Story
For my own personal reasons, my apartment is not a good fit for him unfortunately and its not fair to him. He needs somewhere he can run free and be around other dogs-he is very friendly around other dogs. Sherlock has been an amazing companion and he is sweet, cuddly, and incredibly lovable. He got a goofy, gentle nature and loves nothing more than being close to people, whether it laying in bed or snuggling on the couch next to me. Sherlock can get a little mouthy when hes asking for more attention, especially when you stop petting him behind the ears-his favorite spot. However, he is always easy to correct and redirect, and his behavior has never been aggressive. Sherlock’s energy is friendly and chill, going with the flow, but he also enjoys playtime and is always ready for a good walk or playdate with other dogs. He thrives in the company of friendly dogs or children, and I believe he would do best in a home where he can run and play without restrictions and be cuddle with you.

Story
This boy was surrendered due to the wife not wanting him around a newborn. Bob did nothing wrong and is a well behaved boy. He does need time to get used to new people but warms up pretty quickly. He gets along with other dogs and likes to play. He loves tennis balls and loves to chase them... he can fit 2 in his mouth at a time. He does well on a leash and is house broken. He does like children but will need time to adjust to their energy. He can get a little protective over what he considers "his" but is not a mean protector.... more bark than bite. Some added people socialization would probably help him. He is a good boy who was given a raw deal by his supposed family so he;s now looking for a new chance. He is located in Tennessee but can be transported through Rescue Riders.

Story
If you are looking for an easy-peasy couch potato kind of a pup, Tova is your gal!We don’t often have dogs we can recommend for a low-energy household, so Tova is a rarity in that. Being that she is 6 years old, she is past the puppy phase. This also means you aren’t going to have all your stuff chewed up. ?? When hanging out with her human friends, Tova has a very calm/zen energy and is beloved by volunteers so much that she is often chosen as a Field Trip dog. She walks well on leash and does great going out into the community for a walk, but she doesn’t require a long adventure every day like many other dogs do. Tova knows a couple of basic commands and was potty trained in her previous home. She refuses to go potty in her kennel run at the shelter, so we anticipate that getting onto a potty training schedule in her new home will be a breeze. Tova has been very gentle with the adult canine handlers at the shelter, and should do ok with dog savvy older kiddos who are aware of appropriate dog handling skills (i.e. don’t touch their eyes, mouth, don’t pull their tail, etc).Tova has had her share of litters (the last one being fairly recent), so she is used to giving Mom energy when among her fellow canines. Some would call this ‘bossy’. In the playgroup program at MACC, Tova has done best with male dogs as the Mom Energy can be a bit much for other female dogs. She likes to occasionally play, but isn’t a high energy gal with other dogs; if her furever home has another dog, she would do best with a lower-energy friendly male dog. You can see her playgroup videos, here: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLS5FLiVr89sr6y5NyW709VQ-45w0rJTT1&si=CXeA5oOpz9bfOUrQWe are excited for Tova to be done having babies, and just being someone’s baby, instead. Please come meet this diamond in the ruff.MACC`s walk-in adoption hours are:Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday & Friday: 1-5pmThursday: 1-7pmSaturday: 11am-3pm

Story
Much like the Tyrannosaurus Rex has an abnormally large head in comparison to the rest of their body, so does RC. Fortunately, though, he takes treats much nicer than a T-Rex.RC loves to be around people and his medium energy level makes him a joy to hang out with. MACC volunteer dog walkers note that he does a great job following instruction, knows a few commands already, and does a pretty good job maintaining a loose leash on walks! Besides the occasional squirrel to chase, of course. RC is curious and watchful but not overbearing. He loves treats – and knows the word ‘treat’ – and would love to bond with his new owners by doing some more obedience work after he’s adopted. RC was surrendered by his previous owner so we know a bit about his history; primarily the fact that he did not do well with dogs in his previous home. This is an observation that has held true for us in the shelter as well. Being around dogs clearly stresses RC out, and attempts to integrate him into our playgroup program have been not-so-stellar, with RC starting a scuffle with another conflict-avoidant dog. Thus, it’s very important that RC be the only dog in his forever home.RC loves to have his ears scratched and takes treats so, so, so soft. We know that his amazing rockstar behavior with humans will entice the right one-animal-only family to come in and meet him in pawrson! If that’s you or someone you know, please come meet RC during Walk-in Adoption Hours!Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday 1:00 – 5:00 PMThursday 1:00 – 7:00 PMSaturday 11:00 – 3:00 PM

