Story
Introducing Cera! Cera is a spunky, six month old Pittie that has a personality that catches your eye! She loves to play and has made lots of friends at JTAC: staff, volunteers, dogs, and even cats! She does great overall! She loves to play with other dogs and is all tail wags and play bows. She loves to play with toys and was over the moon when she saw our toy bin! She couldn`t decide which one to play with so she took out...all of them. That`s okay though, Cera. We`ll be sure to tell your new mom and dad to spoil you to pieces and get your own toy bin. Her adoption fee is $235, which includes her vaccines, fecal exam, deworming, current heartworm/flea prevention, heartworm test, registered microchip, and spay

Story
Meet Iyla, a two year old Pittie available for adoption. Iyla originally came to JTAC as a stray. Her original owner did end up contacting us stating she saw her on the stray page and had rehomed her to someone. She told us Iyla was a great dog and previously lived with other dogs and young kids. Iyla has met dogs here as well and did great. She loves toys and could not wait to show us all the toys. She shared them with us and would drop them gently when asked. She loves treat and also takes them gently from your hand but also loves to catch them midair! We love her goofy tongue and her big, ears that have a mind of their own. Her adoption fee is $235, which includes her vaccines, fecal exam, deworming, heartworm test, current flea/heartworm prevention, registered microchip, and spay!

Story
What’s better than Ezra? Nothing! Ezra is the bestest boy. His foster family has had a lot of dogs and this guy is as good as it gets. He’s the right amount of everything. He’s not a hyper, but will play. He also likes to snuggle too. His hobbies include walks and watching tv. You will have to turn on the captions for him because he’s deaf. The rest of his litter was adopted at the shelter but no one was interested in him. They didn’t want him to grow up in a kennel so they called us. We have a reputation for taking special needs animals. We were happy to scoop him up. He’s really enjoying the comforts of a home. Did we mention that he’s gorgeous? He’s almost pure white with beautiful blue eyes. Everyone that touches him says his fur is the softest they have ever felt. We are working on house training. His crate training is going really well. We are going up start training him hand signal’s. A few positives of owning a deaf dog, fireworks won’t bother him. You can call him anything you want. You can blast music and not worry that it’s going to bother the dog. Play an instrument, he’s cool with that. He won’t bark at every little sound outside. Deaf dogs make great companions and Ezra is ready to prove that. He’s great with dogs and adores kids. He saw a few cats and really wanted to play with them. We think he’s going to be a bigger guy. We don’t know his mix, we think some bully for sure the rest is a mystery. He’s fully vetted and ready for his furever home. 🐾 *Note: his weight is an estimation of his future weight, and not his current weight.* The adoption fee for Ezra is $450. This donation helps to cover veterinary expenses including spay/neuter, microchip and vaccinations. Wish Upon a Rescue is a 501(c)3 non-profit, foster based animal rescue. If you would like to meet Ezra please complete our adoption questionnaire at www.wishuponarescue.org/adopt. Story
Archie is such a special little guy in so many ways that we aren’t sure that writing this bio will do him justice, but we sure are going to try! Archie was found as a skinny stray at six weeks old. At animal control it was quickly discovered that he had a vision impairment, and was clumsy and wobbly on his feet. The Animal Control veterinarian wasn’t quite sure what condition he had specifically, but knew something neurological was going on. When our team met him, and saw how spirited, loving, and happy he was despite his challenges, she knew that WISH had to help him and get him into a foster home. We didn’t know what was going on with him exactly, but we were committed to finding out as much as we could with the help of our veterinary team. Archie has seen our regular veterinarian, as well as an eye specialist. Despite some subtle facial deformities (that somehow just add to his cuteness), and his vision impairment, Archie is a fairly normal developing puppy. It is suspected that he may have cerebellar hypoplasia (which causes him to have a wobbly gait), that has improved as he has grown and gained more muscle (as is typical with cerebellar hypoplasia). If he does have cerebellar hypoplasia, he is pretty steady compared to other dogs and cats with the condition! He can run, jump, and play! In fact, he loves to play so much with other dogs that we are hopeful to find him a home with another playful dog to wrestle around with and play. Although we learned that Archie is blind, you’ll swear that he can see! He is able to quickly map out his surroundings and navigates them well. And if he gets confused, he lets out these little whimpers and cries almost like he is calling mom for help. We happen to find it so darn adorable! Archie is also able to follow sound, which is helpful when he is playing in the yard or can’t see you, but knows you are there. For Archie’s safety we think a home with no stairs or minimal stairs, and a fenced yard would be best. Archie is an incredibly friendly pup who really thinks everyone and everything wants to be his friend. Strangers? Yup! Kids? No doubt! Dogs? You betcha! He’s just a happy, go lucky guy. Which is pretty amazing considering the adversity he has experienced. He romps around with favorite toys, and likes to play chase like any other puppy. He loves a good nap, and is a world class snuggler. He quickly forms attachments with things he uses regularly like his crate, dog bed, and preferred toys, and thrives on routine. This is a skill that can take some dog owners months to train a puppy. But not Archie! He is calm in his crate, and quietly sleeps through the night. He is happy to find his favorite dog bed and take a nap, and is even doing well with housebreaking. Archie comes to find us when he has to go potty, but like any other puppy his age, he will still need support in this area. Archie’s breeds are a mystery to us, but given the area he came from, and his personality, we think it is likely that he is a pitbull or pitbull mix. Regardless of that we do know that he is 100% cute. Our vet thinks he will grow to be about 60 lbs. Archie is a really special boy looking for that special person or special family to share his life with. Every person that meets Archie falls in love with him. He’s got something about him where you just can’t resist his charms. Archie needs a home where he can safely explore and be afforded the opportunity to be his absolutely lovable self. Special needs dogs make outstanding companions and Archie is ready for the challenge. The adoption fee for Archie is $200. This donation helps to cover veterinary expenses including spay/neuter, microchip and vaccinations. Wish Upon a Rescue is a 501(c)3 non-profit, foster based animal rescue. If you would like to meet Archie please complete our adoption questionnaire at www.wishuponarescue.org/adopt. We will review your responses and be in contact to schedule a meet and greet at a time and place convenient for your family and our team member.

