Story
Hi there, my name is Vanessa and I'm about a year old. I'm a really pretty young girl. If you have seen my pictures my coat is a reversed brindle. I had DNA test, and it summed up I am a Pittie but mixture of many other dog breeds. What does that mean? I'm your All-American Mutt but I'm a smart All-American Mutt. But my foster Mom calls me silly and a beauty. It's hard to tell by my pictures but as I mentioned my coat is a reversed brindle. I look big in the pictures, but I am not. I only weigh 42#s. I'm done growing unless of course I get lots of treats which what dog doesn't like. I was found as a stray when I was a puppy. I didn't know where my home was, so the AC Handlers brought me to a TN shelter. I got my Freedom Ride from Treasured Animal Rescue. Boy! That was a long ride. So many doggies & cats drive for like forever up North. I saw my foster Mom when she opened the van, and I wasn't scared. I knew right then my future is going to be much better than what I had in TN. I'm in a foster home that has other foster dogs that are close to my age or size, and we play all day long. We sleep in our own crates and I'm a good girl and don't make a mess. I will give out a yip or a bark when I need to go potty. I love getting my food in my crate and I look for more when the other dogs are done. Who would have thought being a foster doggie I would be so pampered. When I'm inside hanging out in the dog room I've learned to nudge the bell. When you ask about me my foster Mom can tell you about that bell. There's a bell hanging by the sliding glass door, and I jump up to hit it or nudge it with my head. I'm signally to my foster Mom I got to go outside to do my business. There are also cats that live here. The resident cats are very dog savvy so they know how to respond to a dog like me who once in a while will bark at them. The foster kitties are learning from the resident cats that dogs bark and speaking of my bark - it's loud! I'm normally a quiet girl but when I have to tell you something, like go outside to do my business or I see the Mail Lady I will bark. I know SIT, WAIT, COME and give PAW. My best command is "Vanessa, be pretty". Gees, that's a no brainer. I need to work on no JUMP. That's a hard one. I like to spend my day hanging outside but if it's hot out I want to be indoors or under a tree with shade. I like to find one of many doggie bones and enjoy the fresh air with my bone. I don't mind if the other dogs take my bone away or sit next to me. I like to share. I will get zoomies. My foster Mom calls it my 2-minute Zoomie and then I am a couch potato. After my zoomie is done, I then chill out. I like to lounge around on the couch or by your feet. If I'm really, really lucky - on your lap. I like it on the days TAR goes to our adoption events, and we go to a pet store and there are kids there. Oh boy, do I like kids. I love it when the kids give me all the attention. Some kids, my foster Mom is really cautious and it's not because I'm mean but because I just want to give them so many kisses I might jump. I am a jumper. I know, it's a bad habit so maybe little kids I might need a caution but boy, you get me an older boy with a ball; we will be like peas & carrots! Hee hee! While I wait for my forever family to come meet me, I play with the other foster dogs. Some of these dogs got really lucky and they got adopted! I'm so happy for them but sad because I'm losing my friends to play with. So, you know what my foster Mom does for me? She takes me to doggie daycare once a week so I can play with other dogs. Oh my gosh! Can you believe they have a thing for dogs to play all day with so many dogs?!? I make new friends every week! I really like the employees at this doggie daycare and when they see me, they say "here comes silly Vanessa" and I get so many butt scratches! One day I am going to have a forever family of my own. While I wait for my family I will play, chew on a bone and go to doggie daycare and meet new friends. When I meet my forever family we can go for a walk, and I will show how well I listen and walk on a leash, but I can do better. I do pull. Maybe when you bring me to your house, I will have my own doggie bed, or I can curl up on your lap when you watch TV. I will always be your loyal pup because you chose me, and I promise to make you laugh. Can't wait to meet you! Vanessa Vanessa is located in our foster home in Aurora. Story
We rescued Petey in Sept. 2021 from a shelter located in Arkansas. Petey is approximately 5.5 years old. He is such a great boy who will make a family very happy. Petey is a lover and a cuddler. He will become your best friend and shadow. Petey currently does live with an older cat and they get along fine. We worked with a trainer in early 2022 who determined Petey is socially great with adults but not with kids. Petey tends to get very anxious and nervous when around children. We have also had an incident with Petey and a child which is the unfortunate reason we have come to this devastating decision to have to rehome Petey. We love Petey very much but with planning to have more children, it's too much of a risk to keep Petey. This is a very hard decision for us and we are determined to make sure we find the right home for Petey because he deserves it. Petey would be great in a home with just adults, no children. Petey is such a great boy who deserves a loving home.

