Story
Hello everyone my name is Roscoe and I am about 9 years old and a big guy weighing in at almost 90lbs. I was adopted from Al-Van 5 years ago, and unfortunately had to come back due to no fault of my own. My family's life circumstances changed and I could no longer live with them. I am now looking for a new family to retire with! My previous home said I loved hanging out with kids! I found out that I am great at climbing fences so a high fenced in back yard would work best, or I'll need to remain on leash. I love to cuddle, play with toys, go for walks and rides in the car. I would also be the kind of guy that would love to have a Netflix and chill kind of night. I would prefer to be the only pet in the home. Ideally my family would be home often because I don't like spending time alone, I love my people! A generous donor even covered my adoption fee! I am neutered, microchipped, vaccinated and heartworm negative. If you are willing to give me a shot and become a part of your family please fill out an application at al-van.org/adopt.

Story
Meet Kenpachi, he also goes by Pachi. A 4 year old mixed breed. As far as I know his mom is lab and mixed with something and his daddy was part pit bull. Kenpachi is a tanker truck who loves to eat. He loves to run and be chased, playing tug is a favorite of his. My children chase him. He is house broken but will mark occasionally. He doesn't understand how big he is, he also is smooth brained. He doesn't have a prey drive, he has a food drive. Cuddles and brushes are his favorite pastime. Though he is a typical teenager, can't get him in a bath anymore, he will avoid ear cleaning if possible. The only shot he is missing is his rabies shot.

Story
This is Ruth or Mama, or Mamabear. She is a very active and very affectionate gal. 4 years old and a mixture of lab and pit and something else. She is crate trained and very food motivated. Loud noises make her nervous, loud voices or a scream will have her bolt to her kennel. Her crate is her space and she does not like it if others come in while she has food or a chew. Her favorite thing is tennis balls, nothing that squeaks, she will destroy it. She is house broken and very cuddly, loves to take over blankets and bask in the sun. When it comes to collars she is a harness only kind of gal. A good harness with a chest clip, her head is small so she can just pull it out of anything else. She is very teachable and loves to do tricks for treats, she was learning how to use buttons. She loves cheese and hot dogs, but isn't picky. She is only missing rabies shot.

Story
Nova means new and this amazing dog is ready for her new forever home. Could it be you? Nova just like her namesake is a bright star with powerful energy. Her loving spirit will melt your heart. She just wants to be with her people. She is both a snuggle bug and a playful, funny girl. She knows basic commands and has been a great addition to her foster family. She gets along with her foster brother, they play and share the house space well, but would need to be cat tested. She loves walks, toys (the tough kind), and time with her humans. She is treat-motivated and has continued crate training and leash work in her foster home, of which she has made enormous progress in a short time. She would need a home committed to continuing this work as well as addressing her allergy issues through diet and over-the-counter allergy medication. Her foster parents are Emily Z.    The adoption fee for Nova is $200.Please complete our online application form if you are interested in adopting Nova. A volunteer will contact you as soon as possible. Click here to go to the online adoption form All Kalamazoo Animal Rescue dogs & puppies are spayed or neutered prior to adoption. Dogs have been heartworm tested and if appropriate (age and time of year) all dogs and puppies are given heartworm preventative. All are given medication to rid them of roundworms and checked and treated for fleas & ear mites, if needed. Dogs and puppies are given distemper vaccines and depending on how long the pet has been in foster care, additional distemper vaccine(s) may be necessary and the expense will be incurred by the adopter. Any canine over 4 months of age is brought current on the Rabies vaccine. Additional vet care may have been provided depending on the particular animal's needs. Dogs are individually priced as above. Please note that we do not ship dogs and we cannot guarantee that a long trip to see a foster dog will result in an adoption or taking the dog home on that day. It is in the best interest of pooch and owner to enroll in an obedience class soon after adoption. After all, you have a lot to learn about your new friend. The Kalamazoo Dog Training Club offers a discount to owners with newly adopted dogs. Enroll before any behavior problems start - you won't regret it! Story
Camille is a sweet and spunky little puppy who is looking for an experienced bully breed family to continue her training and socialization. Camille would do best in a home with another playful dog who is not afraid to correct her as she’s still learning manners. She currently is in foster with 3 dogs and loves to play and wrestle with them! She loves to rough house so if you have another dog, it’s important that they like this type of play. She also is in foster with cats and does well! She tries to play with them and is respectful of correction.Camille needs a fenced yard to run in and a family that has time to put in training and exercise. She absolutely needs as much socializing as possible! She loves toys and chewing on her bones. She is making more and more progress with potty training everyday and the same goes for crate training. This sweet pittie puppy has lots to offer a family who knows how to properly raise a bully breed, and she has lots of love to give! She’s got the best personality and we are so excited to see her find her forever home! Her foster parents are Liz L.    The adoption fee for Camille (Cami) is $400.Please complete our online application form if you are interested in adopting Camille (Cami). Story
Meet Razzle Dazzle! We believe this cutie is about 2 years old. He is about 70 pounds. He is such a sweet boy and is a staff favorite here at Mapleview and the rescue! Everyone loves to be greeted by him in the morning and say goodbye to him when they leave for the day.   Razzle loves all people! He has done well with other large dogs he has met. We have not yet introduced him to small dogs. He does need a cat free home. He likes to play and has a lot of energy! Razz needs some training with basic obedience and leash training (he has quite a prey drive) but he is eager to please and smart, so just needs someone with time to commit to him.   We have discovered that Razzle has some allergies which is not surprising with his beautiful white coat and his breed. He came to us with some very sore and torn up paw pads and wounds on his legs. He does better with apoquel, which is an expensive allergy medication. We are currently trying a hypoallergenic prescription diet with him to see how it manages his allergies as a more cost effective option longterm. But, he is worth it! He is such a good boy and deserves to be comfortable!   An approved adoption application is required. The $250 adoption fee (payable by cash or check only) includes spay/neuter; microchip; dental teeth cleaning (if needed prior to adoption); vaccinations; heartworm and tick disease testing; fecal w/ giardia testing, monthly heartworm and flea and tick prevention . Our adoption application may be found by going to: www.headinhomerescue.org; then click on the link to the adoption application. Dogs for adoption may be seen by appointment only following an approved application. Proof of completion of an obedience class is required for all dogs following adoption. Please note: while we welcome out of state applications, we do not ship our animals and require adopters to come to Holland to finalize any adoption.November 13, 2024, 9:37 am
