Story
Rosie has been with my family for about 4 years and she came to us from a friend who adopted her from a shelter, so we are unsure of her background. Rosie is a snuggle bug kind of girl and very much a lover. She is extremely energetic and loves to run! She can play too wildly and gets too into it from time to time. Our reason for rehoming her is due to the wild play and the issues that stem from that. Currently we are struggling to get our children to not engage in rough housing with her because she seems to have very strong hunting/chasing etc. instincts. I recommend that she is in a home with a calm atmosphere with no smaller pets whatsoever and potentially no children. She is very adaptable to the environment which also includes when things get chaotic around her she feeds into that as well. We love Rosie so very much, but the circumstances in our home are not changing and it is currently not ideal for our family or Rosie. She needs a loving home that will guide her and train her.

Story
Tank is a 2-year-old male XL Bully with a heart just as big as his head—and trust us, it’s big. He came into our care after being abandoned by his owner and left with someone who truly wanted the best for him but couldn’t meet his needs. Thanks to that kind human reaching out for help, Tank landed safely with us and is now absolutely thriving. When Tank first arrived, he was on the skinny side, and we’re still working on helping him fill out a bit. The good news? Other than that, he’s healthy, happy, and more than ready to find his forever home. Tank is genuinely one of those dogs who wakes up excited to be alive. Whether he’s lounging with his people, chewing on a favorite toy, or soaking up attention, he does everything with pure joy and gratitude. He adores people—every single one. He’s never met a stranger, only future best friends. Despite being over 70 lbs, Tank is convinced he’s a lap dog and will happily try to climb into your lap or gently press his giant noggin against yours to ask for affection. While he’s past the puppy stage, Tank still has that playful, puppy-like spirit. He loves chewing on bones, playing with stuffies, and generally being a goofy guy. He does occasionally mouth arms or hands during play, but he’s learning his manners and improving all the time. Tank does wonderfully with children and is currently indifferent to other dogs. With time and comfort, he may become more social, but he’s perfectly content focusing on his humans. He’s fully potty-trained, crate-trained, and knows his basic commands like sit, shake, and coming when called. Tank would do well in just about any home looking to welcome a loving, silly, affectionate companion with a very large head and an even larger heart. In return, he promises endless love, snuggles, laughs, and smiles. If you’re ready for a loyal shadow who thinks you’re the center of the universe—Tank is ready for you.

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Front leg amputation, FHOSay hello to Homer, our three-legged wonder with a spirit that’s anything but broken. At 2.5 years old, this extra-large sweetheart came into rescue after a serious injury left one of his front legs beyond saving and his hips in need of surgical intervention as well. But don’t let the missing leg fool you—Homer has adapted like a champ and gets around just fine, with that same big heart and loyal nature pit bulls are known for. Homer is a laid-back lovebug who enjoys hanging out with his people, sunbathing in the yard, and soaking up gentle affection. He’s friendly with other dogs, especially those who can provide  a calm vibe for him to match - no rough-and-tumble play styles for this guy, just chill companionship and good company. He’d do best with a respectful, easygoing dog friend or as your one-and-only snuggle buddy. He's great with older kids (ages 5+) who can understand his physical boundaries and help him navigate the world with care. But cats? Not Homer's jam, so a feline-free home is a must. Despite everything he’s been through, Homer has held onto his soft, sweet soul. All he’s missing now is a forever family to love him for the incredible dog he is—three legs and all. If you’re looking for a loyal companion with the soul of a survivor and a whole lot of love to give, Homer might just be your hero. Homer’s adoption fee is $250 and includes his neuter, microchip, current vaccines and preventatives plus a free basic training course at Cedar Run Company #2 in Hiawatha. Homer is seeking a home as an indoor pet only, Last Hope requires that you have a history of having kept any previous pets altered, kept current on vaccines and preventatives and as indoor pets only. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Chappell is a one-of-a-kind girl hoping to land her happily ever after. This young girl joined us from Cedar Rapids Animal Control as a neglect case. She was battling mange and needed some extra TLC - but with good care and lots of love, she's now healthy, glowing, and ready to take on the world! Chappell has that classic puppy spirit: playful, wiggly, and always looking for fun. She is dog friendly and eager to make canine friends who can keep up with her energy. She has not been around smaller dogs or cats yet, so she would prefer a home without them. Chappell is still working on learning the basics, but she's smart and will thrive with a family that is patient and consistent. Now, she can be a little mouthy when it comes to treats and playtime so a home with no small children would be best until she can polish her manners. If you're looking for a joyful, goofy, and loyal pup who's already proven she's a survivor, Chappell is ready to bring her big heart and puppy energy into your life! Chappell's adoption fee is $250 and includes her spay, microchip, current vaccinations and preventatives, plus a free basic training course at Cedar Run #2 in Hiawatha. Chappell is seeking an indoor only home. Last Hope requires that adopters have a history of having kept their pets altered, current on vaccines and preventatives, and as indoor only pets. Our adoption process includes a background check, vet history check, and a home visit. