Story
Meet Kenpachi, he also goes by Pachi. A 4 year old mixed breed. As far as I know his mom is lab and mixed with something and his daddy was part pit bull. Kenpachi is a tanker truck who loves to eat. He loves to run and be chased, playing tug is a favorite of his. My children chase him. He is house broken but will mark occasionally. He doesn't understand how big he is, he also is smooth brained. He doesn't have a prey drive, he has a food drive. Cuddles and brushes are his favorite pastime. Though he is a typical teenager, can't get him in a bath anymore, he will avoid ear cleaning if possible. The only shot he is missing is his rabies shot.

Story
This is Ruth or Mama, or Mamabear. She is a very active and very affectionate gal. 4 years old and a mixture of lab and pit and something else. She is crate trained and very food motivated. Loud noises make her nervous, loud voices or a scream will have her bolt to her kennel. Her crate is her space and she does not like it if others come in while she has food or a chew. Her favorite thing is tennis balls, nothing that squeaks, she will destroy it. She is house broken and very cuddly, loves to take over blankets and bask in the sun. When it comes to collars she is a harness only kind of gal. A good harness with a chest clip, her head is small so she can just pull it out of anything else. She is very teachable and loves to do tricks for treats, she was learning how to use buttons. She loves cheese and hot dogs, but isn't picky. She is only missing rabies shot.

Story
Hello everyone my name is Roscoe and I am about 9 years old and a big guy weighing in at almost 90lbs. I was adopted from Al-Van 5 years ago, and unfortunately had to come back due to no fault of my own. My family's life circumstances changed and I could no longer live with them. I am now looking for a new family to retire with! My previous home said I loved hanging out with kids! I found out that I am great at climbing fences so a high fenced in back yard would work best, or I'll need to remain on leash. I love to cuddle, play with toys, go for walks and rides in the car. I would also be the kind of guy that would love to have a Netflix and chill kind of night. I would prefer to be the only pet in the home. Ideally my family would be home often because I don't like spending time alone, I love my people! A generous donor even covered my adoption fee! I am neutered, microchipped, vaccinated and heartworm negative. If you are willing to give me a shot and become a part of your family please fill out an application at al-van.org/adopt.

Story
?????????? (Longest resident since 12/29/23) 4 years 6 months good with dogs good with childrencrate trained Sasha has had a rough start to life. She was stolen for a long time from her family and bred, and then ended up at the shelter as a stray, not too long after being reunited. Sasha was a mandatory spay and her owners did not come back for her. Words from Sasha’s foster:“Sasha is a good girl. She has been good in the home and quickly learned our routine and rhythms. She listens well and responds to redirection when necessary. She typically does well with recall although we have only worked on this in the fenced backyard. She is crate trained. Her people are most important to her. She is almost always wherever I am helping me do what I’m doing. She is a snuggler whether it’s across our lap or just pressed close next to us. She’s done well with all of our adult children when they have come over albeit jumping when they first arrive. She has also done well with our 20 month old grandson. She loves toys and will entertain herself with them. She especially likes nylabones. She also is a blanket girl. She has a strong personality and needs stimulation and exercise. She will run circles around the backyard as fast as she can to release some energy and she’s fast. She did have about a five week adjustment period in learning how to live with our two dogs. Our male is pretty unflappable and with a couple of corrections she got it. She had a harder time adjusting to our female. We think it took her awhile to understand that she was not her competition. They are much better now and will often lay together.”Heartworm negative, spayed, microchipped and up to date on all of my vaccinations.

Story
Tony the Tiger • Male• 2 years• 54 pounds• Good with dogsMy names Tony. I was caught by an officer and brought in as a stray on 9/3/24. I love to listen to pop punk music and scream in my kennel. I act like a lonely teenage boy that wishes he was more independent, but doesn’t quite have the confidence yet, all while trying to figure out where I fit in the world..I’m 100% guaranteed to be a velcro dog and weasel my way into your heart with how adorable I am even if I am a ball of curiosity. Giving me odd jobs and enrichment keeps me busy. I love snuffle mats and frozen peanut butter kongs. I promise even if I am a bit noisy you’ll fall in love with me when you get to know me. No apartment complexes for me please. I would love a work from home family as hard as that is to find for a dog..or someone who is home majority of the day.I am heartworm negative, neutered, microchipped and up to date on all of my vaccinations. I have an adoption fee of $85.

Story
I’m Sally! I’m a 1 year old girl that weighs 51pounds. I am eager to please and full of wiggle butts. I have been with dogs as small as 10 pounds. I’m hoping someone with fall in love with me. I would love to be in a home before Thanksgiving. The shelter is full, and adoptions keep the shelter going in order to provide care for more dogs and cats. I need to get out and find a family of my own so another dog can have my kennel. You won’t be just helping me, you’ll be helping the next dog. I know sit, and lay down. I love treats. I enjoy going for walks in the park. I’m doing well with potty training.
