Story
🐶 Cherrybelle 🐶 2-3 yrs old Pittie mix 55lbs Do over! You know when you find yourself in a messy situation and you just really need a reset button? That's where I am! I had a rough beginning without all the love I now know that I deserve. Can you relate? Now, with the help of an amazing rescue team and my foster family I've had some time to work on me and get the care and love I needed. I'm getting my Do Over! I had heartworm, got treatment, beat it! I had cherry-eye, got surgery, no more eye problems! I was very underweight, I've been eating well with extra treats! I now have a strong and healthy body with a beautiful coat. I didn't even know how to doggo! Now I know how to play with toys and run the yard with my doggo friends. I may have even rolled in the mud a couple times heh... not gonna lie, it was messy but fun! I am house broken and crate trained. I don't LOVE my crate but I do well with it. I eat in there so I don't have to worry about the other dogs trying to steal my food and I also stay in there when my people are gone and when it's bedtime. I have a lot of pup brothers and sisters here and sometimes I get territorial and pushy, I've improved my manners a lot since living here though. I love playing with my pup friends but I also love my people! Couch cuddles, playing and a good ear massage, ? it! It's going to be a good life now, I can feel it in my waggy tail! Do you think we could be besties? Come meet me and let's find out! 💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜 Our standard adoption fee is $375 cash or check and $385 credit card ($10 processing fee). . Story
Meet Guppy! Hello! They call my Guppy, or Gup-Gup - and I can answer to both. I am VERY smart. I am also very special. I am a blind, two year old mixed breed dog. I was picked up as a stray and found a very special foster family who has been teaching me about being a dog. It takes me awhile to get to know my surroundings and build trusting relationships, but once I do I am very loyal and playful. I love to sniff out my toys in the yard and leap around. Leash training is very helpful and important so that I know where it is safe for me to go. I do like to explore a bit too once I get comfortable. I love to be pet, and I give very big hugs and kisses. I do not know my own strength - at least that is what I hear. I do things with great confidence and need someone who will help keep me safe and guide me. I am crate trained and very quiet when in the crate. I love to be with you and I do not pick things up or chew without permission. I hear “not yours” and “that’s moms”, so I better stop. My foster family and their neighbors talk to me a lot so that I can get used to them and know where they are. As you can imagine, things can surprise me and I do not really like surprises. I also HATE water. I will drink my water and am getting used to my bowl being filled, but I do not like the washing machine, dishwasher, hoses - and forget about a bath. That didn’t go so well the first time. It may take a bit. Because I'm blind, I can get startled when life moves too fast. I would do best with older children that don't race around the house and understand that I can't see. I am very sweet and will be a great family dog. Our standard adoption fee is $375 cash or check and $385 credit card ($10 processing fee). . Story
Meet Fletcher! 🐾 Fletcher is a sweet and cuddly 1-year-old Pit mix (born 4/4/2023) weighing 64 pounds. He’s the perfect shadow companion, happily following you around or curling up for a cozy nap. Fully potty trained, Fletcher hasn’t had a single accident at his foster home and is also crate-trained—though he appreciates a little treat incentive to go in. Fletcher’s heart is as big as his paws! He’s amazing with people of all ages and sizes and is gentle and curious around other animals. While he hasn’t had many encounters with dogs or cats, slow introductions have brought out his good-boy behavior. He’s even lived with small critters in cages and leaves them completely undisturbed. When it’s playtime, Fletcher loves his toys (but fetch isn’t really his thing—“My name is Fletcher, not FETCHer!”). He adores running zoomies in his fenced yard but stays calm and collected inside. He’s a chewer, but with enough enrichment and toys, he sticks to his playthings. Fletcher has a scar on his back left leg that occasionally causes a slight limp, but a vet has confirmed there’s nothing to worry about. This resilient pup is also incredibly tolerant—his ears, paws, tail, teeth, and belly are all fair game for gentle handling. Remarkably, Fletcher has yet to bark at all in his foster home! He’s a little skittish with loud noises but seeks comfort from his people or retreats to his bed when startled. Ready to welcome Fletcher’s loving, playful, and gentle energy into your home? He’s eager to find his forever family! 💕 Our standard adoption fee is $375 cash or check and $385 credit card ($10 processing fee). . Story
Hi, I’m Tigger! I used to roam the streets of Texas without a home or anyone to love me. Life was scary, especially when I ended up in the shelter. But then, I made my way to Illinois, and my whole world changed. At first, I didn’t trust anyone—it was all so new and overwhelming. But with lots of patience and kindness from my foster family, I learned to trust again. Even the kids in the house have earned my love! Now, I’m the most loyal companion you could ever ask for, as long as you treat me with love, respect, and patience. I’m 50lbs- but still need to add a few pounds. I just finished my heartworm treatments so I'm a healthy boy finally. I'm playful and full of energy, but I also know how to chill. I’m happiest snuggled on the couch or curled up in bed with my humans. I get along great with my foster family’s big, laid-back dog, but I’d prefer not to share my space with dogs that might make me feel uneasy. Oh, and treats—peanut butter is my absolute favorite! I’m crate-trained at night, and I promise I’ll make your heart melt if you give me a chance. If you’re patient, loving, and looking for a loyal best friend, I just might be the dog for you! Our standard adoption fee is $375 cash or check and $385 credit card ($10 processing fee). . Story