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Front L Leg AmputatedMeet Kenny! He's a 3-legged wonder dog with terrific ears and a whole lot of love to share! Kenny does great with people of all ages and loves everyone he meets. He tends to match other dogs' energies so he would do best in a home with a calmer but playful dog near his size or he could easily live as an only dog. When it comes to meeting other dogs, he will require a proper, controlled introduction. He is not a great match for someone looking for a "dog park type" dog. He will need a home without cats/small animals.  Kenny is potty trained and has already learned how to sit. Given his young age, his adopters will enjoy his FREE training class at Cedar Run Company #2 in Hiawatha that is included with his adoption fee. Kenny is such a smart pup, he's sure to be a star pupil! Kenny had his front leg amputated after a badly neglected injury left the tissue too damaged to repair his leg. No further surgeries or complications from this leg amputation are expected and Kenny is an active and healthy young guy who will grow to be a good sized large breed dog! Kenny is seeking a home with a 6 foot fence because despite being a front leg amputee this boy has some serious "ups," when he is excited outside he can jump high enough to almost clear a shorter fence.  Kenny's adoption fee is $300 and includes his neueter, microchip, current vaccinations and preventatives plus a free 4-week training class at Cedar Run #2. Last Hope requires that all animals be kept as indoor only pets, and that adopters have a history of having kept their pets altered and kept current on vaccinations and preventatives. Our adoption process includes a background check, vet history check, and a home visit. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Hello, I’m Jax. I am 2 years old and I’m one of a kind! I had a hard start to life after another dog attacked me when I was just a baby. I am all healed up now after the amazing care I received from my foster family. You can only tell it happened when I close my jaw fast; I sound like a guppy when my teeth close together. It’s super cute, some might even believe I belong in the water. Lately I spend most of my day pretending to be a turtle stuck on my back. Turtle, dog, guppy. I’m still not sure which I am to be honest.  I am very smart, some may call me an educated man. I have taken many classes and I passed them all. Plus, I am still learning every day! All those classes have taught me to be a distinguished gentleman. Everyone swoons when I stretch with my arms crossed. I even lounge on the couch with my arms crossed. I can’t help myself, I am just fancy.  If I could describe a perfect home for me, it would definitely include a brother or sister canine to spend my days with. I have lived with small dogs but I get bored and would rather wrestle with someone my size. My current foster brother is my size and we love playing together. The only thing I love more than  playing with him, is going outside! In fact, “outside” is my favorite word. If it were up to me, I would play outside for hours as long as you sit out there with me. If you go inside, I may try to make my way inside too. I like following my friends so we can hang out. I like older kids that I can lay with, babies are too small to cuddle with, so no thank you.  Now let’s talk about amenities. I am a pool boy through and through. I love jumping in the pool and getting my exercise. A little doggie pool is perfect but I’m interested in bigger pools too. Oh, and if we are being picky, I would love a fenced in yard to chase bunnies and squirrels. I love staring out the fence in wait of my next chase.  When I come inside, I’m ready to nap. I love a nice soft dog bed, but if I’m too warm, the cold hardwood floor is my preference. After a quick nap or three, I’ll let you know when I’m ready to play. A few barks usually does the trick. I only talk when I want something but it is few and far between. I thrive on routine, so if I know what to expect, I’m a pretty quiet guy.  After a long day, I go right into my kennel for a good night’s sleep. After 7-8 hours I might whimper a little asking for you to let me out so I can start my day, but you have to be right next to me to hear it. In the morning, I wait for those magic words: “Are you hungry?” Sometimes it takes me a minute to eat my food because I like to hide it for later. The more secure I feel with you, the less I do that, so after a while I might just stop hiding it entirely.  Since I’m still young, I have too much energy to be kenneled all day. I would do great at day care, but I mostly love being at home with some supervision. I don’t need a close eye, just someone to make sure I don’t eat Kleenex out of the garbage. I will not eat your furniture, but I do love snacking on paper towels. When I get to play outside often, I behave myself, but 8 hours of no exercise breaks would just be too long. A guy has got to play!  I love going for a car ride. There is nothing better than the wind in my jowls. If you look in the mirror, you will see nothing but smiles in the back seat.  I can come across as shy when you first meet me, but once I know I can trust you, we will be best friends. You will know you are special to me when I come lean on your leg asking for a scratch, or sit on your lap just to get a hug. It doesn’t take much for me to trust, just a little patience and daily routine is all I ask.  Like I said, I know I am a one of a kind gem, but I’m looking for a one of a kind home. If you want to meet up and see if we are a good fit, reach out! I can’t wait to fall in love.    Jax’s adoption fee is $250 and includes his neuter, microchip, current vaccines, monthly preventatives and a free training course at Cedar Run Company in Hiawatha.
