Story
Niko is a 1.5 year old Pit Bull Terrier mix with an energetic and loving personality. Weighing about 65 pounds, he’s a smart, eager-to-please pup looking for an experienced adopter to help him thrive. Niko has been a star when it comes to training - he knows several commands, including sit, down, and he knows to wait at doorways and for food. Niko listens well when given clear direction and is eager to continue learning in his forever home. While Niko is fine with cats when properly introduced, he would do well as the only dog in his household where he can be the center of attention. He enjoys playing with other dogs but benefits from one-on-one attention and consistent training that comes with being a single-dog companion. He would thrive in a home with a fenced yard, where he can safely burn off energy during playtime and zoomies. Niko’s playful spirit also means he loves belly rubs and games, making him a fun and affectionate addition to the right family. Given his energetic nature and occasional jumping, Niko would be best in a home with older children. He needs an adopter who can guide his excitement and reinforce his training to help him be his best self. Niko is a wonderful, loyal boy who is ready to bring joy and love to a home that understands his needs. If you're looking for an active, affectionate companion and are committed to continuing his training, Niko might just be the perfect match for you. Niko's adoption and McLean County Registration fees have been sponsored by one of his admirers.   He has been neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, heartworm checked, dewormed, and is on flea and heartworm preventatives. Story
Meet Mimi, a delightful 12-year-old Pit Bull Terrier weighing 63.8 pounds. This sweet and fun-loving lady is full of personality and loves nothing more than following you around. She knows how to sit, shake, and lay down, and she's always eager to impress. Mimi adores toys and bones, and she enjoys exploring the yard, sniffing around, and showing off her spunky energy. Despite her age, she’s still young at heart and would thrive with daily walks to keep her active. While she keeps her kennel clean, she does have the occasional pee accident, but she's working on it. Mimi should be the only dog in the home due to her protectiveness over her space and items. Although she got along with her foster’s dog initially, she's shown that sharing her space and resources can be stressful for her. Mimi hasn’t been around children, but with her gentle nature, she may do well with older, respectful kids. Mimi's adoption and McLean County Registration fees have been sponsored by one of her admirers.   She has been spayed, microchipped, vaccinated, heartworm checked, dewormed, and is on flea and heartworm preventatives. Story
Meet Charlie, a 2-year-old Pit Bull Terrier mix who tips the scales at a sturdy 60 pounds of pure love! This handsome boy is the total package—brains, charm, and a goofy streak that'll keep you smiling. Charlie is a quick learner and already knows how to sit, shake (with both paws!), and lay down. With his trainable nature, he’s ready to impress you with even more tricks. When he’s not showing off his smarts, Charlie is the ultimate couch companion, happy to lounge and soak up all the love you can give. He adores toys and bones but plays gently—no destruction here! Charlie thrives on attention and affection, and his playful personality really shines when he gets the zoomies. He’s a pro at the classic bow-and-run routine, and while a fenced yard isn’t a must, it would be his dream come true for endless frolics and fun. Charlie is reportedly good with other dogs, though he hasn’t had any pup playdates while in our care. Ready to make him your loyal sidekick? His adoption fee is $100, plus a $15 rabies registration fee for McLean County residents. Don't wait—Charlie is ready to fill your home with laughter, love, and a little bit of zoom! He has been neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, heartworm checked, dewormed, and is on flea and heartworm preventatives. Story
Miss Mabel is a sweet (and silly) older lady that doesn't let her past or her age dim her sparkle. Mabel was on the euthanasia list just a few weeks ago, but has been basking in the glory of a cozy foster home full of senior dog amenities. She is extremely dog friendly and has joined our long-term residents in the "pittie piles" you can see in the photos. She is cat friendly, but has shown a playful curiosity of them a few times - she redirects very well and has almost completely stopped noticing our cats. Mabel is a sun seeker and will move around the house to find the beam of sunlight and she loves to huffle around the yard sniffing every corner of our fenced yard. She is completely house trained and sleeps through the night with no issues. She loves toys, playing and cuddling with our dogs, doesn't mind getting dressed up, knows some basic commands, adored meeting some kids at a 4-H meeting, and has the best pittie wiggle. Her skin issues are improving rapidly and she is completely unbothered by baths, cleaning her ears, or lotion application. She really is a great girl looking for her forever comfy spot to cuddle up with a dog or human pal! All Pet Central animals are up to date on age-appropriate vaccinations, spayed or neutered, microchipped (registration included), and current on parasite prevention. Story
This sweet lady is Tombstone. She is a 2 year old boxer/pit mix. She got her interesting name because she was found running at large in a Peoria cemetery. She completed stray hold at Peoria County Animal Protective Services and no one came to reclaim this beauty. She will help you with yard work picking up all the sticks. She loves sticks, she will drop them nicely when asked. She as very sweet and loving both treat and attention motivated. She has a loud mouth but it is all for show. Give this (not so) little lady a bit of time to warm up and you`ll have a partner in crime.