Story
Hi my name is Frank! I am a 1 year old big boy at 60 lbs. but don't let my size fool you because I'm the biggest cuddle bug! I was dumped at a police station! Thank goodness a nice police officer took me home and got me into a foster home because I hear animal control can be a scary place for a pup like me. I have been staying with my girls at Ruffner's until I find my forever home. I thought I found my forever home once but that only lasted 3 weeks. Even though the girls at Ruffner's told them I have a lot of separation anxiety from being dumped and moving homes, they still put me in a crate for 8+ hours a day. It made my separation anxiety even worse and they returned me. Before I was adopted I was also doing great playing in groups of dogs but after I was returned I was nervous with dogs. My girls at Ruffner's aren't really sure what happened during those 3 weeks I was gone but it definitely wasn't good. I would do best in a home were someone can be home with me until I feel safe enough to be left on my own. I'm very smart and food motivated and I love going on walks! I love to chew on bones and play fetch. I need a fenced yard or at least someone who is a runner and can make sure I get lots of exercise. I really don't like cats. With proper introduction I would be okay with other dogs around my size. I'm up to date on all my vaccinations, microchipped, neutered and heartworm negative. If you are interested in me, contact Hannah or Jenn at ruffners1880@gmail.com. The adoption fee is $225 Adoption fee includes: - microchip - spay/neuter - age appropriate vaccinations: Bordetella, DH(L)PP, rabies - heartworm preventive & flea/tick preventive - deworming

Story
Willow is my name but snuggling is my game. I'm not sure how I got into this situation, but I promise you that it wasn't because I didn't love my family. I am deceivingly very chill and friendly with people and other dogs. I cannot say the same for cats. I am housetrained when I am attended to be let out on time. Since I am an older gal, I don't have as much holding time as I once used to. As you can see, I have some lumps and bumps that come with the natural aging process and I have been cleared from having any cancerous lumps. I enjoy napping on the couch inside or out and I can even go for a short walk. I love treat time and I am very ladylike when I take my treats from your hand. My foster parents say that I am a super duper wonderful dog and I would make any new family feel the same. I am hoping to find a forever home that will love me for the rest of my days. I still have lots of spunk in this old body and I'm not done living just yet. Maybe we can help each other out, I can help keep you company and you can help keep me safe. I am ready to go and up to date on all my vaccines and have been spayed. Please say yes to this old gal. For more info and to meet this gorgeous gal, call Teri at 630-897-7454 The adoption fee is $150. Story
This boy was surrendered due to the wife not wanting him around a newborn. Bob did nothing wrong and is a well behaved boy. He does need time to get used to new people but warms up pretty quickly. He gets along with other dogs and likes to play. He loves tennis balls and loves to chase them... he can fit 2 in his mouth at a time. He does well on a leash and is house broken. He does like children but will need time to adjust to their energy. He can get a little protective over what he considers "his" but is not a mean protector.... more bark than bite. Some added people socialization would probably help him. He is a good boy who was given a raw deal by his supposed family so he;s now looking for a new chance. He is located in Tennessee but can be transported through Rescue Riders.

