Story
Pax is 1- to 2-year-old neutered male bully breed. He weighs about 55 lbs (should probably be closer to 60 lbs). He was adopted from shelter 8/26/24. His history was unknown. He was found tied to tree. He spent almost 2 months at shelter. He was neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped there. We have two existing adult dogs that Pax was brought into. We attempted to integrate our dogs with Pax very slowly and individually. Unfortunately, there has been aggression from Pax to our existing dogs on separate occasions. He would be best most likely in an only dog household. It is unknown how he would act with cats or small children. With all the above said, he is a smart, sweet, loving, playful and inquisitive dog with many amazing qualities. He loves to be around people and snuggle. He loves to have ‘zoomies’ and run around like a little nut. He is housetrained and gets fed in his kennel. He is a good walker without pulling much with harness. He will only go to a home that will love him.

Story
If you've never considered having a dog because you work during the day, Cheerio may be the dog for you! Cheerio was rescued from the Clayton County Animal Control facility in Georgia where he was on the euthanasia list, and has been in foster since the beginning of June 2023. He is a beautiful gray-brown guy (think Weimaraner color), on the small side (less than 40 lbs), with a long body and short legs, estimated to be about 2 years old, microchipped, neutered and up-to-date on vaccinations and heartworm/flea/tick preventative. DNA says he is mostly a mix of American Pit Bull Terrier, Rat Terrier and Chihuahua! When he first arrived he was very suspicious of people and would actually snap at a hand reaching back past his head, especially when he was in his crate, making it difficult to get him out to potty. As a matter of fact, the information that came with him stated he had bitten someone at the vet's office where he was taken after rescue. He has come a long way since then and is a generally happy boy, tolerant of being handled (except by a vet wielding a syringe!), and quite the snuggle bug, wanting to be a lap dog. He has met several new dogs while in foster and does fine with slow introductions. He also did beautifully at an adoption event where he was fine with being petted by adults and children alike. The biggest issue with Cheerio was his intense dislike of cats. Because his foster home has two resident cats, he had to spend a lot of time in his crate, only being allowed out when the cats were safely shut in another room, so he got very used to being crated. Eventually, he became used to them and was allowed out of his crate most of the time except for overnight, feeding and when home alone. Unfortunately, he has decided he hates one of the resident dogs and they have to be kept separated, so he is back to being in his crate most of the time. The positive of all this is that he would likely be a good fit for someone who works all day, possibly living in an apartment, since he is used to spending a lot of time in a crate. In his foster home he is taken on two long walks (between 3/4 -1 mile) a day; the first is an off-leash walk in the morning and a leash walk in the evening, with several trips (not walks) out-to-potty during the day. He is reliable off-leash in the yard and will come when called to go in. He should do fine living with someone on a work schedule. If you're away from home during the day, all of his crating experience here will serve you both well since he's used to it! Cheerio is basically a very good boy and he will most likely be just as good a buddy for an adopter if you give him slow introductions and plenty of time and space to gain his trust. Fostered in Fort Wayne.

Story
Gaston is a very friendly, wiggle boy. When I picked him up from Ruff House someone was calling him Gus for short lol. So I called him Gus & it kinda stuck. It's easier to call out I think & fits him🐶 Besides wasn't Gaston in Beauty & the Beast a jerk? This guy is in no way a jerk. Lol Gus is pretty aloof and still needs to be guided to where you want him to go. I purchased training modules from Solid K9 Training (similar training Michael uses) and we have been training a little on sit, down & walk/heel using food rewards. Food works every time but he'll get overstimulated if you let him. Oh and he loves baby carrots👶🥕 Most of the time he's pretty calm but when he's ready for attention he'll let you know. He likes to get lap cuddles and belly rubs. I mean full on, back in your lap, belly rubs... for 15 minutes or longer if you're willing to appease him that long... He likes to hang out with us humans but likes his kennel just to chill & decompress. He is kenneled at night and then it's crate & rotate with my dog when we're home. He loves car rides and pup cups. He is tethered for safety but could ride without tether he is that good. He behaves pretty well in public. He will pull you around if you let him so he needs firm guidance. He met a little girl (3ish) at tractor supply one day and was very gentle with her, other than that he hasn't been around children. I have not observed any negative reactions to people. He walks well on leash but still needs work on heeling. He sits perfect at corners before crossing. Saying easy or whoa gets him to slow up if he's pulling. He kennels up like a perfect southern gentleman and doesn't make a peep, except the occasional fluffing of his bed. He will let you know when he needs out or when it's getting close to dinner time. His vocalization is pretty funny 🐶😅 He's not food reactive. He does get excited for food and can't wait for the bowl to hit the floor. He still needs work on calming down before eating. I use a slow feed bowl for him. He doesn't really fetch, he prefers to play keep away and tug. He likes chew toys. He loves his indestructible Goughnut. He is good with other dogs so far, he doesn't like being mounted or dominated. Facts about 𝙂𝘼𝙎𝙏𝙊𝙉: 🐾 Staffie mix 🦴 Estimated 3 years old; 60lbs 🐾 Neutered and fully vaccinated 🦴 Heartworm negative 🎉 🐾 Dog and kid friendly 📝 Adoption application: https://form.jotform.com/secondchancespetsanctuarytx/Second-Chances-Adoption-Application 📍 Being fostered in Danville, IN

Story
Meet Rocco! This handsome and charming boy was found as a stray and never claimed. He is currently in boarding and is looking for a foster or forever home. Rocco is estimated to be 4 to 5 years old and weighs 50 lbs. He absolutely loves people- playing with them, cuddling with them- he enjoys it all! Rocco does well with other dogs, but seems a little too interested in cats. He is strong and would do best with a family that can provide activity for him. Rocco is neutered, current on vaccines, and negative for heartworms. If you have room in your heart for this gorgeous guy, please get in touch with us! Thank you for your interest in adopting from HMF.  All of our pets are spayed/neutered, current on vaccinations, microchipped and otherwise healthy, unless noted in the description.  Our adoption area is within 50 miles of Franklin/Bargersville, IN.
