Story
Meet Quack! STRUGGLING IN THE KENNEL ENVIRONMENT-NEEDS A DEDICATED FOSTER! CHECK OUT UPDATES FROM OUTING! Named for his wonderfully webbed feet, this two-year-old handsome hunk of a terrier is 45 pounds of goofy goodness! Quack spent an afternoon at a volunteer's home and was the best house-guest! Quack appears to be house-trained and crate-trained. Looking for someone to watch your favorite shows with? Want to be entertained by Quack tossing around toys to himself? Ready for a pal to explore the outdoors with? PLEASE GIVE QUACK A CHANCE! He is severely stressed at the kennel but calms down once he is out of that environment. Not just a handsome boy, Quack is an engaging boy who absolutely lives to play with his toys! He'll never pass up a game of tug and will keep you entertained with his comical antics day after day. He is also very food-motivated which will be an excellent tool when it comes to training. We are able to take both toys and food away with no issue. He has blast in the yard with his kennel mates and loves to hang with volunteers. Quack also went on an outing to Metamora State Park with some volunteers and he had a great time. He needed help getting in the car, but once he was in, he rode very well and even took a nap! He did great on his leash and was a gentleman the whole time. No outing is complete without a pup cup which he enjoyed before heading back to the kennel. Quack will thrive in a home where he can get daily exercise and have an endless pile of toys to play with. He is highly trainable and we know he'll make you proud. He will need a capable handler who is patient and will provide the structure and encouragement he needs. Of course a cozy bed to call his own would be dream for our darling boy! Based on our evaluation, we feel Quack would do best in an active home with adults or families with kids ages 12 and up. He may have the capacity to live with other dogs of a similar size/energy level and we are happy to do a meet and greet with your family fur baby! If you think Quack could be the guy for you, head to greatlakesdogrescue.com today and submit your application for this dynamic dude!

Story
This sweet boy Bojangles was found wandering the streets of Detroit, nearly frozen with wounds from an embedded collar, and was taken in by some kind people who didn’t turn their backs on him when he needed help most. Shortly after, Bojangles was diagnosed with an intestinal blockage and required surgery. Thankfully, he came through it like a champ and is now healed, happy, and ready for his next chapter. Bojangles is approximately 6-8 months old, up to date on all vaccines, and has the best little personality. He’s dog, cat, and kid friendly, on the smaller side, and honestly… absolutely adorable. He is quickly learning obedience commands, does well in a home environment, has mastered potty-training, and loves snuggles! Bojangles can be timid at first while he explores new things but he pushes through with his puppy curiosity. After such a rough start, Bojangles deserves nothing but stability, kindness, and a family who will love him forever. We’re so grateful we get to be part of his journey. -Estimated 6-8 months old -Playful and affectionate personality -Dog-friendly -Cat-friendly -Kid-friendly -Up to date on vaccinations -Adoption fee: $250 + $200 spay/neuter deposit where the deposit is refunded upon spay/neuter completion Apply to adopt here: https://form.jotform.com/251953900942157

Story
Some dogs carry more than their fair share of challenges, and Noel is one of them. This sweet and loving girl is blind and also battling through heartworm treatment. Since coming into our care - at first terrified and so confused - Noel has blossomed into the gentle gal that she is. Noel is dog-friendly and has a relaxed, easygoing demeanor. Despite everything she’s been through, she asks for very little - a quiet place to rest, patience while she completes heartworm treatment, and a human who sees her not for her limitations, but for her resilience. We are looking for that special somebody who is interested in fostering or foster-to-adopt (while she finishes treatment). 55 lb pit mix 4-5 years old Blind Dog-friendly Kennel-trained Potty-trained Up to date on vaccines Will be spayed after HW treatment completes Apply to foster here: https://form.jotform.com/252927582638167 Apply to adopt here: https://form.jotform.com/251953900942157

Story
Cane is a true survivor with the sweetest soul. Trapped after spending days fending for himself in freezing winter temperatures, this boy came into rescue pretty beat up with multiple bite wounds and signs he may have been hit by a car. Despite everything he’s been through, Cane has shown nothing but gentleness and resilience. Now safe in foster care with his amazing foster family, Cane has been vetted, groomed, and is adjusting beautifully. He’s very smart, friendly, and loves all people he meets! His foster reports that he's settled in well with his new dog and cat friends. Cane may be slightly hard of hearing, which hasn’t slowed him down at all; he remains attentive and eager to connect with his people. -4-5 years old -60 lbs -Dog-friendly with slow, proper introductions -Cat-friendly too! -Up to date on vaccinations -Heartworm negative -Neutered -Adoption fee: $250 Once tossed aside and forced to survive on the streets, Cane is ready for a fresh start...No more cold nights, no more running scared. He deserves a home that will love him unconditionally for the rest of his days. Could that be you? Apply to adopt here: https://form.jotform.com/251953900942157