Meet Hazel: A Delicate Little Flower Ready to Blossom in Her Forever Home Hazel is a sweet and gentle 3-year-old Terrier Pit Mix with a heart full of love. In October 2024, she gave birth to 9 beautiful puppies and made the journey from Texas to Illinois to ensure a bright future for them. While her pups are now in foster homes awaiting their forever families, it’s Hazel’s turn to find a family of her own. At about 33 lbs (and likely not much more than 40 lbs at her healthiest), Hazel’s petite frame makes her a perfect fit for families with smaller children. She is playful but tender, earning her nickname, "a delicate little flower." Hazel’s personality is blossoming as she transitions from devoted momma to playful pup, enjoying life as it should be. What Makes Hazel Special: Gentle and Sweet: Hazel is kind-hearted and careful, even when she’s feeling playful. She’s learning to enjoy toys, loves chasing tennis balls in the yard, and is discovering the joy of being a dog. Cat and Kid Approved: She’s gentle with children and has passed her cat test with flying colors—she’s a go! Smart and Eager to Learn: Hazel knows “sit” and is eager to learn more with treat motivation. Her leash manners are excellent, and she’s showing potential for even more training. House-Ready: Hazel does well outside of a crate when left alone, preferring to relax in the kitchen on her bed next to the air vent. She’s mostly accident-free with regular outdoor routines and sleeps soundly through the night in her own bed (or yours, if you’re open to a cuddle buddy!). Loving Companion: Hazel adores being by your side, whether it’s snuggling on the couch or following you around. Hazel came into rescue a bit underweight, but with love and care, she’s now thriving and showing her true self—a playful, affectionate pup who’s ready to be the center of someone’s world. If you’re looking for a gentle, loving companion to complete your family, Hazel might just be the one. Come meet this amazing little flower—you’ll fall in love! Story
Hi my name is Loki! I am a 1 year old big boy at 60 lbs. but don't let my size fool you because I'm the biggest cuddle bug! I was dumped at a police station! Thank goodness a nice police officer took me home and got me into a foster home because I hear animal control can be a scary place for a pup like me. I have been staying with my girls at Ruffner's until I find my forever home. I thought I found my forever home once but that only lasted 3 weeks. Even though the girls at Ruffner's told them I have a lot of separation anxiety from being dumped and moving homes, they still put me in a crate for 8+ hours a day. It made my separation anxiety even worse and they returned me. Before I was adopted I was also doing great playing in groups of dogs but after I was returned I was nervous with dogs. My girls at Ruffner's aren't really sure what happened during those 3 weeks I was gone but it definitely wasn't good. I would do best in a home were someone can be home with me until I feel safe enough to be left on my own. I'm very smart and food motivated and I love going on walks! I love to chew on bones and play fetch. I need a fenced yard or at least someone who is a runner and can make sure I get lots of exercise. I really don't like cats. With proper introduction I would be okay with other dogs around my size. I'm up to date on all my vaccinations, microchipped, neutered and heartworm negative. If you are interested in me, contact Hannah or Jenn at ruffners1880@gmail.com. The adoption fee is $225 Adoption fee includes: - microchip - spay/neuter - age appropriate vaccinations: Bordetella, DH(L)PP, rabies - heartworm preventive & flea/tick preventive - deworming

Story
Mama is my name but snuggling is my game. I'm not sure how I got into this situation, but I promise you that it wasn't because I didn't love my family. I am deceivingly very chill and friendly with people and other dogs. I cannot say the same for cats. I am housetrained when I am attended to be let out on time. Since I am an older gal, I don't have as much holding time as I once used to. As you can see, I have some lumps and bumps that come with the natural aging process and I have been cleared from having any cancerous lumps. I enjoy napping on the couch inside or out and I can even go for a short walk. I love treat time and I am very ladylike when I take my treats from your hand. My foster parents say that I am a super duper wonderful dog and I would make any new family feel the same. I am hoping to find a forever home that will love me for the rest of my days. I still have lots of spunk in this old body and I'm not done living just yet. Maybe we can help each other out, I can help keep you company and you can help keep me safe. I am ready to go and up to date on all my vaccines and have been spayed. Please say yes to this old gal. For more info and to meet this gorgeous gal, call Teri at 630-897-7454 The adoption fee is $150. Adoption fee includes: - microchip - spay/neuter - age appropriate vaccinations: Bordetella, DH(L)PP, rabies - heartworm preventive & flea/tick preventive - deworming