Story
Hi! I’m Bucky,a 6-year-old girl who's the epitome of sweetness and affection. I love fetch, belly rubs, and hanging out with my family. I’ll happily start a good tug-of-war over a stick or a frolic with my dog neighbors. When I’m relaxing inside you’ll likely find me by you on the couch or in my kennel, which I’ll also gladly hangout in as I wait for you to come home.I love other dogs but I can take a moment to warm up. Once I do I’ll be a social butterfly. With appropriate introductions, a chill space to say hi organically, I’ll be ready to hangout with my canine friends. I just need to feel comfortable and prepared. I haven’t had any cat tests since coming to rescue, so I’m not quite sure how I’d do there and although I don’t currently live with kids, my affectionate nature suggests I could do well. What would my perfect day include? Balls, sticks, a blanket, some time to run and play fetch, but I’m an easy-going girl happy to do much of anything. I could live without the sound of the vacuum and a nail trim, but who wouldn’t?With 15-30 minutes of playtime in the yard I’m golden for the day, and will spend much of the rest of it sleeping or calmly chilling at home.I have no issues with being left alone but will always happily choose to hangout with people. I’m not particularly vocal so could adjust well to an apartment without too much stimuli, and would love a fenced-in yard, but really I’m just looking for a family that wants to love me as much as I’m ready to love them!If you are interested in this dog, fill out an application at this link to get the ball rolling - https://pethavenmn.org/adopt/adoptable-dogs/dog-adoption-application/Adoption fee includes spay/neuter, heartworm/Lyme test, all age-appropriate vaccinations (distemper, rabies, and Bordetella), heartworm and flea/tick preventatives, and microchip implant (including registration). Adoption fees INCLUDE a mandatory sales tax of 7.525%.Age and breed are based on veterinarian and intake professional’s recommendation and not guaranteed as a rescue animal’s history is often unknown.Due to post-adoption services provided, we prefer to adopt within a 150-mile radius of the Twin Cities. However, we will consider up to 250 miles if the foster agrees to travel requirements and staff approval.

Story
Say hello to April! April is a 1.5 year-old Staffordshire Terrier mix and 59 lbs of pure energy and affection.April might take a bit of time to gain confidence around new people, but once she does she will be your best friend forever! She understands that her calling in life is to act as her human’s shadow and will go the extra mile in order to not miss out on any action happening at home. This might even include her licking your hair while you catch up on your latest Netflix binge!April is house trained. It is likely that April used to spend most of her time outdoors, so she may need a bit of guidance as to where the appropriate place to go potty is. She has caught on quickly in her foster home, no accidents! April is also crate trained. She does well in her crate at night and while home alone. While April prefers to see her humans throughout the day, she does well when left home alone and has not been known to vocalize or be destructive. She requires a medium level of activity and is content with a daily walk and plenty of stuffed toys to play with! April is a curious girl who would love to have a fenced yard to sniff around in but it is not required.April has enjoyed meeting and playing with dogs in her foster home and does very well. She prefers to have a confident dog around to help teach her how to be the best pup! Ideally, April would find a forever home that has a built-in canine companion but it is not required. When it comes to cats, April has yet to meet one! She has shown signs of a prey drive so a meet-and-greet would be necessary if there is a cat in the household. When April is feeling playful, her energy can be very high! Her play style is all in good fun but this may overwhelm young children as she can get a bit mouthy. She would do best in a household with children 13 years and older.April is ready to meet her forever home! With patience and consistent structure she will blossom into the perfect companion that anyone could ask for. If you’re interested in learning more about April and think she might be a good fit, fill out an application using the link below to learn more! Story
