Story
Remy!     DOB: 9/2020    Weight: 40lbs  Over a year later and Remi is still on the market! She’s a small and very muscular looking pittie mix. She is completely house trained and does decent in the crate so long as she’s not in there too crazy long. She does fantastic with cats and has lived in a home fine with a small dog. Needs to meet any potential larger dogs in the home. Kids 14+ or ones that can respect her space are needed in the home. She previously lived with kids and was surrendered after the one (10yr) wouldn’t stay out of her face while she was sleeping and she nipped at him. She tried to tell him she didn’t like it but he didn’t listen to the cues. In a good home setting, Remi is a very friendly girl and loves to be with her people. No food or toy aggression issues. She likes to sleep in bed with her humans and is crazy about her chew toys. Toys are her life but, but she needs indestructible ones as she can chew through just about any toy. Remi likes having a doggie companion to play with, but should meet any potential ones.  She knows how to sit and takes nicely, very food motivated. Always down for an adventure outside but she’ll let you know when she’s tired. Enjoys car rides and does fairly well for baths. Her flaws include some anxiety that leads her to get worked up at certain things. She will try to bolt out of any door that is open and needs to learn to wait. When out on walks she does wonderful until she sees other dogs then she barks and carries on, throws herself around. Needs to be corrected before it starts, something to work at.  Her adoption fee is $175. That helps us to cover worming, vaccines, spay/neuter, heart worm test, and microchip. We offer a 2-3 week trial. If for some reason it does not work out, you’ll be refunded $100 of your fee. If interested in adopting her please fill out an application on our NEW website. https://www.newliferescues.org . If you have issues, send us a message through our Facebook. Came to shelter 3/2022. ***YOU MUST FILL OUT AN APPLICATION BEFORE WE DO ANY MEET AND GREETS. QUESTIONS? CONTACT pcpoundpuppies1@gmail.com Our standard adoption fee is $175 ($250 for puppies 6 months and under, or small dogs 20lbs or below) which covers a portion of the dog's vetting costs. The adoption process includes the completion of an application followed by an interview. Click here to submit an adoption application:

Story
Nova!       DOB: 3/2019     Weight: 53lbs   Nova is a VERY sweet pit mix. A major cuddler and a professional butt wiggler. Loves scratches and belly rubs. Enjoys sunbathing when it’s nice out. Rolling in the grass is a must for her everytime she goes out lol. She does well for baths and car rides. Good with most other dogs, will even play in the yard with them. She does have a prey drive for smaller animals, so no cats or itty bitty dogs. Great with people and kids! She knows how to sit and will take treats nicely. Not much food or toy aggression. Nova is a quiet dog with us, but she’ll attract attention with her weird little gremlin howls when out in public. She practically throws herself onto people for attention, so if you’re sitting on the ground be aware. She had it rough before coming to us. A puppy maker for someone until they didn’t need her, then passed to multiple different homes. She has been in foster with us for awhile now where we know that she’s house and crate trained. She does need apoquel meds for her allergies. Roughly $100 a month at the vet she’s currently with. Story
Rocky!     DOB: 5/17/2016     Weight: 66lbs   Rocky! This hunky guy is looking for another shot at a forever home too! He’s currently stuck in our overcrowded kennels. He’s a stalky, brindle and white pit bull terrier mix. He is completely house trained but will mark when he first arrives at a new place. Lots of dogs tend to do that. He’s been fine in his crate/kennel. He does excellent with other dogs! Previously lived with a 3 year old kid and did fine with him. Rocky does well for baths and car rides. Knows how to sit and takes treats nicely. No food or toy aggression. Rocky was adopted for several months but was returned due to him protecting what he believed to be his. He’s NOT a fan of strangers walking in or around the house or his people. He’s perfectly fine with HIS people, it’s new guests he doesn’t like. His adopter had muzzled him when friends came over and he did decent. Most of the time they put him up in a room. Rocky needs a proper introduction with new people outside of the house before allowing that person inside. His home was also surrounded by a solid wooden fence. A lady walked into the yard and Rocky had went after her. Rocky‘s ideal home would be one with a doggie playmate and someone who is very dog savy with larger breeds. With the right work he’d make a great guard dog and protector of the home. He was very loving towards the people that adopted him and he’s had no problems meeting people here at the shelter. It’s just once he gets into a home, he will become protective of the area and his people. His adoption fee is $175. That helps us to cover worming, vaccines, spay/neuter, heart worm test, and microchip. We offer a 2-3 week trial. If for some reason it does not work out, you’ll be refunded $100 of your fee. If interested in adopting him please fill out an application on our NEW website. https://www.newliferescues.org . If you have issues, send us a message through our Facebook. Meatloaf!   DOB: 12/2020   Weight: 55lbs We're not quite sure how he earned the name, but we love it! Meatloaf is a very sweet little pittie mix. Story
Hello! My name is Spruce. I'm a gentle soul with a heart of gold. I'm 4 years old. I have a whole lot of love to give. And everyone I meet comments on how handsome I am! When I go to my buddy's home, I'm a perfect gentleman. I don't jump on people, I give gentle kisses, and I like to play with toys. I'm learning that things aren't as scary as they may seem, like getting into a car. At first, I just couldn't do it, but now I jump right in. In the car, I sit or lie quietly in the back seat and play with my toys, and I may even snooze if we've had a busy day. One of my favorite activities is going to get a pup cup from Starbucks after a long walk. I am heartworm positive--treatment is handled by VHS once I find my forever home. I'm a happy pup ready for all sorts of adventures!

