Story
To help us make a great fit for you, and any of our dogs as well, please include information about yourself(Home, family, yard/fence, work hours, other pets...) and/or use our application at sparrowdogs.com. COURTESY POST---This handsome boy is NOT with our rescue, he is with his family right now and we are helping them to find a wonderful home for Cooper. You can look at his pictures and see that Cooper is a very much loved family member. He has had a wonderful life with his people, and his other dog pal. And he really is an awesome guy, full of life and exuberance. But, that occasional over the top personality is a little too much for a family that just welcomed a newborn. So, no judgement there, they are just trying to make the best decisions for their baby as well as Cooper. Cooper is a 5 year old Pitbull mix. The family had initially adopted him a few years ago from a rescue, he had been left tied to a tree at some point in his life and was also heartworm positive. He has been treated for the heartworms and he is a healthy, robust and fully vetted boy. Cooper has lived with his other dog buddy and does well. Occasionally they play a little too rough(of course!) when they get a bit excited. He also lives with a cat that he wants to play with, however, the cat is not that interested in playing with Cooper, lol. Cooper's family says that he can be a little bit of an energy overload at times, he gets so exited meeting new people and dogs, gets excited about being outside and will jump on people and even has a big waggy tail that can hurt a little bit on the receiving end, lol. He is on some calming meds at this point, but perhaps could wean off of them in a small child free and also an active home to burn off some of that energy. Cooper's family has been working with a trainer and he is doing well. HE knows, sit, lay, shake and is doing well with place training on a mat, as well as a slip lead for a calming control device. When Cooper is not enjoying all the excitement of his life he is also a very laid back guy. If you are relaxing, well, he is right there with you. Cooper is a professional snuggler and loves to be by your side, keeping your feet warm in bed, or cozied up for some Netflix! Cooper will most likely do better in a rural situation where he does not have as many distractions such as other dogs, people cars and such to get him overly excited. Cooper is an extra special guy that deserves all the best. His family is hoping to find an active, loving home, older kids would be best. He lives with another male dog now, but really does well with older female dogs. If you have an awesome home for an awesome dog, please email Kristine at joysparrows@gmail.com.

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Clyde came in with his friend Bonnie.  These poor dogs were left in a public restroom tied up.  Clyde had chewed through his leash but didn't leave Bonnie.  That being said, now that they are safe and comfortable they really aren't that attached and would probably do better separated.  Clyde does best with dogs his size or bigger and needs a slow introduction, he would be great all by himself, soaking up all the people attention.  He loves to play, especially fetch and has tons of energy to burn off.  He still needs some work on his manners but is doing much better on his chewing and seems to be housebroken and is working on his basic commands.  He has not met a cat yet and is most likely too much for them.  He is fixed, up to date on vaccines, and microchipped. His adoption fee is $350 To adopt Clyde fill out an application at https://www.kakf.org/forms/Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.February 16, 2025, 7:26 pm

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Princess is another one of the "Ottawa Pitties".  She came to us when her owner passed away and she and 7 of her friends were left abandoned in the cold.  She was very traumatized and took a while to warm up to people again but now she wants all the attention.  She hates to disappoint her people and will do anything for attention.  She knows all her commands and sits and waits nicely for her food as well.  She would probably be fine with kids but she can be very jealous and would do best as an only pet.  She is fixed, up to date on vaccines, and microchipped. Her adoption fee is $350 To adopt Princess fill out an application at https://www.kakf.org/forms/Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.February 16, 2025, 7:26 pm

Story
Penelope is a great dog. She’s sweet, she is smart. My issues is she gets violent towards my other female, her mother. We have tried everything to reintroduce nothing has worked for well over a year. I cannot risk the safety of my child. Penelope needs single family willing to dedicate their time to her. She will attack cats, and so far female dogs. I have two males she gets along with fine.

Story
Red is a cuddle bug but he also needs to work. He loves sticks. He is aggressive towards his father. I currently have him and another female who do not get along with my other dogs. I can’t risk either of them harming my newborn child. I need help ensuring they go to great forever homes. I believe they need homes with single families no other animals. I love them and have raised them from pups but due to the aggression towards my other dogs we have had to alternate them out of cages. We have dealt with breakouts and fights. I cannot handle the potential fights anymore.

Story
Charlie Brown is our resident Peanut! He is a small handsome gentle boy. He loves everyone and everything. He even enjoyed being in a mile marathon on his first outing and had to say hi to all the other dogs and people. He is about 8mo old and is very smart. He loves his play group and makes friends super fast. He would make a great 2nd family dog. He listens well and doesn't want to upset anyone. He is ready for a home though! He has the cutest face!