Story
This poor girl was just abandoned and left at the fosters house. The owner said she would be back for her but never came back or heard from again. Sally loves people but as far as kids go, she is better with older kids than younger kids. She is still working on being housetrained but is doing really well with it. She is good with other dogs but would recommend that they feed separately as she is very protective of her food dish. She is up to date on all shots, fixed and ready for a nice forever home with someone to love her so she can return that love. She really just needs a forever home - are you the family for Sally? If you're willing to love and care for her she will do the same for you. She would be a great family member for the right person. She is being fostered in TN but the transport to your area is included in her fee. We use Rescue Riders Pet Transport, the most animal-friendly transport on the road.

I love to go for walks but need a little more practice not to get excited and pull too much. I love the outdoors and love to run and play with my toys. Story
This gal is such a sweetheart! If you are looking for a sweet, fun, happy dog, Ariel is your girl! Ariel is still young, we’re guessing just around 1, maybe just under. She is very smart and eager to please, and already showing off her skills with sit, and sitting and waiting for her food! She’s pretty food motivated, which makes her that much easier to train. She has the most adorable big ears that hear everything! She was brought to local animal control facility after being found tied to a pole in an alley, and was really stressed in the kennel environment. Find A Home Pet Rescue broke her out, and she is now settling nicely into a foster home while she waits for her forever people to find her. She loves to play, and really loves the company of other dogs. Ariel is fully vetted and ready to mingle! She’s been spayed, microchipped, tested for heart worm (negative), and updated on vaccines. Ariel is located in the Darien/Downers Grove area. If you’d like to give this beautiful girl her forever home please reach out to yurko.mar0903@gmail.com for a pre-adoption application.

Pretzel Needs a Foster/Adopter in Illinois Hey there, I’m Pretzel, and I’m hoping you’re the one who can change my life forever. I’m a 2-year-old Pit Bull Terrier, and I’ve been through some tough times, but my heart is still full of love, and I’m ready to share it with you! I was at a shelter in Georgia, and things were looking pretty scary for me. I was really sick with pneumonia, and my time was running out. But then something amazing happened – the kind people at Angel Dog Alliance swooped in and saved me! I got the care I needed, and I'm now ready for a foster or forever home. I'm now in Illinois with my friends from ADA! Here’s the thing: I’m looking for someone who will give me a chance to show them just how much love I’ve got to give. I’m friendly with other dogs and people, and I just love to play! I weigh about 45 lbs, so I’m the perfect size for snuggling up next to you. Why you’ll love me: I’m super sweet and full of love. I get along great with other dogs – I’d love to have a playmate! My favorite activities? Walks, cuddles, and giving you all the affection you could ever want. I’ve been through a lot, but I know my forever home is out there. Will you be the one to give me the safe, loving home I’ve always dreamed of? Whether you want to foster me for a little while or make me a permanent part of your family, I promise I’ll fill your life with joy and wagging tails. Please, take a chance on me. I’ve got so much love to give, and I can’t wait to meet you. Love,Pretzel (P.S. If you can’t foster or adopt me, please consider donating to help with my care. Every little bit helps!) ##2189410##

Bella is one of the sweetest dogs we have in our care because she is so domesticated and sweet. She's also absolutely beautiful! You will absolutely get a treasure and will totally fall in love with her! Hi there! My name is Bella, Will You Please, Please, Please Adopt Me? I Promise To Be Your Perfect Companion and Your BEST Friend! I’m approximately a 3-year-old pit bull terrier with a beautiful red and white coat, and I’ve been told I’m one of the sweetest dogs around. My past has been tough—I once had a family who adopted me through a rescue, but somehow, I ended up alone on the streets. I’ve never lost my friendly and loving nature. Despite the challenges, I’ve remained a gentle, domesticated, and obedient girl. I have so much love to give, and all I dream of is finding a forever home with people who will love me back. I long for a family who will shower me with cuddles, take me on long walks, and make me feel safe and secure. I’m really good on the leash too—I don’t even pull! I would prefer to be the only dog in the