Story
Romeoville, IL- PENNY really needs a home of her own where she can get the love and attention she deserves. Penny was born in October 2021, weighs 55 lbs, and is a Catahoula/pit mix (DNA was done by previous owners). Penny was adopted from us spring of 2022 as a young, energetic puppy named Delta. Delta went to a home with 2 young kids (2 and 4 at the time) and a husband and wife. They rarely left her alone, as one parent was most always home. They report she was a wonderful dog, fantastic with the kids, smart, loving.... but unfortunately their oldest daughter could not learn how to be nice to Penny and they thought it was in Penny's best interest to return her Spring 2023. We always stand behind our dogs so we agreed to take her back, but with such a powerful, young, energetic dog- she has had to be kept separate from the others. She displays a lot of anxiousness around the other dogs and despite the previous owners saying they would take her to dog parks we believe she needs very slow and controlled meetings with new dogs. She had been taken to 2 rounds of obedience classes. We have found that she knows her basic commands and will do them when you have a treat, but without a treat she seems to get selective hearing . She has a tendency to pull on a leash, but has been doing well with a harness and slip leash as a combo, but she definitely will need to continue leash training. Penny is stressed out being separated. It was a huge transition from her going from always being with her people all day every day to being separated and not getting the undivided attention and only getting limited outings. We thought we had found another foster home for her, but there was an altercation between her and one of the resident dogs not more than 5 minutes after we left. We think things just went too fast for her and she really needed time to decompress. We think she has amazing potential with a family/person that can work with her on basic manners and someone who can give her outlets to burn off her puppy energy. An adopter that will take things slow when it comes to dog introductions and understands that it is a process and not a race. One bad intro can ruin a relationship. Penny has had exposure to a dog savvy cat and after the initial excitement she can walk by him on a leash without bothering him. We are not sure is she should be loose with a cat yet, but she shows potential for co-existing with a cat. Do you know someone that would be a great dog mom or dog dad to Penny? Please tag them in this post! Share!! Penny's adoption fee of $200 will be put towards a mutually agreed upon training class. For more info please contact us at info@perfectpooches.org Home visits, reference checks and meet and greet required. Her previous family had this to say about Penny: "Penny is a wonderful girl who loves to play tug of war/probably her favorite game of all. She loves to go on long runs and is pretty good with keeping pace with her human without pulling. She is really great with kids and has a watchful eye for them as well. She has loads of energy and would be best suited with a family that could provide a nice size backyard or frequent trips to the dog park. She's really good with getting to know and playing with other dogs. She has stopped growing for the most part and should maintain her current weight. If you give her a nice beef bone or new chew toy, she'll go off to her favorite spot and work on it for quite some time. She's getting better at walking on a leash but still needs a little guidance and patients with it. Penny is pure muscle and will need someone to help her complete her leash training. She is getting better on the leash as time goes on, but could still use some work in that department. She is generally really good about not chewing things up, including kid's toys. She knows the difference between her toys and kid's toys, stuffed animals included. She loves to cuddle and take naps. She really loves people and enjoys lots of interaction with them. She's a fast learner and really makes training easy, especially when there's high value treats involved. Penny loves to show off the skills she has learned. She really is an awesome family dog and would do anything to protect them and make them happy. She has grown up with two young kids that range from 2-4 years of age and is so good with them. There has never been any worry about her and her interactions with the kids. She loves to play with them as much as she can. She's so gentle with them and seems to understand the strength difference between her and the kids." If you are interested in adopting, please complete an adoption application, which can be found on our website at www.perfectpooches.org under the Adoption Process tab. All dogs are spayed/neutered, current on vaccines, heartworm tested (age appropriate), fecal tested and/or dewormed, and microchipped.

