I am currently being foster-trained in Prarie du Sac, Wisconsin and not currently located at Safe Haven. I came to Safe Haven with my 4 puppies who have all been adopted. Now I'm looking for my furever home. I was very scared at first and would bark at men and people wearing hats, preferring the company of women and my puppies. But now I am feeling more comfortable in the shelter and since my puppies all found homes I can relax and be myself. I really love running and playing fetch. I am truly happy when I have one-on-one time with employees and volunteers at the shelter. Being at the shelter for so long I have gotten jealous of other dogs I see getting the attention I want; I will bark and jump up to try and get that attention. I tend to jump up with all my 59 pounds on people to show how much I love them; you could say I get carried away when I see people I know. So, I might be better in a home with older kids or just adults. I am very good at opening doors to cabins and finding ways to get out of fenced in areas, so I'll need a home that a secure fence and cabinets. I know how to sit and come when called, I respond best to positive reinforcement with a happy voice telling me Im a good girl, because I really don't know my name! Meet Raven! This pretty girl is a 3 year old Pitbull mix. She was adopted from here as a puppy but sadly, she was returned recently for not getting along with the cat in the home. Raven is the happiest girl! She is content and happy no matter what she is doing. Whether she is snuggled up in her bed with her favorite toy or playing in the play yard, she is always happy. She also loves to share her toys and will bring it to you. Raven is well mannered but needs to work on her jumping a little bit. She also keeps her kennel very clean. We are unsure how she is with other dogs but all dogs in the home will need to be present to meet her. She can’t be in a home with cats. Meet Bear! Bear came to us from the Red Door Pound with some PTSD issues. He had been shot in the hip and whether he was a stray or had an owner, no one got him medical treatment. It has heeled, but he tends to limp on the back leg where he was shot. You would never know it by how well he gets around. He runs like the wind. Since that happened to him however, it does make him timid around some people. He cowers in fear of thunder, fireworks, loud noises and loud vehicles. He has done really wonderfully with our trainer and has broadened his social network greatly. He needs a home with a lot of patience and understanding. Your reward is..the most loving, faithful, full of kisses handsome young man. Bear is going on 3 years and we do not know if he has ever known the comfort of a home. Boy would he love that! He has met older kids and they do not seem to intimidate him. Young children we would have to say no too. He does get along good with other dogs the majority of time and has been on pack walks and done great. He is a very good walker.
