Story
Bella is a very sweet dog. She is great with my two younger children and gets along well with my cat and older Pitt bull. So why do I need to re-home her? Since I purchased her, I have needed to go back to work full time and have become a single mother. She just isn't getting the attention she deserves and I feel horrible about that. I hope she can find a loving home with lots of room to romp and play.

Story
We took tiny in from a family member since she was going to be taken to the shelter. Unfortunately we can no longer keep her, we have a newborn and we can’t give tiny the attention she needs. Tiny is a very sweet girl, she is very playful and knows simple commands. She is crate train and house trained. Tiny is not leash train. She does not have any behavior issues. She gets along with our older children.

Name: Libby Breed Guess: Pit mix Age: 1 year old Gender: Female Weight: 47 pounds Shelter Temperament: Sweet & Playful Children: 10+ Cats: NO Dogs: Needs to be an only dog Adoption fee: $125 Likes: Snuggles, giving all the kisses, playing fetch, happy wiggles, and going for walks Libby has a bit of stranger danger when it comes to new people, but we don’t blame her! With the help of treats and calm petting, it doesn’t take her long to feel comfortable! She just needs to make sure you are safe! A fenced in yard is required for Libby. The Animal Rescue Project (www.animalrescueproject.org) is committed to the best possible veterinary care for the pets it rescues and it is looking for adopters who will be similarly committed. Adoptions are NOT first come, first served! We seek to choose the best fit for the approved adopter and pet. Please understand that these animals are still new to us and their needs and requirements can change at any time as we learn more about them. We will try our best to get them updated online as soon as possible. All dogs and puppies are given a general check-up when they enter our program. They receive medication to remove any intestinal parasites (worms), fleas, and ticks they may have. Dogs greater than six months of age are checked for heartworm. If heartworm positive, the Animal Rescue Project treats the disease. Dogs and pups receive all age-appropriate vaccinations for distemper, and dogs greater than four months of age are also vaccinated for rabies, in compliance with State of Michigan laws. All dogs are also microchipped. Most dogs and older puppies are spayed or neutered before adoption. In the case of puppies not old enough to be safely sterilized, a $50 deposit is required at the time of adoption and is refunded to the adopter with proof of sterilization. The Animal Rescue Project requires every adopter to establish an active relationship with a veterinarian no later than 10 days after adoption. Adopters will receive a plan for routine veterinary care at the time of adoption and are expected to work with their vet to complete the plan.

Story
Nova means new and this amazing dog is ready for her new forever home. Could it be you? Nova just like her namesake is a bright star with powerful energy. Her loving spirit will melt your heart. She just wants to be with her people. She is both a snuggle bug and a playful, funny girl. She knows basic commands and has been a great addition to her foster family. She gets along with her foster brother, they play and share the house space well, but would need to be cat tested. She loves walks, toys (the tough kind), and time with her humans. She is treat-motivated and has continued crate training and leash work in her foster home, of which she has made enormous progress in a short time. She would need a home committed to continuing this work as well as addressing her allergy issues through diet and over-the-counter allergy medication. Her foster parents are Emily Z.    The adoption fee for Nova is $200.Please complete our online application form if you are interested in adopting Nova. A volunteer will contact you as soon as possible. Click here to go to the online adoption form All Kalamazoo Animal Rescue dogs & puppies are spayed or neutered prior to adoption. Dogs have been heartworm tested and if appropriate (age and time of year) all dogs and puppies are given heartworm preventative. All are given medication to rid them of roundworms and checked and treated for fleas & ear mites, if needed. Dogs and puppies are given distemper vaccines and depending on how long the pet has been in foster care, additional distemper vaccine(s) may be necessary and the expense will be incurred by the adopter. Any canine over 4 months of age is brought current on the Rabies vaccine. Additional vet care may have been provided depending on the particular animal's needs. Dogs are individually priced as above. Please note that we do not ship dogs and we cannot guarantee that a long trip to see a foster dog will result in an adoption or taking the dog home on that day. It is in the best interest of pooch and owner to enroll in an obedience class soon after adoption. After all, you have a lot to learn about your new friend. The Kalamazoo Dog Training Club offers a discount to owners with newly adopted dogs. Enroll before any behavior problems start - you won't regret it!
