Story
Ashton has been on quite a journey, and through it all, he’s kept his gentle heart. With every challenge he’s faced, he’s remained the sweetest, most loyal companion. Despite everything, Ashton still loves a good cuddle, melting into his favorite people for comfort and closeness. He’s living proof of resilience, with a spirit as strong as it is loving.Found as a stray in May of 2022, Ashton was adopted in early 2023, where he won everyone over with his affectionate nature. Known to be a bit of an escape artist, he’s been on quite a few adventures. Recently, Ashton found his way back to us and is ready for a new start with a family who can give him all the stability and care he deserves. He’s eager to settle down, enjoy life’s simpler pleasures, and finally find his forever place.Ashton’s ideal home is one with children 13 or older, where everyone can understand and respect his needs. He’s looking for a cat-free environment with people ready to provide a structured, loving home, and most importantly, the kind of commitment he’s always given to others. Ashton is loyal to his core and is looking for someone who sees the special dog he is—a pup who’s been through it all and still chooses to love.If you’re ready for a loyal friend who gives endless love in return, Ashton can’t wait to meet you.

Story
Zeus` Compatibility:Dogs - Meet & GreetCat Test - Passed!Kids - Prefers grown-upsTalk about bad luck. Zeus just can`t seem to catch a break, no matter how hard he tries. Despite his troubles, he`s a gem of a dog with a heart full of longing for a place to call home. So far, his journey has been marred by hardship, leaving him with a lingering fear of men that casts a shadow over his gentle soul. He`s ready to find a loving family who will give him the patience and care he deserves.According to his previous owner, Zeus has lived with both cats and dogs. He reportedly gets along well with his furry friends, although he might play a bit roughly with cats. With a little supervision and guidance, he has the potential to become a great playmate. Zeus appears to thrive with a consistent routine, and with your guidance, he should settle into perfect bathroom habits. He`s eager to learn and impress you with his good manners. Though he may bark at first, it`s merely a shield against the uncertainties of his past. Once you earn his trust, you`ll discover a playful and loving pup buried beneath the fear and doubt. Zeus has shown remarkable progress with his training, a testament to his willingness to learn and adapt. Zeus would do best in a home without young children, where he can enjoy a calm and stable environment. This allows him to shine and show off his best self.Despite his rough start, Zeus still holds onto hope, dreaming of a forever home where he can finally belong. He`s had his share of disappointments, but he`s not giving up just yet! Zeus believes that a happy every after is out there for him. Sammie`s Compatibility:Dogs - Meet & GreetCats - No, thank youKids - Yes, pre-teens and older kidsSammie is here to steal your heart! This gentle girl knows how to make people laugh with her adorable tooth chomps when she gets excited. Since moving in with her foster mom, Sammie has gone from a nervous pup to a sweet, loving companion who’s ready to find her forever home.Sammie’s favorite pastimes include shopping trips to hardware and pet stores, where she eagerly awaits her favorite treat: pup cups at the drive-thru! She’s also a fan of snuggling, taking walks, car rides, and running zoomies in the yard. And guess what? She recently discovered a love for playing in water after a fun pool day, adding even more charm to her already sparkling personality.Sammie would love a home where someone is around frequently. She’s built up her confidence and can handle being left alone for a few hours, but she’d be sad if left alone all day. She does best with slow introductions to other dogs and has done great with calmer dogs after a proper intro. Sammie would love a cat-free home with kids who are at least 12 years of age.Sammie is eager to share her love and happiness with her new forever family. Story
Gentle giant seeks loving home! Meet Rio, a 3-year-old sweetheart in need of a patient and caring family. Rio is good nature shines through his clumsy manners & he is still learning the ropes of basic commands and leash-walking. He is a big boy with an even bigger heart, craving cuddles, playtime, and naps. Rio is unneutered so he'll need a family prepared to take those steps. While good with other dogs and cats, Rio's size makes him better suited for a home with older children (though he is accustomed to young ones as well). He thrives in a spacious environment where he can unleash his playful energy. I am finding a new home for Rio to assist a family member. If you think you could be the loving guide Rio needs, please reach out and I can further connect you with the owner. Let's find this gentle giant the forever home he deserves.

Story
Bella is 2 years old, 47 lbs. We rescued her at 7 weeks old. She is sweet and playful. She is crate trained. She just got spayed last month. Behavior training may help improve her over all being. I can't provide the individual training that she needs. She had total of 9 puppies and she is a great momma dog but her personality has changed and she is no longer getting along with our other female dog. She does get along with our adult male dog. I recommend no dogs in her new home only because her personality she wants all the attention. She was playful with our indoor cat but he has been gated upstairs away from the dogs.

Todd (aka Big Head Todd, aka BHT) was found as a stray near the Monon Trail in downtown Indianapolis on 10/2. He is estimated to be around 1-year old. Some information: -House-trained -Wants attention from his people but also likes a good snooze -Wants to be around his people and will follow you around -Likes going on walks, which is helpful to burn some energy -Knows sit, but needs training on other commands/manners -Likes playing tug-o-war, though it can get him amped up -Likes to chew a chicken-flavored Benebone -Crate-trained, especially if you give him a peanut butter and kibble-filled Kong -Food-motivated. Very interested if there is activity in the kitchen, dinner table, or if you're having a snack -100% of the adoption fee will go to Friends of Indy Animals

Story
I picked up this sweet lady when I found her walking down the street on a summers day without a collar, leash, or person. The vet confirmed that she wasn't microchipped and nothing showed up on Indy lost pets. She is as sweet as any dog that I've ever met and gets along with any people. She does have some anxiety and sometimes will have accidents in the house, usually if she loses sight of you for too long. Loud noises and some other dogs, usually if they are making lots of noise can scare her and she will want to go back inside. She is an older dog but we aren't sure how old she is, sometimes her back hips bother her, but we have found that if she gets regular hip and joint treats that helps alot. She loves to snuggle, and is happy to stay on the couch with you as long as you want. She is a great companion and deserves a good home

Story
Have you been looking for a pup to laugh with you, cry with you, and most importantly cheer you up during your worst moments? Neo would make the perfect man for the job! Neo is a three-year-old dog who has been waiting to find the human who complements him best. Despite his young age, he has already been rehomed at least once and was most recently found as a stray. While he has enjoyed the new digs at HSHC, Neo thinks it’s about time he graduates from a kennel into a forever home.Neo has quickly become a staff favorite, with many saying he has the softest fur in the universe, gives the best snuggles you’ve ever had, and provides constant companionship whenever needed. He’s practically the staff therapy pup! Neo loves to run around and be goofy, but he can also settle down nicely and chill on the couch for hours. The great news is that Neo passed his cat test with flying colors, so if there’s a feline friend at home, they are likely to get along just fine. Plus, Neo absolutely loves sitting in laps, making him the perfect cuddle buddy.Neo isn`t just looking for a new family; he`s looking for a new best friend, companion, and someone to count on for the rest of his days. Do you think you’re the one for him?
