Story
Meet Moonlight! This shy guy will need an understanding family that can go slow and help him feel safe. When he is comfortable, he likes to give gentle kisses, cuddle, and play with squeaky toys. Once he gets to know you, he`s all paws in, and loves deeply! He also enjoys playing with other dogs and could do well with an energetic, fun doggie sibling! Moonlight will need a home without children or cats, and would benefit from meeting any doggy siblings prior to adoption. Moonlight`s family should be prepared to work with a positive reinforcement trainer to help ease his anxiety around handling, such as grooming and nail trims. Moonlight is ready to be your new best friend! Come meet him today

Story
`Hi, I`m Hyssop and I`m looking for a home! I love to play and get pets! I am looking for a home that will give me some time to adjust to my surroundings, because I can be anxious and nervous at first, but once I`m comfortable I love to play and get pets. I also love to play with dogs, but will need to meet any possible dog siblings. I need a home without young children and small animals. If you are looking for a fun, smart, playful dog, then I`m the dog for you!`-Petango written by a middle grade Residency camperHyssop is currently living in one of our wonderful foster homes. Story
Hi my name is Darla! My foster parent says I`m a very cuddly and friendly girl; my big ears are like a radar for finding new friends! I like to go for long walks to get all of the ` doggie news` via interesting smells. I can be pretty energetic, but that should be expected from a young lady like me. Once I get my fill, I take nice big naps just like the rest of them! If you have a dog already who you would like me to be siblings with, I would need to meet them first to make sure we get along. Some dogs can intimidate me, but I am working on understanding that dogs can be my friend. I would absolutely love to meet you! Darla is currently living in one of our wonderful foster homes. Story
Hi my name is Ralphie! I am a fun, playful guy who has been waiting for a home with my HSHV friends for a little while. During my stay, I have been the favorite of quite a few volunteers and staff, who say that I am very smart and picking up well on my training. It can be hard to be an active dog without an outlet, but I am trying my absolute best to still show my best self to everyone. What is my best home for my best self, you may ask? A home where I can be your only pet is for me, as I have struggled to live with dogs and cats in the past. Please give me a chance to show how great I can be!Ralphie went on a shelter break with a foster parent, who had incredible things to say about him!`Ralphie knows sit, paw, lay, and stay and is a great listener. He is very smart, is a master with the kong, and loves to eat his meals out of it. He sleeps through the night with no issue and is very well-behaved. He is the best of both worlds- loves to play but also loves to cuddle on the couch.`

Story
Cactus is a very happy guy just wanting to be by your side! This Terrier/Pit bull mix weighs about 80 pounds. Cactus loves his many walks a day and smelling all the smells on our walks! Our daily routine begins with going for a long walk and smelling the fresh air. Then comes some playtime with toys and breakfast. After that Cactus settles in for his morning nap on his comfy cozy until our next walk around 11:30am. Once the afternoon begins Cactus settles in for his afternoon nap and also likes to look outside the window watching the neighborhood activities. Our next walk is around 4:30pm and after that dinner is served. He loves eating his meals from a snuffle mat. Then some downtime, playing with his toys, and maybe a little tug of war until our next walk. Our bedtime routine is going outside for potty then Cactus goes in his crate to sleep the whole night through. You may hear him snore a little too. Cactus knows some words too. He knows sit, paw, down, crate, stay, gentle, wait, turn (on walks I use turn to let him know we’re changing direction) walk, outside, and his favorite word, treats. We’re working on passing other dogs on the other side of the street with great success on our walks. He likes to look and pass the dogs at a faster walking pace which is a big accomplishment for Cactus. Cactus is so sweet and once he knows and trusts you, he is the biggest cuddle bug and loves to give kisses and snuggle right up with you. Cactus is currently living in one of our wonderful foster homes. Adopting from foster is easy! Please email adoptions@hshv.org or call (734)662-5585 to arrange a meeting today!
