Story
We rescued Sadie during Covid. We don’t know much about her background other than her not always getting along with other dogs. Although we have boarded her with other dogs and she’s done fine. We got her trained to be a bit more obedient. She loves to play ball and tug. She loves to cuddle and receive belly rubs. We have a new baby in the house and it’s been tough navigating a new child and finding time to spend with Sadie. We are looking to rehome her with someone who can give her the love and attention she deserves.

Story
Meet Spanky: Your New Best Friend! Spanky is a 2 year old lovable, medium-energy sweetheart who’s as affectionate as they come! This pup is fully house trained and crate trained, happily sleeping through the night in his kennel. He even considers it his happy place. While Spanky isn’t a barker or a jumper, he’s a certified wiggle master, wiggling his way into everyone’s heart.  Spanky is dog-friendly (no small dogs) and absolutely adores children, though his playful zoomies might make him best suited for a home with older kids. He’s also a fantastic walking, running, or hiking partner, as he walks beautifully on a leash, knows the heel command, and loves adventure. Car rides? No problem—he’s a pro when buckled in with his harness seatbelt! Spanky knows an impressive list of commands, including sit, down, stay, come, place, and heel. He’s not just smart—he’s also incredibly affectionate and playful. Spanky loves cuddles, kisses, and carrying things in his mouth, whether it’s his food bowl or favorite toy. His quirky habit of wandering around with his bowl is guaranteed to make you smile! While Spanky loves all people and would thrive in a home with someone familiar with pitties, he does have one big no-go: cats. He simply cannot be around them. He is also a big chewer, so we hope he has lots of chew toys in his future home! A fenced yard is also a preference for this playful guy to safely enjoy his outdoor time. Spanky is happiest when he’s with his humans, whether it’s snuggling on the couch, playing, or just hanging out. He’s fine with or without another big dog sibling, and he’d even make a great work buddy if you can take him along! If you’re looking for a loyal, affectionate, and fun-loving companion who will bring endless joy to your life, Spanky is your guy. Don’t wait to meet this special pup—he’s ready to wiggle his way into your heart forever! DISCLAIMER- Breed type is determined based on general appearance and behavioral characteristics and cannot be guaranteed unless DNA test results or AKC registration were provided at intake. ***SPANKY IS FOSTERED IN OHIO, BUT AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION AND TRANSPORT OUT OF STATE. Read below for more information. Our dogs are transported to a predetermined location agreed upon by the rescue. The adoption contract and fee are finalized prior to transport. As a Pep's Pals Rescue direct adoption, the adoption interview/meet and greet occurs on video call (Skype, FB Messenger call, Facetime, etc).  Our adoption fee is $250 plus health certificate and transport if you are out of Ohio & can't travel to Ohio to get him (varies by location). This fee includes all current basic vaccinations, deworming, microchip (with lifetime registration), fecal analysis, neuter, and a heartworm test. All dogs are current on flea/tick and heartworm prevention. He is currently going through heartworm treatment, which is covered by the rescue and not contagious. A health exam will be completed and a health certificate issued by a veterinarian within 10 days of transport if he has to be transported to out of state adopter. ##2003590##

Story
MEET TOMMY! (Descriptor: Friendly) This distinguished gentleman is 7 years old and weighs in at a solid 70 lbs. (He may be a little vertically challenged and a tad rotund, but he’s approaching his golden years so who’s judging?) Tommy came to us as part of our community outreach program when his person passed away. Since he's been in our care, Tommy has become our unofficial mascot. He is friendly, sweet, and beautifully trained.  Tommy plays well with male and female dogs around his size but would be perfectly content to curl up at your feet (or next to you on the couch…what a treat that would be!) and just be your guy all by himself.  Tommy is a calm and laid back dog and loves to sun himself in the yard or take walkies in the lane or in the woods. He will occasionally pull on his leash, but we remind him to be 'easy', and he comes back to the side of his handler. Tommy knows all of his commands, and when you tell him 'down,' he will solicit a belly rub. If you really want to make Tommy sing, give him a bum scratch and you’ll be friends for life! We adore Tommy and think as far as mascots go, he's the bestest boy. We also think he deserves a home where he can live out his senior years with a chill family that matches his (relatively low) energy level. Steps may be a problem for him in the future, so a rancher style home may be ideal. Tommy’s adoption donation fee is $350, which includes spay/neuter, routine vetting and a microchip. You can apply for Tommy by filling out our online application, which is found on our website www.tarashouse.org.  Please email us at info@tarashouse.net with any questions. October 21, 2024, 8:45 pm

