Story
Nova didn’t come to us with a name… just a story written in every step she took. She wandered onto one of our volunteer’s properties like she knew—this is where I’ll be safe. Wet. Cold. Far too thin. Quietly asking for help without making a sound. So her foster gave her a name: Nova. A fresh start. A new beginning. A light after darkness. And that name couldn’t fit her more perfectly. Despite whatever she’s been through, Nova is incredibly soft, gentle, and full of love. The kind of dog who leans into you like she’s been waiting her whole life to feel safe. She’s slowly gaining weight, healing both inside and out, and will need a dental to get her feeling her very best—but her spirit? That’s already shining. Nova is: 🐾 Great with kids 🐾 Good with other dogs 🐾 Unbothered by cats She’s the definition of resilience wrapped in a quiet, loving soul. Nova didn’t just find a yard that day… She found her second chance. Now all she needs is a home to make it permanent. 💛 Nova’s adoption fee is $400 plus MN tax which covers her spay, vaccinations, microchip and any additional medical care she may have needed while in the rescue’s care. We are a foster based rescue, we do not house dogs at a facility. Age and breed are NLR's best guess as we often don't know who or what mom and dad are. If you are interested in adopting, please fill out an application on our website www.northernlakesrescue.org

Story
Meet Tyson — affectionately known as Chicken Nugget or just Nuggie. 🍗💛 Tyson’s story starts on the streets of Oklahoma, where he was found as a stray by an unhoused man who showed him incredible kindness. He made sure Tyson was safe and cared for, and reached out to one of our trusted rescue partners in Tulsa to help this little guy find a better future. Because of that compassion, Tyson is now safe, loved, and ready for his forever home. True to his nickname, Chicken Nugget, Tyson is a perfectly bite-sized bundle of joy — happy-go-lucky, affectionate, and always ready for snuggles. He absolutely adores playing with his puppy foster siblings and is happiest when he’s part of the action or curled up close to his people. Tyson is working diligently on both crate and potty training and continues to make great progress with consistency and routine. He’s a loving, sweet-natured puppy who will thrive in a home ready to guide him as he grows and learns. If you’re looking for a cuddly, playful, heart-melting little Nuggie to add to your family, Tyson is ready to come home. 🐾💛 Tyson’s adoption fee is $425 plus MN tax which covers his neuter, vaccinations, microchip and any additional medical care he may have needed while in the rescue’s care. We are a foster based rescue, we do not house dogs at a facility. Age and breed are NLR's best guess as we often don't know who or what mom and dad are. Meet Enzo! 🐾 Enzo is a big goofball with a heart of gold. He loves cuddling on the couch, chewing on a good bone, and taking long, cozy naps. While he enjoys playing with other dogs, Enzo is just as happy entertaining himself and relaxing nearby. Enzo is great about going into his kennel when asked. He’ll give you a little chirp if he feels ignored — and if that doesn’t work, he’s not shy about using his loud, deep bark to make sure you notice him! 😄 He’s a fun, affectionate boy ready to bring joy and personality to his forever home. 💙 Enzo's adoption fee is $425 plus MN tax which covers his neuter, vaccinations, microchip and any additional medical care he may have needed while in the rescue’s care. Story
Meet Booker: Looking for a Confident Leader 2 Years Old | Pro-Cuddler | High Potential Booker is a handsome 2-year-old who didn’t get the typical "puppy starter pack." Having spent his first year in a majority outside shelter, he’s still figuring out the ropes of being a family dog. He’s made incredible progress in his foster home, and now he’s looking for a dog-savvy, adult-only home that enjoys the rewarding work of guiding a resilient dog. The Perfect Match Booker is a "follow the leader" kind of guy. He is happiest when he’s with a confident handler who can make the big decisions for him. When he knows his human has the situation under control, he can finally let his guard down and just relax. He’s looking for a partner who understands dog body language and is happy to be his advocate in the world. Safety & Boundaries Because Booker is still learning how to handle his big feelings, he’s not afraid to use his teeth to ask for space when he feels overwhelmed. For this reason, he’s looking for a family that is pro-muzzle. He’s already a total champ with his muzzle and wears it on outings like a pro! His new owners should be comfortable continuing this routine in busy or new places to keep him feeling secure and successful. The Sweet Side Once you’re in Booker’s "inner circle," he is the ultimate companion: • The Best Cuddler: He loves a good movie marathon on the couch and is a world-class snuggler. • A Growing Socialite: While he warms up to women a bit faster, he’s learned that guys can be pretty great, too! • Animal Friends: He’s currently living peacefully with cats and most other dogs. • The Basics: He’s fully vaccinated, house-trained, and ready for a structured routine. Booker isn’t just looking for a house; he’s looking for a mentor. If you’re a confident handler who loves seeing a dog's potential turn into reality, Booker is ready to meet you! Booker's adoption fee is $400 plus MN tax which covers his neuter, vaccinations, microchip and any additional medical care he may have needed while in the rescue’s care. We are a foster based rescue, we do not house dogs at a facility. Age and breed are NLR's best guess as we often don't know who or what mom and dad are. Story
Meet Isabel — the sweetest little fighter with a heart bigger than her wheels! Isabel is a 4-year-old rescue pup whose spirit shines brighter than the challenges she faces. She has hind-leg paralysis and is incontinent, but she doesn’t let that slow her down for a second. With her joyful personality and her “live life to the fullest” attitude, Isabel wins hearts everywhere she goes. This gentle girl is wonderful with cats, kids, and other dogs, making her an easy fit for all kinds of families. She adores toys, loves being included, and greets each day with enthusiasm and a wagging tail. Isabel is currently working on rehab with her dedicated foster, building up her core strength and confidence. While she will likely never walk unassisted, the goal is to get her moving around efficiently in her wheelchair, so she’s always ready for fun, cuddles, and adventure. If you’re looking for a loving, resilient companion who will remind you daily how beautiful life can be, Isabel is ready to fill your home with joy, courage, and endless affection.

Story
Hera is a gorgeous, one-year-old pit mix with a sweet and gentle soul. She was recently sprung from the shelter, where she'd been since March, and is currently learning how to be a dog in a home. Since she's still decompressing, her true personality is just beginning to shine, and she's ready to find a forever family who will help her blossom. This beautiful girl is all about finding a balance between play and snuggles. She loves to run and play outside and is learning to have an off switch inside when everyone is relaxing. She's a pro at crate training, is reliably housebroken when taken out regularly, and is a calm presence in the home—she rarely barks and isn't a jumper. She loves to curl up for a good snuggle and is also ready for an adventure. While Hera has shown no aggression, she prefers to have her own toys and sticks and would do best in a home with another dog who can handle sharing their toy box. She's been around dog-savvy young teenagers and has done great, but she hasn't been introduced to young kids or cats. Hera is spayed, up to date on her vaccines, and ready to go home! If you're looking for a loyal and loving companion to help build confidence and who will fill your life with joy and playful energy, Hera is the one for you. Hera's adoption fee is $400 plus MN tax which covers her spay, vaccinations, microchip and any additional medical care she may have needed while in the rescue’s care. We are a foster based rescue, we do not house dogs at a facility. Age and breed are NLR's best guess as we often don't know who or what mom and dad are.