Hi! My name is Dahlia, but my foster parents call me Dolly, Dolly Dingo, or Dolly Doobers.I’m a 2-5 yo Pit Bull and I'm really really cute. I'm a bit timid when I first meet people, but warm up quickly with a gentle, controlled approach. I love to give kisses, and may or may not slobber your face, arm, leg, ear, or whatever given part of you I can reach at the time.I can't tell you what my life was like before rescue, but I'm pretty sure I've had a lot of puppies. I was picked up by Animal Control while running free, and stayed there for a little over a month until I got out. I think I've had some really basic training, because I know how to sit at food time, but beyond that I need work on a leash and some improvement on my basic manners.I'm not tall, but my foster dad says I'm "A real thickums McGee" and I'm not really aware of how solid or heavy I am, so your personal space is at a definite risk with me around, I just want to be by people! I have to be in a home with no other dogs, as I get scared and defensive when they get close.I do well in a crate for the most part, although I may whine when I feel like I'm left alone in one. Because I'm a beefcake, I would also probably do best in a home without younger children due to my size but would likely love them. Overall though, I'm a very very sweet lover girl who just wants to be your favorite companion and best buddy to whoever adopts me.If you are interested in this dog, fill out an application at this link to get the ball rolling:https://pethavenmn.org/adopt/adoptable-dogs/dog-adoption-application/Adoption fee includes spay/neuter, heartworm/Lyme test, all age-appropriate vaccinations (distemper, rabies, and Bordetella), heartworm and flea/tick preventatives, and microchip implant (including registration). Story
This beautiful girl is Freya, she’s 5-years-old and 70 pounds of sweetness. To know Freya is to love her.Freya absolutely loves hanging out with her people and is happiest when they’re around. Whether it’s on the run or being a couch potato, she is ready to take on the world if you’re with her. She loves a good cuddle from anyone willing, while a hike through the woods is a highlight to any day.Freya would need a fenced yard if off-leash but is low energy and only needs a short walk daily. She would also likely be ok with shared walls. She may vocalize when someone is at the door but is otherwise quiet and can be left alone but of course prefers to have someone around to chill with if given the option.Freya came to rescue after living in a stressful and toxic environment. As a result, she took some time to adjust, but after a few weeks is now starting to show her incredibly charming personality.Freya loves to find the sunny spot in a room and sun herself for hours if left undisturbed. When she walks into a room, she greets each person in turn before proceeding to the next room and will do this every time she enters the room.Freya is fully house-trained with no issues. She does have one quirk, she doesn’t poop on leash so space for her to go without one is a bit of a must. She is crate trained and previously slept crated at night, but since coming to rescue has gotten to free roam the house with no issue. When it comes to other dogs Freya can be good with some, it would depend on temperament. Due to her previous home environment, she still reacts poorly to larger aggressive dogs. She is working with her foster on leash reactivity as she continues positive socialization. As for cats, she does have a prey drive and is generally not a big fan.Freya would likely do well with kids 5 and older. She’s generally a girl that loves a calm space for her to be her mellow self and be part of a family. Story
Get a load of this cutie! Lark is a 2 year-old Pit Bull who will be sure to steal your heart with her dazzling personality! Her heart-shaped spots are a perfect indication of the love she has to give and she’s looking for her forever person to give her the same energy in return.Since coming into rescue, Lark has become quite the social butterfly! She adores every person she meets and is eager to be affectionate and play. She has adjusted very well in her foster home and has done great with picking up on the house rules. She’s crate trained and does well when home alone. She can be a bit barky when she is crated and knows you’re home but settles quickly. For this reason, she may be a good candidate for a home with shared walls given that it’s the right fit! She would love a home where she can see her people throughout the day and get some love in, but she’d likely do well with a daily routine where she spends time alone.Lark adores meeting other dogs and