home, but get along with other dogs in public. I'm also best with kids over 12 years old. I've had basic training, so I’ll be all ready for my new home! I know I would make a wonderful companion. I’m sweet, loyal, and always ready for a snuggle. I promise to be your best friend and shower you with love every single day. All I need is a chance to show you what a great dog I can be. I go to adoption events every Saturday, hoping this will be the day I find my family, but so far, I've been overlooked. So, if you have a little extra room in your heart and your home, please consider fostering or adopting me. I know we could make so many happy memories together, and I would be forever grateful to have a family to call my own. I can't wait to meet you and start our new adventure together! With love and hope, Bella Bella's Training Journey: Bella has completed a basic training program! In this program, she has learned proper heeling on a leash, basic obedience, place command, off-leash recall, people and dog socialization, kennel/potty training, and more! Bella is being tested with other dogs, but for now is best to be the only dog in the home. She wants all the attention! ##2081395##

Story
Hello! My name is Meatball, and I am about 3 years old. When I was found as a stray nobody knew my name nor where I came from. I was definitely someone's dog but sadly, they didn't take good care of me nor come looking for me. Treasured Animal Rescue saw my adorable picture of my underbite and gave me that Freedom Ride. I was sad in the shelter but when my Rescuers came for me, and I got that Freedom Ride from the shelter I knew my future was going to be so much brighter! The day I met my foster family I felt so safe. They welcomed me into their home and let me settle in. Of course, my first course of action was finding my spot on the couch. I guess that's how I got the title "couch potato". But one day I was outside with my foster Daddy and he had a ball. This ball was round and plump just like me and I felt like I was in heaven. I had so much fun playing with my ball. You would think every dog has their happy moments with playing with something so simple like a ball but deep down in my past I don't think I ever got to play. Maybe I was used for making puppies and playtime was not heard of. Maybe the puppies I made for my old owners over & over again was all I knew so when I received affection from my foster family I soaked it up like a sponge. All that affection I got from my foster family I paid them back by making them laugh. When I am happy my back end does some wiggling. Well, my back end is not little so there's lots of wiggling! That made my foster family laugh. My name fits me because I'm shaped like a meatball; round and plump. When I get happy my little back end just wiggles & wiggles. I get happy when my foster family comes home from work/school and we get to play ball. I love playing with my ball and the bigger the ball the better. After our play time we snuggle on the couch. I might catch another doggie nap and you can guess it, I snore. I'm housetrained but I have a little tinkle here or there when I get excited. I like to go for walks but my breeding I have to go on short walks especially on hot days. I actually prefer to be on a couch inside with air conditioning. Who doesn't? I'm more of a couch potato watching TV. My foster family leaves a TV on for me when they go to work. Bluey is my favorite show. I like going for car rides and being with people. I haven't been around small kids or cats. I've seen other dogs and get excited. Now that I've settled in with my foster family, I learned Humans can be nice and loving. I think in my past home I didn't have that loving environment. I love hanging out on the couch with my Humans and sometimes don't like to share. I'm the only dog in my foster home and I love all the attention. My foster family thinks I would do best being the only dog in my new home or a good Doggie Leader that can help me not be selfish in the attention department if there is another dog in the home. I'm now ready for my forever family. I know there is going to be a day when I have to leave my foster family, and everyone will be sad but that's why foster family's do what they do. They make the commitment to doggies like me to trust Humans and establish a bond. If we could have a crystal ball for my future I would like to have a family just like my foster family. A couch I can hang out on. Maybe I can be the only dog, so all the attention is on me. I haven't been around small kids and let's just say no kids. I don't think the excitement is for me. The only excitement I like is when my foster Daddy watches football and he's rooting for the Chicago Bears. I like to have a quiet, calm home so I can get used to my new home. And if things get too stressful