Story
Hello! My name is Talladega and I am an incredibly sweet, friendly and gentle pittie mix who has so much love to give. I am a low-medium energy boy who enjoys going on walks, playing with toys and getting my belly rubbed. I recently had the chance to take a shelter vacation and learned all about living in an apartment. I mastered riding the elevator quickly and interacted with new people in the hallways with a wagging tail. I passed by other dogs on walks without any issues as well. My friends at the shelter say I do well with big and small dogs. I also slept all night in my crate without accidents or protest and didn’t chew on things I wasn’t supposed to. I am told I have the cutest ears and forehead wrinkles too. I have currently lived at the shelter for more than 200+ days and I am ready to move into my forever home and keep learning more about how to live my best doggie life. Could it be with you?!

Story
🎶 Oh Mandy, baby, can’t you see? 🎶. Our girl Mandy has a little something for everyone! From spots to stripes, Mandy brings all the fun to wherever she is. She LOVES other canine friends and would really enjoy one in her forever home. She’s approx 1.5 years old and boasts house training and reluctant crate training (she tolerates the crate but doesn’t love it) on her resume. Mandy is looking for an active family with a fenced in yard. She’s been great with kiddos, however she is sometimes unaware of her size, so dog savvy kiddos are a plus! While her breed is a mystery, we think a Catahoula and a Pittie are likely in there, but who can be sure? Mandy would make an excellent running partner should you be an athletic type. Mandy is being fostered in Greeley, Colorado. *We require all adopters to come to Colorado to adopt. *We do not transport dogs. * You can view this wonderful dog at https://www.milehighcanine.org/post/dogs/mandy/. Story
"Ok y’all. We know the pitbull types can be harder to find adopters for due to the stereotypes. Black Dog Syndrome in the rescue world just makes that even harder for dogs like Haven, but this sweet, stunning girl deserves a forever family instead of being euthanized! Haven came into a high kill shelter in Houston after being found as a stray/dumped at a Chevron gas station. Her future was bleak. Luckily, she’s easy on the eyes and one of our pittie loving foster homes quickly stepped up for her. Haven is a healthy girl who is around 2 years old and about 55 pounds. She is adapting wonderfully to the routine of a foster home and is great with kids. She is food motivated, smart, attentive, and very eager to please. She walks well on a leash and has a mild-moderate energy level. Haven can be a bit picky/selective about her dog friends in play groups, does best with slow careful introductions, and seems to do better with male dogs. She would also be completely in love with the idea of being someone’s only dog/princess. Please give Haven a chance. She’s ready to snuggle you and be your best friend!" Haven is being fostered in Fort Collins, Colorado. *We require all adopters to come to Colorado to adopt. *We do not transport dogs. * You can view this wonderful dog at https://www.milehighcanine.org/post/dogs/haven/. Story
"Chunk is here to remind us all how important it is to not judge a book by its cover. This boy was picked up as a stray and almost euthanized for space at a high kill shelter in Houston. Luckily, a foster family was willing to look past his ‘cover’ and Black Dog Syndrome, and they noticed him in the nick of time. Chunk is a compact bully/bulldog mix at about 45 pounds and is about 3-4 years old. Chunk is missing most of his right ear and has several scars, mostly on top of his head. They do not match typical dog inflicted scars, and Chunk has been very friendly with various dogs in Texas and in foster care (especially the female variety…he’s a ladies man 😂). Sadly, though we will never know for sure, we believe his scars are the result of either human cruelty or an unusual accident. Luckily, Chunk is a healthy boy that hears well and is not in pain. He’s unaware of any differences he has on the surface, is happy to be alive, and has been friendly to every human he has come across in rescue. He is a little bit too fixated in wanting to chase kitties, and so we think a feline free home would be best. He seems crate trained and housetrained, and adjusts quickly to the routine of a family. Chunk is the life of the party, the klutz, the bull in the China shop, the clunker, and the class clown. He’s ready to make you laugh and provide endless entertainment. He’s not the brightest bulb in the box but always gets an A+ for effort. He wants to be your shadow, your ‘lap dog’, and love you unconditionally. Please give this boy a chance at his forever. He’s ready to raise awareness, bring some smiles and love to those he meets, and find his place in the world." Chunk is being fostered in Fort Collins, Colorado. *We require all adopters to come to Colorado to adopt. *We do not transport dogs. * You can view this wonderful dog at https://www.milehighcanine.org/post/dogs/chunk/.
