Story
Romeoville, IL- PENNY really needs a home of her own where she can get the love and attention she deserves. Penny was born in October 2021, weighs 55 lbs, and is a Catahoula/pit mix (DNA was done by previous owners). Penny was adopted from us spring of 2022 as a young, energetic puppy named Delta. Delta went to a home with 2 young kids (2 and 4 at the time) and a husband and wife. They rarely left her alone, as one parent was most always home. They report she was a wonderful dog, fantastic with the kids, smart, loving.... but unfortunately their oldest daughter could not learn how to be nice to Penny and they thought it was in Penny's best interest to return her Spring 2023. We always stand behind our dogs so we agreed to take her back, but with such a powerful, young, energetic dog- she has had to be kept separate from the others. She displays a lot of anxiousness around the other dogs and despite the previous owners saying they would take her to dog parks we believe she needs very slow and controlled meetings with new dogs. She had been taken to 2 rounds of obedience classes. We have found that she knows her basic commands and will do them when you have a treat, but without a treat she seems to get selective hearing . She has a tendency to pull on a leash, but has been doing well with a harness and slip leash as a combo, but she definitely will need to continue leash training. Penny is stressed out being separated. It was a huge transition from her going from always being with her people all day every day to being separated and not getting the undivided attention and only getting limited outings. We thought we had found another foster home for her, but there was an altercation between her and one of the resident dogs not more than 5 minutes after we left. We think things just went too fast for her and she really needed time to decompress. We think she has amazing potential with a family/person that can work with her on basic manners and someone who can give her outlets to burn off her puppy energy. An adopter that will take things slow when it comes to dog introductions and understands that it is a process and not a race. One bad intro can ruin a relationship. Penny has had exposure to a dog savvy cat and after the initial excitement she can walk by him on a leash without bothering him. We are not sure is she should be loose with a cat yet, but she shows potential for co-existing with a cat. Do you know someone that would be a great dog mom or dog dad to Penny? Please tag them in this post! Share!! Penny's adoption fee of $200 will be put towards a mutually agreed upon training class. For more info please contact us at info@perfectpooches.org Home visits, reference checks and meet and greet required. Her previous family had this to say about Penny: "Penny is a wonderful girl who loves to play tug of war/probably her favorite game of all. She loves to go on long runs and is pretty good with keeping pace with her human without pulling. She is really great with kids and has a watchful eye for them as well. She has loads of energy and would be best suited with a family that could provide a nice size backyard or frequent trips to the dog park. She's really good with getting to know and playing with other dogs. She has stopped growing for the most part and should maintain her current weight. If you give her a nice beef bone or new chew toy, she'll go off to her favorite spot and work on it for quite some time. She's getting better at walking on a leash but still needs a little guidance and patients with it. Penny is pure muscle and will need someone to help her complete her leash training. She is getting better on the leash as time goes on, but could still use some work in that department. She is generally really good about not chewing things up, including kid's toys. She knows the difference between her toys and kid's toys, stuffed animals included. She loves to cuddle and take naps. She really loves people and enjoys lots of interaction with them. She's a fast learner and really makes training easy, especially when there's high value treats involved. Penny loves to show off the skills she has learned. She really is an awesome family dog and would do anything to protect them and make them happy. She has grown up with two young kids that range from 2-4 years of age and is so good with them. There has never been any worry about her and her interactions with the kids. She loves to play with them as much as she can. She's so gentle with them and seems to understand the strength difference between her and the kids." If you are interested in adopting, please complete an adoption application, which can be found on our website at www.perfectpooches.org under the Adoption Process tab. All dogs are spayed/neutered, current on vaccines, heartworm tested (age appropriate), fecal tested and/or dewormed, and microchipped.

Story
Accepting Best Friend Applications Now! Hi Everyone! My name is Rosie! I am a 7 year old pitty mix. I joined A Tail of 4 Paws Animal Rescue in May 2024. My brother Rocky and I were rescued from a neglect situation with seven other dogs in Southern Illinois. I was honestly in really bad shape...I felt horrible and didn't look much better. I had very little fur, lumps, skin infection, skin allergies and trauma induced cauliflower ear. On top of all that, I have a spinal issue that has caused some weakening in my rear end. It makes me a little wobbly when walking and some fecal incontinence. After a few trips to the vet, I have received the best medical treatment from medicated baths, a dental, biopsy on my lumps(all benign) and medication to help me heal. Now that I am feeling better, my true colors are shining through. I love to be outside with the sun shining on me, going for short walks or strolls in the yard, to play tug of war, and chewing on my toys. I love my humans and at times get a bit jealous when other pups are getting attention because I believe I am the princess and deserve all eyes on me. I’m not sure how I feel about cats either. I would do best in a home where I can have undivided attention of my human(s). I would love to find someone that can be home with me all day and not have to go to one of those "job" things. I do have potty accidents so having someone home can help keep me on a potty schedule has helped with my accidents. I am up to date on my vaccines, spayed and microchipped. I love to go for short walks on a leash where I can explore the great outdoors. I’m also not a huge fan of a crate, but I love the open-air feeling of a pen – it’s my safe space. As you can tell I have been through a lot in my former life but I am excited for my future! I am looking for someone that will love me, spoil me, pamper me, keep me on a schedule and make sure I have the best life for the rest of my years. If I sound like your new best friend, I am accepting applications and will reach out after I review them. Please apply at www.atailof4paws.org. I look forward to finding me new best friend!!

