Rocco is the jolliest little guy in the world. As to his size, don't let his photo fool you. He is just 50 pounds, he is not very big. We were able to experience him while spending time at the recent Chatham Park Friend's Paws A Palooza event and he brought joy to all. He loves humans and dogs alike. This boy just wants to play. He really wants canine siblings or friends who will play. Now, he is a bully, so he needs friends who have a little chunk to them. As an addition to your family, this would be one fun, loving, ball of positive energy and affection. He is about a year and a half. Rocco came to Illinois Humane in November of 2023 at the age of 6-7 months when he had a very unfortunate meeting with a school bus. He suffered a closed compound fracture of the tibia and fibula midshaft of the right hind leg, and, the same leg, the coxofemoral head fractured completely along the growth plate separating it from the greater trochanter of femur. Surgery to repair the leg was successful. He has been fostered by a retired orthopedic nurse! In early August, foster Mom noticed that the injured leg was now rotating outward a bit and Rocco was not always putting weight on it. The doctors said this was not uncommon in a dog still growing. There was an area of the leg where the hardware was touching the bone, and the muscle mass had not returned. Corrective surgery was undertaken. Rocco has fully recovered. That right hind leg will never be absolutely 100 percent. But for all lifestyle purposes, it is sound. It does not slow him down!

Sweet Pea is a ~3 year old pit we adopted from Sangamon County Animal control in August. She is fully vetted and spayed. I have two 7 year old dogs that have been together for the last 5 years. Sweet Pea gets along great with my male but my female has attacked her twice now, despite trying to keep them separated and doing slow integration. We no longer feel Sweet Pea is living the life she deserves as we keep her separate from the other two for her safety. Sweet Pea would love nothing more than loads of attention and treats. She is a good and very friendly dog. She does resource guard her favorite toys and food but we have seen no aggression from her otherwise.

Nori is a good girl. She is about 4 y/o and was adopted in Columbus OH. She is good with other large dogs (unsure about small dogs) and good with cats as long as they don't mind playing occasionally. She's great with kids. She's been in our home with an autistic little boy, who is very noisy and unpredictable, and she's been nothing but loving and patient with him. We have a toddler as well, who she's a little more unsure of but does well with him. I am desperate to find Nori a new home. She's a great dog but my husband has recently taken a job that requires him to be away from home 5-6 days a week. Without him home, and having a disabled child and toddler, I am overwhelmed and Nori is not getting the attention she needs and deserves. She would make an excellent addition to anyone's family.