Story
HI! I'M CASS!   I am full of SASS and have even been called CASStastic! I'm a 5 year old, 64 lb, spayed pit bull mix who enjoys the finer things in life. My ideal human will let me snuggle on the couch and sleep in bed with you. You will also rub my belly whenever I give you the 'look' with my soft brown eyes. You will also live in a rural area with a fenced in yard that preferably doesn't back up to any other property and doesn't have access to other animals entering the yard. I've never been exposed to children, so maybe yours are grown?    Like many beauties my age, I have a fear of missing out, and if I think something is happening that I don't know about, I get hyper-focused, as my trainer calls it. My trainer said this means it's hard for me to listen to her when I'd rather focus on a squirrel. Or a leaf. Or a deer. Or a bumble bee. I know many commands and am eager to learn and listen. We are still working on my leash skills, because I get “hyper-focused,” but my trainer says I am now walking on a loose leash more than 50% of the time! I am improving!   I love my toys, soft blankets, and playing in the sprinkler. When I see the sprinkler, I smile so hard and show my adorable crooked bottom teeth!    As well as basic obedience, I am house-broken and crate trained and know my crate is my special spot. I am very treat-motivated, and while I do gently accept treats as a positive reinforcement, I don't like anyone to watch me when I eat my meals. It’s ok to watch me eat treats, though. To keep me working on my focusing and leash skills, a very nice human sponsored 7 training classes with my trainer to keep me going in the right direction! I am truly CASStastic and will be the best dog I can be!   Cass’s adoption donation fee is $375, which includes spay/neuter, routine vetting and a microchip. You can apply for Cass by filling out our online application, which is found on our website www.tarashouse.net or www.tarashouse.org. We advise that adopters do not send payment or deposits for pets prior to adopting.  ***** Zeus is 12 years old and weighs 70lbs.  He is neutered, is microchipped, but he's not up to date on his vaccines.  Zeus is perfectly fine around cats, kids, and adults, but no longer good around other dogs.  He dislikes guns and has anxiety in cars. Bite Incident:  On 12 December 2022, in Essex, Maryland, Zeus bit/attacked another dog over food.  The bite didn't break the skin and Animal Control was not involved. Zeus's guardian explains why she is rehoming him:   "In his old age, he's gotten aggressive with other dogs and gotten into a fight with our other 3 dogs.  He's perfectly fine around cats, kids, adults, but not other dogs." Zeus's guardian states the following about children, dogs, and cats:  Zeus has lived with and otherwise been around children, from 1-14 years of age.  He's protective and likes to play with older kids and is gentle with younger kids; also, he leaves cats alone.  Therefore, his guardian recommends his living with children and cats.  However, Zeus lives with dogs and has become aggressive with other dogs, so his guardian doesn't recommend his living with dogs. Zeus's guardian describes his ideal future home:  "He needs a house with no other dogs and a fenced-in yard." " Nova's guardian states the reason she has made the decision to rehome her:  "I recently had a toddler enter the home who she is acting weird toward, and I do not want something bad to happen.  We are unable to let her out during visits with the toddler due to this behavior." Past/present medical history:  " She has been allergy tested with the results being: Cod, goats milk, HOUSE FLYS, ANTS, beef, buckwheat, chicken, chicken eggs, cockroaches, cod liver oil, corn, duck, flaxseed oil, fleas, GRASS, Lima beans, mosquitoes, MOTHS, pork, rabbits, salmon, sardines, shellfish, turkey, wheat, white rice." We never let the child around her without a gate/glass door in between," Nova's guardian states the following about dogs:  Nova currently lives with dogs so her guardian recommends her living with dogs, stating " Nova  currently lives with 2 other male dogs. She is super friendly with them but tends to get pushed around causing her to push back. No attacks have happened but I believe she would do best in a single animal situation." Nova's guardian states the following about cats:  Nova has lived with cats so her guardian recommends her living with cats, stating "she does not mind the cats whatsoever."
