Story
Meatloaf is his name, being a big ol' tank of a dog is his game. This thick blue nose boy weighs 86 lbs and is a big sweetheart of a dog. He enjoys hanging out with his people more than anything in this world. Meatloaf knows some basic commands like sit, and paw. He does better in a harness than in a collar and would love to leave with his new Kong harness and a chain lead so he can be more easily walked (he is a lot of dog!). Meatloaf seems mostly dog selective here and we would need to have a meet and greet with others he would be living with prior to going home. We aren't sure about cats. He is very kennel stressed here and needs to leave ASAP for his physical and mental health, as he is very upset and confused being here (not aggressive!!!). His adoption fee is $150 and includes his neuter, microchip, vaccinations and negative heartworm test. Please call 630-553-9256 or email animalcontrol@Kendallcountyil.gov to start the adoption process.

Story
Happy Holidays from Roscoe, featuring his festive jammies. Roscoe is a 2 year old (turning 3, in February). Pit mix who was brought to us recently as an owner surrender. Reportedly, Roscoe has been sort of bounced around his whole life and really wants somewhere to land where he won't be given up again. This sweet guy is friendly, but unsure of things at times here. He is playful and allows us to dress him up without issues. He seems to like other dogs and has lots of playful energy with them when we have done his dog evaluations here. Roscoe was recently neutered, and treated for double ear infections so he should be feeling much better soon! He weighs approximately 50 lbs. Roscoe is housetrained and knows commands, like "sit", "come", "jump up" and "down". It is unknown how he would react with children, but he can be mouthy and playful and needs to learn manners when taking treats. His adoption fee is $150 and includes his neuter, microchip, vaccinations and negative heartworm test. If interested in giving him a great FOREVER home, please call 630-553-9256 or email animalcontrol@Kendallcountyil.gov, OR stop by during our open business hours to meet him.

Story
Clyde came in with his friend Bonnie.  These poor dogs were left in a public restroom tied up.  Clyde had chewed through his leash but didn't leave Bonnie.  That being said, now that they are safe and comfortable they really aren't that attached and would probably do better separated.  Clyde does best with dogs his size or bigger and needs a slow introduction, he would be great all by himself, soaking up all the people attention.  He loves to play, especially fetch and has tons of energy to burn off.  He still needs some work on his manners but is doing much better on his chewing and seems to be housebroken and is working on his basic commands.  He has not met a cat yet and is most likely too much for them.  He is fixed, up to date on vaccines, and microchipped. His adoption fee is $500 To adopt Clyde email us at kakf3133@gmail.comNovember 4, 2024, 2:12 pm

Story
Yeti is a young, male, pit mix.  He is gorgeous, and still very much a puppy.  He needs someone who has experience and is able to continue his training.  He has TONS of energy and love to play.  He loves toys and other dogs and would do best in a home with another dog to play with and a large fenced in yard to help burn off some energy.  He is learning how to walk on a leash and is very strong.  He does great with kids but should not be in a home with cats or small animals.  He is housebroken and crate trained (and should be crated when gone as he is still working on indoor manners) and he will help clear the table as well so he needs some more help learning how to live inside (he most likely spent the first year of his life outside in a kennel).  He is very sweet though and with the right person will learn to be a great dog.  He is fixed, up to date on vaccines, and microchipped. His adoption fee is $500 To adopt Yeti, email us at kakf3133@gmail.comDecember 1, 2024, 10:18 pm