Story
Rosie is a pup that came to us with brother Rocky back in May. They were rescued from a neglect case with a total if think of 7 dogs. Rosie was in the worst shape out of all of them. She could barely walk and was wobbly and falling over. She also had very little hair / fur and so many lumps/bumps all over and hanging. She came in with such bad skin allergies that were still working on but are much more controlled. She had a really bad ear infection Including some sort of trauma creating the cauliflower ear. So, when she first came in, we had to work on the skin and the ear first before we can do anything else. She was getting medicated baths twice a day. In August she was finally doing much better which allowed us to take her back into the vet for ger dental and then remove her lumps and bumps and have them biopsy. All the results came back good, But trying to allow the stitches to heal was our challenge. Due to all the scar tissue as well the location of one of the stitched area her stitches were not staying sealed. So that part of her healing is going to take a little bit of time. Now our focus is to work on her incontinence issue she has some of the time. I'm going to share some pictures of when she first came in as well as today and you will see what a difference. We're very. Thankful for the amazing foster, mom Nora for all that she has done for both Rocky and Rosie. Rosie is loving her daily walks around the block. Rosie has overcome so much and has come so far, such a survivor??

Story
Meet our sweet girl Sophia, she joined the rescue back in July with her pups Laya and Olive. She is believed to be between 2-3 years old Hound/Pit/Boxer mix, really, she is an All-American Rescue pup. Sophia is an amazing pup- housebroken, crate trained, walks nice on a leash, gets along with all dogs, loves all people and kids! She is almost completely vetted-Spayed, Rabies Vaccine, Distemper vaccine, Bordetella vaccine, fecal negative, and microchipped. Sophia is positive for heartworm and is currently going through the 1st phase HW treatment, she will soon (next 3 to 4 weeks) have to go in for the heartworm injections. From there she will have a short period of quiet time. She has stolen the hearts of everyone she has met, her ideal home would have a furry friend, kids, family, and fenced yard so she can run and play with her fur sibling.