Story
Currently in foster care! Please contact the shelter to schedule a meet and greet. Notes from my foster family: "This girl will make the perfect family pet! Some things about Shadow: 1. She has SO much love to give. She loves pets, snuggles, and affection. She also loves a good chew toy and a playful tug of war session. 2. She loves to sleep at the foot of the bed and on the couch next to you. 3. She would do best in a home with children because she adores them and is very gentle around them. She watches out for the kids, licks their tears, and even sits and watches them from the window when they are outside playing. Occasionally whining when they are out of sight. 4. She has had no problem getting along with our other dog but will try to move ahead of her for pets and affection. 5. She is potty trained. Not one accident since being in her foster home! 6. She already knows sit and recently "paw." 7. She is very gentle when accepting treats with a very soft mouth"

Story
Hey there, I'm LuLu, formerly known as Lou, the seasoned and sweet Pit ready to bring some sunshine into your life! At 10 years young, I may be a bit older, but trust me, I've still got plenty of pep in my step and a whole lot of love to give. You should see me get excited when my foster people get the leash out. I wiggle all over. Sure, I may not know all the fancy tricks, but who needs tricks when you've got my winning personality? I do know the basics and am working on following hand signals. I may have medium energy levels, but I'm a breeze to walk and always enjoy a leisurely stroll, especially if it involves plenty of sniffing along the way. Yep, I'm a bit of a professional sniffer - I just can't resist exploring all the fascinating scents the world has to offer! Oh, and did I mention what a good girl I am? Yep, it's true! I'm easygoing, affectionate, and oh-so-sweet. Plus, I get along just fine with humans of all shapes and sizes. Whether we're cuddling on the couch or taking a leisurely stroll around the neighborhood, I'll be by your side every step of the way. I love living in my foster home. It is so much better than a kennel. I am a bed hog, but I know my humans really love my cuddles and snores. I like being a comfort to them. I give gentle kisses to let them know I care. Living in a foster home after several months in the shelter means the folks at VHS get great info about me. I even got to spend a weekend with my foster dad's aunt and got to know her 2 dogs. All three of us canines got along great. Mostly we just laid around and co-habitated. Set up a date to meet me, and the humans will go on and on telling you about me. With me as your loyal companion, you'll never feel lonely again. So, if you're looking for a mature and mellow friend to share your days with, look no further than me, LuLu! Let's embark on this next chapter of life together - I can't wait to meet you!

Story
Hey there! I'm Dunkin Butterbeans, a fun-loving 2.5-year-old Pit who somehow found myself as a stray before being rescued. I must have had quite an adventure out there, even running into a skunk at some point! But don't worry, I'm all clean now, and hopefully, I've learned my lesson about those stinky critters. I'm a silly boy with a playful spirit, and I love to make people laugh. The staff here say I did great during my bath, which makes me think I'm a pretty easygoing guy. I'm always up for a new adventure, but I'm also ready to settle down and find a forever home where I can get all the love and care I deserve.

Story
Momo!      DOB: 2/2018       Weight: 70 lbs   MoMo is a very handsome Boxer mix! He is great with people and kids. Always super excited to see you and turns into a crazy wiggle butt. However, Momo prefers to be the only child. Doesn’t care much for cats or other dogs. Walks around them fine, but will pick a fight if they get too close. He loves to ride in the car and has a medium energy level. Likes to get out for walks and sniff around. Knows how to sit and will take handouts nicely. No resource guarding issues. He’s very sweet. Could use a good food schedule and some more exercise. Momo has lived in a house for the past two years and is used to the house life. He is house and crate trained of course.  His adoption fee is $175. That helps us to cover worming, vaccines, spay/neuter, heart worm test, and microchip. We offer a 2-3 week trial.