meets them with lots of energy! This is a work in progress and she’s getting better at picking up social cues. She’d likely do well in a home with other dogs given they don’t mind her energy. Lark has limited experience with cats but currently lives with an older, dog-savvy cat and does well. She is very curious around cats and would play if given the opportunity. She’d likely do well in a home with cats if they aren’t overly fearful of a dog who’s still learning what personal space means! As far as kids go, Lark has yet to meet any while in rescue. Given her affectionate nature, she’d likely do well. It’s recommended that Lark is given slow and controlled interactions with kids to avoid her accidentally knocking anyone down!Lark prefers a medium level of activity and would love a routine that involves a daily walk with playtime in between. She currently has access to a fenced yard, but this isn’t a requirement. She’d do well without a fence given that she’s taken out on leash regularly.Lark is enjoying her new lease on life and is eager to meet her forever family that will allow her to thrive as her loving self! She can’t wait to be someone's giddy little shadow and tag along in all the best adventures. Story
Meet Indiana Bones! Just as his name says, this boy is ready for the adventure of a lifetime. Indiana Bones is a 1.5 year-old Pit Bull mix who is 40 lbs of pure love and joy. Indiana has had a rocky start to his journey but is ready to meet his forever family where he can settle into the good life. He is so affectionate and wants nothing more than to cuddle up with his favorite person and hang out!He is fully potty trained with the very rare accident due to being super excited. Aside from that, he’s learned how to alert his people that he’s got to go! He’s crate trained and treats it like his safe haven. He eats meals in his crate and has no complaints spending time there when home alone. Indiana is learning how to coexist with other animals and has been doing great. He enjoys spending time with other dogs and would prefer if he has a friendly buddy around to help him stay confident. If he meets a dog that matches his energy, they are a friend for life! As far as cats go, he’s learning how to pick up on their body language. He’s largely uninterested in his foster family’s cats but is working on boundaries with them! Indiana has yet to spend time with children. We recommend slow and supervised introductions with kids.Indiana will likely prefer a home where someone is there to see him throughout the day. He’s working through some separation anxiety and responds well to consistency and routine. Indiana’s forever family should be one that’s dedicated to providing him with daily activity and stimulation to keep him from getting too bored! He would prefer a fenced yard to assist in burning off excess energy and work on his recall skills.Indiana Bones is ready to find his forever home! With continued love and affection, Indiana will be sure to thrive! A GENEROUS DONOR HAS COVERED THIS DOG'S VET COSTS, GIVING YOU A REDUCED ADOPTION FEE! Virginia was dumped out pregnant and despite going up to several homes and people, no one tried to help. She eventually wandered up to an empty house to have her three babies and thankfully someone finally took pity and reach out to get her help. Now Virginia and two of her puppies - Violet & Vince - are still waiting for families of their own and they are all on the URGENT list as their shelter is over full and they are running out of time. This girl is going to make someone a fabulous companion! She walks very well on a leash and is learning not to pull. She is potty-trained and is active but not hyper, does not jump, nor does she guard her food or toys. Virginia LOVES to go for car rides, especially if there's a burger and a pup-cup involved. And when she is on outings, she is the perfect lady when walking around the store - she was polite, greeted everyone, picked out a chew toy and treats. She takes a treat ever-so-gently and is just an overall "Good Girl!" Her absolute favorite thing is playing with her tennis ball or squeaky ball!! No stuffy toys for this girl. She loves to be with her person but if you are busy, she is content to play by herself too. Virginia does well with kids and loves every human she meets but she does not love other dogs, and we recommend she be an only-pet home. Virginia is looking for a family to include her on their adventures and show her all the love this mama dog deserves!! This girl is an absolute LOVE and deserves the best home ever! If it is yours, click on the big, black button to inquire about Virginia. Virginia is currently in TN but the transport to your area is included in your fee. We use Rescue Riders Pet Transport, the most animal-friendly transport on the road.
