive type. Things I am working on: I could use basic training. I am learning not to jump on my human friends when I meet them. For the most part my foster family thinks I am pretty close to perfection. Kennel: I currently do not use a kennel when my foster family is at work/school. I am not kenneled at night and am content to lay on the couch or snuggle with you in bed. I love to sleep on my big cozy doggie bed. Word of warning, I do like to chew the stuffing out of toys and dog beds. Potty training: Bonus! I am 100% potty trained. The home I am currently in uses a fenced yard. Kids: I currently am in a house with two older teenagers. Older respectful children would be fine for me. Dogs: I currently live in a house with one middle aged large breed male dog. Ido love to snuggle with him. I would be fine living with or without another dog. Cats: Unknown Car Rides: I am a great passenger, no car sickness for me. I love to ride in the passenger seat with my doggie seatbelt! Walking: I am still working on not pulling too much on walks. I am a smart girl and with consistency I know I will be better.  I would love a walk a day, although there have been days when my foster mom is busy and I get along fine without it. She just makes sure I get some good play time outside. What to expect when you adopt me: You can expect to spend your days with a loyal, super cute best friend. Transitioning into my forever home should be smooth sailing! Additional information: I was picked up as a stray locally here in Minnesota. I was never claimed by my owner. Thanks to “Spots Last Stop Canine Rescue” I am getting the chance to find my furever home. If you would like to meet Gerti, please visit spotslaststop.org and fill out an application.

Story
Meet Ms. Marley! Breed: Staffordshire Bull Terrier Mix Age: 2-3 years Weight: 50 pounds My Story: I was found as a stray in Brooklyn Park and wound up in the local shelter.  I was super sad and lonely but as luck would have it Spots Last Stop busted me out and things are looking up!  Now I’m on the search for my forever family. Activity Level: Medium.  I love to run in the fenced back yard and keep a lookout for squirrels and bunnies. I like to go in and out a lot and would love it if my forever family had a fenced in yard for me to play and explore.  I also love to go for walks!  I sometimes pull a little bit when I get excited but overall my leash skills aren’t too shabby. Potty Training: Piece of cake, I figured this out quickly after a few weeks in my foster home. Kennel Training: Rockstar status. I kennel during the day while my foster mom works and come out at lunch for a break to burn some energy and have a potty break. I also sleep in my kennel at night without a peep.  Its my safe space and I love it. Kids: I currently live with a teenager and I love hanging with her and her friends.  I would do best in a home with older, respectful kids.  Dogs: I prefer to be top dog so I would do best with mellow and/or submissive dogs.  I live with two dogs in my foster home now and for the most part we all get along great!  Every once in a while, I butt heads with the resident male dog because we both like to think we are in charge.  I would also be just fine as your one and only pup. Cats: I live with two cats now and I would never hurt them but I do like to chase them.  My foster parents think I would probably do best in a kitty free home so I can avoid the temptation. What I’m working on: I’m still kind of shy and unsure when I meet new people or get into new environments but I do warm up fairly quickly! I’m also learning not to jump on people when they get home or when people come to visit. I’m just a really sweet and happy girl and I have so much love to give! I can’t wait to have a family of my very own so please fill out an application and come meet me! If you would like to meet Marley, please visit spotslaststop.org and fill out an application.

Story
*Trace’s adoption fee has been sponsored thanks to a generous donor*Hi, my name is Trace! I have been told I am a sweet little lady who has stolen many hearts. I am named after the artful technique of tracing, and I bring a unique story waiting to unfold – a story of love, companionship, and the beauty of creating lasting connections. The beginning of my story is not what my friends would have wanted for me. But, the best of my story is yet to come!I came to Warrior Dog in August as an expectant momma. My 10 puppies were born via emergency c-section in mid-September. I have spent 8 weeks caring for and teaching my babies in the art of being good dogs. I keep hearing that I am an excellent teacher! Some things to know about me: - I am a gentle and affectionate soul- I love my people. With my history, I like to take some time to truly trust new humans. But, once I do, I will wiggle my way right into your heart. - I am told that I am a very smart girl who will definitely be a motivated learner.- I walk well on a leash- I learned to approach humans for affection. Before coming to MN, I never lived inside a home so I never had to share my space like that before. So it would be best if I was the only dog to get your love and attention. My humans can say for sure that I am house trained and kennel trained! My friends here say to know me is to love me. Are you ready to fall in love? I am ready and waiting to draw myself into your family portrait to make it complete!--------------------------------------------All our Warrior Dogs will have all age appropriate medical care and vaccines, a microchip, and spay/neuter before adoption unless age is a factor with a puppy younger than 6-12 months at the time of adoption. If that is the case, the spay/neuter will be covered in the adoption fee and the owner will be responsible to have the procedures completed at a Warrior Dog Rescue Veterinarian at the appropriate time. Please note that the majority of our dogs in rescue are from shelters where they have been found as strays or abandoned. Their breed description is based on our very best educated guess based on physical characteristics and their dispositions. If they came to our rescue as an owner surrender, the breed description will be listed as provided by the previous owner.Adoption Fee - $0To apply for this pup, please submit an Adoption Application at http://warriordogrescue.com/adopt/adoption-application/