Story
Hello Animal Lovers, I’m moving out of town and I have to find a new forever home for my baby. His name is Kay-Kay. He is a 2yr old Rescue Pit Bull Terrier with white and black spots. He is microchipped and unfortunately due to my busy work schedule as a therapist and I never got around to getting his updated shots. However, he has been receiving flea and tick treatments on a periodic basis. He needs lots of training. He is spoiled and loves attention. He is a sweetheart. He is an extremely picky eater and use to eating human food mixed with Pedigree dog food. He loves to munch on the bones. He is super active/energetic, friendly, protective, funny, loves to cuddle and receive belly and head rubs.

Story
Archie is such a special little guy in so many ways that we aren’t sure that writing this bio will do him justice, but we sure are going to try! Archie was found as a skinny stray at six weeks old. At animal control it was quickly discovered that he had a vision impairment, and was clumsy and wobbly on his feet. The Animal Control veterinarian wasn’t quite sure what condition he had specifically, but knew something neurological was going on. When our team met him, and saw how spirited, loving, and happy he was despite his challenges, she knew that WISH had to help him and get him into a foster home. We didn’t know what was going on with him exactly, but we were committed to finding out as much as we could with the help of our veterinary team. Archie has seen our regular veterinarian, as well as an eye specialist. Despite some subtle facial deformities (that somehow just add to his cuteness), and his vision impairment, Archie is a fairly normal developing puppy. It is suspected that he may have cerebellar hypoplasia (which causes him to have a wobbly gait), that has improved as he has grown and gained more muscle (as is typical with cerebellar hypoplasia). If he does have cerebellar hypoplasia, he is pretty steady compared to other dogs and cats with the condition! He can run, jump, and play! In fact, he loves to play so much with other dogs that we are hopeful to find him a home with another playful dog to wrestle around with and play. Although we learned that Archie is blind, you’ll swear that he can see! He is able to quickly map out his surroundings and navigates them well. And if he gets confused, he lets out these little whimpers and cries almost like he is calling mom for help. We happen to find it so darn adorable! Archie is also able to follow sound, which is helpful when he is playing in the yard or can’t see you, but knows you are there. For Archie’s safety we think a home with no stairs or minimal stairs, and a fenced yard would be best. Archie is an incredibly friendly pup who really thinks everyone and everything wants to be his friend. Strangers? Yup! Kids? No doubt! Dogs? You betcha! He’s just a happy, go lucky guy. Which is pretty amazing considering the adversity he has experienced. He romps around with favorite toys, and likes to play chase like any other puppy. He loves a good nap, and is a world class snuggler. He quickly forms attachments with things he uses regularly like his crate, dog bed, and preferred toys, and thrives on routine. This is a skill that can take some dog owners months to train a puppy. But not Archie! He is calm in his crate, and quietly sleeps through the night. He is happy to find his favorite dog bed and take a nap, and is even doing well with housebreaking. Archie comes to find us when he has to go potty, but like any other puppy his age, he will still need support in this area. Archie’s breeds are a mystery to us, but given the area he came from, and his personality, we think it is likely that he is a pitbull or pitbull mix. Regardless of that we do know that he is 100% cute. Our vet thinks he will grow to be about 60 lbs. Archie is a really special boy looking for that special person or special family to share his life with. Every person that meets Archie falls in love with him. He’s got something about him where you just can’t resist his charms. Archie needs a home where he can safely explore and be afforded the opportunity to be his absolutely lovable self. Special needs dogs make outstanding companions and Archie is ready for the challenge. The adoption fee for Archie is $200. This donation helps to cover veterinary expenses including spay/neuter, microchip and vaccinations. Wish Upon a Rescue is a 501(c)3 non-profit, foster based animal rescue. If you would like to meet Archie please complete our adoption questionnaire at www.wishuponarescue.org/adopt. We will review your responses and be in contact to schedule a meet and greet at a time and place convenient for your family and our team member.