for me maybe I have a special place I can go chill. In my foster home my family set up a doggie crate. At first, I wasn't too sure of it but I have a doggie bed that I get really comfy and start sleeping right away! You can probably hear my snoring already. They say rescue dogs are broken. We are not. Sadly, a Human does things to us or neglects us, but dogs live in the moment. My life took a big change when I saw my Rescuer looking through the shelter bars and said "she will be our Treasured Gem". They looked into my eyes and felt my soul. They guessed at my appearance of how I was treated and made a promise to make it better. My Rescuers and foster family kept that promise and its now time for my forever family to continue. It might not be easy for me adjusting in your home, but I promise you this: I will make you laugh with my snorting, snores and cute underbite. I hope when you come meet me, I can make you laugh and then of course you are going to fall in love with me. It all starts with you filling out an adoption application so we can start our friendship. Love, Meatball Meatballis located in our foster home in Romeoville. Story
This handsome guy is Grover. He is a 2 year old boxer mix. He is a big boy weighing in at 70 pounds. This guy has had a bit of a rough start. He came into Rover Rescue with an injury to his knee. While waiting for surgery he injured his other knee. He has a long road to recovery, but will eventually be able to lead a normal life. He recently had a TPLO to fix one of his knees. He has been doing great with recovery. He does have exercises that need to be done to help strengthen his knee. He will need the same surgery on his other knee, which Rover Rescue will pay for as long as our vet is used. Grover also has some behavioral issues we have been working through. He has had some resource guarding over rawhides. We have worked with him and he is doing well, but he will need an adult only home. He also needs a dog savvy home because he can be very strong willed. He needs rules and structure in his life. We do have a trainer willing to help work with him once he is adopted. He has come a long way during his time with Rover Rescue. He will make a great companion with some work. Grover is crate trained and goes in willingly when his family goes to work and at bed time. He does get sad when his family leaves though and can get vocal sometimes. Due to this he would probably not do well with apartment life. Grover can be dog selective. He is living with two 25 pound dogs and does well with them, but probably should not be with anything smaller as he does not realize his size. He will need slow introductions and would do best with a submissive female dog. He would do great as an only dog as well. He should not go to a home with cats or other small animals. Grover loves car rides and going on walks. Once healed from his surgeries he will make a great adventure buddy. He can get strong on leash, but does really well with his gentle leader. We have been doing a lot of walks in the neighborhood to help strengthen his knee. Grover loves to play with toys. He will bring them to you to throw and loves tug. We haven’t been able to play rough, but he still loves having the toys around. Once he has gotten his energy out he is a snuggle bug. He loves to be on the couch by his people, but is currently having to stay on the floor until he is fully healed from both surgeries. He does like his comfy dog beds. Sometimes he will come and lay by my feet too. He has a goofy side that tends to come out too the more comfortable he gets. Grover is going to need some work, but he is worth it. He will make a great family member for the right family. If you would like to meet him, please call Annie at 815-685-0746. His adoption fee is $225. Adoption fee includes: - microchip - spay/neuter - age appropriate vaccinations: Bordetella, DH(L)PP, rabies - heartworm preventive & flea/tick preventive

Story
Abel is a tall 2 year boxer mix, with long soft ears. He is good with other dogs and people. He enjoys playing with his foster sister, Daisy, especially after his morning walk and breakfast. He loves to cuddle on the couch with us, lays his head in our lap, and has us pet him all over. Although he is crate trained, it’s not his favorite place to be. We need to encourage (but NOT drag) him to go into his crate each night. Although Abel has had a few urinary accidents in our home, we feel it’s due to us adjusting to his needs. When we take him for walks, he has inconsistent leash manners. He is altered and up to date on shots. If you would like to meet Abel, please call Teri at 630-897-7454. The adoption fee is $225. Adoption fee includes: - microchip - spay/neuter - age appropriate vaccinations: Bordetella, DH(L)PP, rabies - heartworm preventive & flea/tick preventive