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Hey everyone!  My name is Sugar (DOB: 8/19/2017), an adorable 50lbs Pit mix, but my foster mom calls me Ember.  You see, it isn’t that Sugar wasn’t a good fit for me, in fact, I truly am as sweet as sugar, but I came to my foster mom in really rough shape and since I didn’t respond to Sugar, foster mom thought it would be perfect to give me a new name for a new beginning; and boy have we had a journey. During this time with my foster mom, I have gone through 3 separate knee surgeries due to an ACL tear and one separate surgery for a lump on my toe that needed to go! Ha ha, that rhymes! Now that I am all healed, I am ready to finally find my new forever home! Now that all the boring health stuff is out of the way, let me tell you all about myself! I love doing so many fun and exciting things.  I love playing fetch outside, and it doesn’t matter what I’m fetching. I am all in! I take really good care of my toys too that they'll likely last forever.  I’m super food motivated too so you could likely teach my any commands you want.  There really isn't anything I wouldn't do for a good smelly treat, I would absolutely excel in an obedience class.  I love going on walks too, especially when we run into new friends! I just love pretty much everyone.  I even like cats! I have learned that some kitties are not interested in playing but others enjoy playing with me as much as other dogs. My absolute favorite thing in the entire world is when I get to spend time with my foster mama.  I love nothing more than getting pets, belly rubs, and plopping onto foster mom's lap for extra close cuddles.  She even lets me sleep with her at night and it makes me sooooo unbelievably happy that I curl up right against her back.  She really says I am truly the best cuddler in the world.  And if I’m not cuddling on the cough, I am probably sitting on the cough like a human. It makes me feel special. Now while foster mom says I am pretty much perfect, I do have one area that I still struggle with a bit. Now mind you, I have made leaps and bounds in this category but sometimes I still have potty accidents. These are few and far between if you follow some easy instructions: let me out regularly throughout the day, make sure you let me out as soon as we wake up in the morning and before we go to bed, and keep me crated if you leave the home in a special crate that foster mom can discuss with you in further detail. These simple things really prevent 99% of accidents. Also, did I mention, I easily go into my crate every morning before mom goes to work? So, what do you think, are you ready to add the sweetest, most amazing pittie girl to your life?  If so, I'm your gal.    Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.Interested in adopting this lovable animal? Please go to our website www.wagsmn.org and fill out an Adoption Application.  Once the application is processed, a Wags representative will contact you, answer any questions you may have, and set up a time/location for a meet and greet!  A home visit is required prior to adoption.  Thank you for choosing to adopt! Story
A portion of Coco's adoption fee has been sponsored by her friends at The Murray Fund. The adoption fee sponsorship credit of $275.00 will be applied during the contract process Hi, my name is Coco! From the Foster: A typical day with Coco, I am home with Coco all day, with the exception of appointments, errands, etc. After nearly 2 years in our home, Coco has settled in and become a delightful companion dog. She gets along well with, and seems to take cues from, my black lab with a calm temperament. I have modified living arrangements such that the cats are kept separate from her- she seems to have high prey drive and due to limited vision perhaps cant really tell them apart from a squirrel. I had hoped after this long hearing and smelling them, and occasionally seeing them through the gate, she would have become accustomed to them, but alas she is just not a kitty dog. I keep Coco's medication pretty consistent, aiming for 12 hours apart. Coco and Lucy (my resident dog) both sleep on my bed all night. They don't get up until I do, and are great about going right outside and then in to eat and Coco has her oral meds, eye meds, and insulin. She is a champ taking her meds, doesn't resist at all. Throughout the day, Coco and Lucy go between my office and bedroom, taking long naps (they are 9 after all). Coco loves to race outside into the fenced yard with Lucy and search for real or imagined critters. The only thing that deters her is rain! A strange sound or presence will get her raising the alarm, but she settles down quickly and back to her sniffing and taking long luxurious naps in the sun. She may alarm due to her limited vision, but no significant limitations. Coco loves to be where I am, and would rather tag along in the car than be left behind, but thanks to occasional medication and my very mellow black lab, she is feeling more secure and safe as time goes on. She does fine out of the crate in the house, does not chew on unacceptable items, and can wait several hours to go outside. She has never had an accident indoors. Coco loves a long walk, especially a leisurely sniffari. Due to a lot of training, she is not nearly as concerned about other dogs out on walks as she used to be. I try not to get too close for comfort for her, and help her feel safe and confident. SHH can set an adopter up with ongoing training, too. She is pretty stressed, though, if she cant get out of perceived threat area, so instead of dog parks or busy recreation areas, we stick with the familiar neighborhood and a quiet regional nature park. Evenings are super-relaxed. Right after eating their dinner, both pups settle in for reading, watching a movie, or going to bed early. Coco loves to lay on the couch next to a warm body. She isn't a lap dog, not a hugger, but does love to snuggle. Through the course of my veterinary care at The Bond Between it was found that I have diabetes mellitus, hypothyroidism, and mature cataracts. Luckily, my foster and the doctors at The Bond Between and BluePearl took great care of me, and I am now ready to find my forever home! I had surgery for my cataracts, and I can see much better now. Future adopters should know that due to my multiple endocrine diseases, I will need to continue to work with a primary veterinarian, as well as an internal medicine specialist (I am currently under the care of Dr. Mazepa at BluePearl.) To manage my diabetes, my adopter will need to administer insulin everyday, as well as monitor my glucose levels with the guidance of a veterinarian. I am also on medication for my hypothyroidism. It is recommended that discuss with my future vet clinic about recommended follows ups and labwork (CBC, chemistry, UA, Fructosamine and T4).