Story
❤️ And then a hero comes along... ❤️ Marcel provided a life saving blood transfusion to another dog and was scheduled to be euthanized just days later when Wish was able to secure a foster family with literally no time left. His heroic journey isn't over yet because he's ready to be saved again by his forever family. Marcel -Named for French mime Marcel Morceau because they have matching "eyebrows" Age: 1-2 years Sex: Male Weight: approx 65 lbs of muscle Breed: Bully? That curled tailed tho PERSONALITY: I'm pretty spoiled by my foster parents because they think I earned the special treatment. I love being outside, and could benefit from a moderately active family that let's me burn off energy although that's not an absolute requirement. A fenced in yard with no holes or gaps is a must since I enjoy my time outdoors. I also love to snuggle taking naps on the couch... and I snore! I am eager to please and love learning. But don't worry... I can be a pretty chill dude when it's needed too and will be extremely loyal to my people when I find them. I excel at: 🚽 Potty Training - I've had one nervous accident in the entire time at my foster home. I always potty outside on a schedule. 🐾 Making friends with both dogs and tentatively cats... I have been living with two feline and one canine brothers. I am happy to have a playmate! 🧠 Learning new things - I already know Sit, Stay, and Paw/Shake. I'm very smart and *EXTREMELY* motivated by treats. I'm learning "crate" and those lessons are ongoing. 💤 Sleeping & cuddling... I'm crate trained and can sleep the whole night, relax during the work day, and take breaks/naps in my special space. I'm an excellent couch potato and cuddle bug as well. I especially enjoy watching TV. 🦛 Eating... I use a slow feeder bowl because I eat really fast. Ever seen hungry hungry hippos? Then you have the idea. 🧸 Toy destruction... I'm still a baby so I like to shred my toys, but they will be well used and loved before they go to the life beyond in the garbage. I especially like removing squeakers and chasing after balls. HEALTH & GROOMING: My coat is short and very soft, but my foster parents haven't noticed any major shedding. I am up to date on all my vaccinations, neutered, and microchipped. What will it take to make Marcel yours? • Love, Food & lots of toys • I want to be the best pupper I can be. I love to learn! • Patience & boundaries while I adjust and learn a new spaces and routines. This is required of every adopter, naturally. • Someone with no personal space issues - I'm really good at giving unsolicited kisses and licks. I prefer to see my people, know what's going on, and want to be in on the fun... even if the fun is relaxing on the sofa. The adoption fee for Marcel is $400. This donation helps to cover veterinary expenses including spay/neuter, microchip and vaccinations. Wish Upon a Rescue is a 501(c)3 non-profit, foster based animal rescue. If you would like to meet Marcel please complete our adoption questionnaire at www.wishuponarescue.org/adopt. Story
Meet Iyla, a two year old Pittie available for adoption. Iyla originally came to JTAC as a stray. Her original owner did end up contacting us stating she saw her on the stray page and had rehomed her to someone. She told us Iyla was a great dog and previously lived with young kids. Iyla originally was dog friendly but with the stress of the shelter environment, she is currently looking to be the only pet at home. No dogs or cats. She may be open to canine friends in the future once she has settled and decompressed in her new home. She loves toys and could not wait to show us all the toys. She shared them with us and would drop them gently when asked. She loves treat and also takes them gently from your hand but also loves to catch them midair! We love her goofy tongue and her big, ears that have a mind of their own. Her adoption fee is $235, which includes her vaccines, fecal exam, deworming, heartworm test, current flea/heartworm prevention, registered microchip, and spay.

Story
Introducing Calvin, a three year old Pittie that arrived to JTAC as as stray. Calvin was in pretty rough shape when he first arrived. He was thin, looked broken in spirit, and had a severe skin infection where he was swollen and painful. We started him on antibiotics and medicated bathes and he has enjoyed his extra TLC. Calvin is learning how to be a dog again and enjoy the best of life. He did well with other dogs and is curious on how to play. He can be quite wiggly and show off his goofy side when meeting others. He`s currently learning how to play with toys and gets overjoyed at the sight of them! He shares them perfectly and will hop around when he chases tennis balls. He`s quite a goof. Calvin is a great example of how dogs can have a rough past and just need a chance for a second life. His adoption fee is $235, which includes his vaccines, fecal exam, deworming, current heartworm/flea prevention, heartworm test, registered microchip, and neuter

Story
Hi, my name is Honey. I'm about 1.5 year old Bull Dog /Pit Bull mix. I am looking for my forever home or foster to adopt home. I am looking for my forever family. Let me share what my ideal home would look like: an active family that will continue my training and give me regular walks. My new family will give me expectations and structure. I would also love a fur companion that likes to play. You see, I don't have a long list, but these are things that will help with my happy energy. I am housebroken and crate trained. I love to cuddle and be with my people. I do walk nicely on a leash, but sometimes I do pull when I see rabbits, squirrels, or another doggie I would want to play with. I get along with other dogs. I would do better with children 10 or older as I get excited and don't want to knock down smaller children.. I am current on my vetting- spayed, rabies vaccine, distemper vaccine, bordatella, negative fecal, negative heartworm, negative Lyme, and Erlichia. If you are interested in meeting me please go to the website www.atailof4paws.org and fill out the application. Your one application away from meeting me.