Story
Hi there, my name is Vanessa and I'm about a year old. I'm a really pretty young girl. If you have seen my pictures my coat is a reversed brindle. I had DNA test, and it summed up I am a Pittie but mixture of many other dog breeds. What does that mean? I'm your All-American Mutt but I'm a smart All-American Mutt. But my foster Mom calls me silly and a beauty. It's hard to tell by my pictures but as I mentioned my coat is a reversed brindle. I look big in the pictures, but I am not. I only weigh 42#s. I'm done growing unless of course I get lots of treats which what dog doesn't like. I was found as a stray when I was a puppy. I didn't know where my home was, so the AC Handlers brought me to a TN shelter. I got my Freedom Ride from Treasured Animal Rescue. Boy! That was a long ride. So many doggies & cats drive for like forever up North. I saw my foster Mom when she opened the van, and I wasn't scared. I knew right then my future is going to be much better than what I had in TN. I'm in a foster home that has other foster dogs that are close to my age or size, and we play all day long. We sleep in our own crates and I'm a good girl and don't make a mess. I will give out a yip or a bark when I need to go potty. I love getting my food in my crate and I look for more when the other dogs are done. Who would have thought being a foster doggie I would be so pampered. When I'm inside hanging out in the dog room I've learned to nudge the bell. When you ask about me my foster Mom can tell you about that bell. There's a bell hanging by the sliding glass door, and I jump up to hit it or nudge it with my head. I'm signally to my foster Mom I got to go outside to do my business. There are also cats that live here. The resident cats are very dog savvy so they know how to respond to a dog like me who once in a while will bark at them. The foster kitties are learning from the resident cats that dogs bark and speaking of my bark - it's loud! I'm normally a quiet girl but when I have to tell you something, like go outside to do my business or I see the Mail Lady I will bark. I know SIT, WAIT, COME and give PAW. My best command is "Vanessa, be pretty". Gees, that's a no brainer. I need to work on no JUMP. That's a hard one. I like to spend my day hanging outside but if it's hot out I want to be indoors or under a tree with shade. I like to find one of many doggie bones and enjoy the fresh air with my bone. I don't mind if the other dogs take my bone away or sit next to me. I like to share. I will get zoomies. My foster Mom calls it my 2-minute Zoomie and then I am a couch potato. After my zoomie is done, I then chill out. I like to lounge around on the couch or by your feet. If I'm really, really lucky - on your lap. I like it on the days TAR goes to our adoption events, and we go to a pet store and there are kids there. Oh boy, do I like kids. I love it when the kids give me all the attention. Some kids, my foster Mom is really cautious and it's not because I'm mean but because I just want to give them so many kisses I might jump. I am a jumper. I know, it's a bad habit so maybe little kids I might need a caution but boy, you get me an older boy with a ball; we will be like peas & carrots! Hee hee! While I wait for my forever family to come meet me, I play with the other foster dogs. Some of these dogs got really lucky and they got adopted! I'm so happy for them but sad because I'm losing my friends to play with. So, you know what my foster Mom does for me? She takes me to doggie daycare once a week so I can play with other dogs. Oh my gosh! Can you believe they have a thing for dogs to play all day with so many dogs?!? I make new friends every week! I really like the employees at this doggie daycare and when they see me, they say "here comes silly Vanessa" and I get so many butt scratches! One day I am going to have a forever family of my own. While I wait for my family I will play, chew on a bone and go to doggie daycare and meet new friends. When I meet my forever family we can go for a walk, and I will show how well I listen and walk on a leash, but I can do better. I do pull. Maybe when you bring me to your house, I will have my own doggie bed, or I can curl up on your lap when you watch TV. I will always be your loyal pup because you chose me, and I promise to make you laugh. Can't wait to meet you! Vanessa Vanessa is located in our foster home in Aurora. Story
We rescued Petey in Sept. 2021 from a shelter located in Arkansas. Petey is approximately 5.5 years old. He is such a great boy who will make a family very happy. Petey is a lover and a cuddler. He will become your best friend and shadow. Petey currently does live with an older cat and they get along fine. We worked with a trainer in early 2022 who determined Petey is socially great with adults but not with kids. Petey tends to get very anxious and nervous when around children. We have also had an incident with Petey and a child which is the unfortunate reason we have come to this devastating decision to have to rehome Petey. We love Petey very much but with planning to have more children, it's too much of a risk to keep Petey. This is a very hard decision for us and we are determined to make sure we find the right home for Petey because he deserves it. Petey would be great in a home with just adults, no children. Petey is such a great boy who deserves a loving home.
