Story
Four-year-old Torchy has touched his fosters’ hearts with his sweet and silly ways. Once the 45-pound white beauty felt comfortable in their company, he opened his own heart, and now he LOVES licking them, cuddling and snuggling, and playing with them. He also loves engaging, often too exuberantly, with other dogs. Torchy LOVES going for walks - they're the absolute highlight of his day! He enjoys chewing on Nylabones and playing with soft, plushy toys, but what he loves most is his wobble Kong, giddily getting into boxing matches with it! Known to prance around the house and strut when he walks, he’s equally famous for lying on his back with his legs in the air, as an open invitation for belly rubs, paw-lease. Motivated by love, toys and food (he’s passionate about people food), highly intelligent and easy to teach, he knows “come”, “sit”, “down”, “stay”, “off”, “no”, “touch” and “leave it”, accepts his favorite Charlie Bear biscuit treats gently and loves relaxing inside his crate with the door open. He's leash- and house-trained. Torchy has graduated from a 4-week board and training obedience program through American Canine Academy. They offer free lifetime training support to adopters. For Torchy to thrive, he requires a strong but loving “pack leader” to continue his training, and keep him mentally and physically satisfied fur-ever.   Torchy is a courtesy posting and not an Animal Rescue of the Rockies dog. But his foster asks that all interested individuals fill out our adoption application.November 6, 2024, 12:43 pm

Story
Freckles is a 2-3 yr old female Pitty mix. She is just a big squishy love bug! She loves people and gets along with other dogs. She gives the best kisses!!  I wouldn't recommend her with cats, though. She would do well as an only dog, but would also be ok with other dogs her size or larger.  She weighs about 35 lbs. She is spayed, UTD on shots, fully vetted and HW negative, and weighs about 40 lbs. Please email scottnbecky0503@yahoo.com with "Freckles" in the heading if you are interested.  This dog is a courtesy listing and not one of our dogs. Please contact the email listed in this post. Story
Sweet Diamond is a little staffy momma ready to be polished up and treated like treasure. Diamond prefers hanging out at home listening to The Tortured Poets Department on repeat. Diamond is 3 years old, has already had some kids, and is over it. She is not the dog to hang out on a brewery patio or go on doggy play dates. She is a quiet girl searching for a place of her own with a yard. Diamond does not want to live in an apartment where people or dogs can surprise her on her way out the door. Diamond came to My Fairy Dawg Mother along with Spot, the white pup in these photos. She’s ok with him, but this girl would be happiest to hang out at home alone with you. She wants to show off her skills at walking on a leash (amazing!) and sitting (prompt!) and even standing up (see the photo!). Diamond is an American Staffordshire Terrier, about 42 pounds. She’s fully grown. She is, sadly, not allowed to be adopted in Aurora, due to the BSL that was put in place this year. Staffy and other bully type terriers are extremely loving and sweet, but require extra knowledge. As her person, you will often have to advocate for her safety. If you are interested in adopting Diamond, we will support you, happily, in understanding how to have a bully-type dog in your life, particularly one who had a rough start. Her former owner used a very heavy hand with her, so she can be reactive and cautious. But if you are gentle with her, and provide her a secure and safe environment, we know she will sparkle! Ready to meet this absolutely beautiful little gem of a dog? Please fill out an adoption application at MFDM.org

Story
We know, we know! It’s a pretty standard name, but this Spot is no standard dog! Spot is a white and gold American Pit Bull Terrier mix, and probably one of the most beautiful examples of the breed we have seen in years! Look at his muscles! Look at his eyes! He LOVES people and wants LOVE. Our photographer took these photos in the rain on a Friday. On Sunday, she saw Spot at an event, and he greeted her with a face full of kisses. That tells you what kind of love bug he is! Spot is available for adoption in the Metro Denver area from My Fairy Dawg Mother. Spot is interested in other dogs. With a proper introduction, we think he will be a great buddy to another dog of roughly the same size and energy level (ie, HIGH energy). Spot is a little anxious. Life started a little heavy on the chaos, so he’d prefer fewer dogs in the house. A couple notes: Spot cannot live in Aurora due to Breed Specific Legislation creating an unsafe environment for this breed. (Don’t get us started. Or do. We have opinions!) He would love it if his future family is aware of the challenges that come with being a pibble-type dog. This means devoting time and energy to his training, and encouraging him to become confident in his ability to solve problems. The Fairy Dawg Mother team is a huge fan of this breed, and can share resources (training recommendations and suggested approaches) to help you be the best advocate for this handsome boy. Interested in meeting Spot? Please fill out an adoption application at MFDM.org

Story
I'm a sweet boy. I was pretty skinny when I first came to Polk County Humane Society, but I'm catching up now. I'm still getting my bearings. I'm not sure about all of these other dogs around here. I'd like to be in a home of my very own! If you're interested in adopting me, fill out an adoption application online at www.polkcountyhumanesociety.org/adopt where you will also find a link to reserve me for an appointment. Some pets are in foster homes or may already have an appointment scheduled, so the appointment is important to make sure I will be available to meet you when you come. Polk County Humane Society is located in Bolivar, Missouri, but also makes transports to the Denver, CO, Des Moines, IA and St. Louis areas twice monthly. For potential adopters in those areas, we can do a virtual visit using FaceTime or another app. Just request an appointment using the same link, but note that you want the visit to be virtual. We will call you at the time of the visit once it is confirmed. For long distance transports to Colorado and Iowa, there is an additional $100 fee to cover the cost of the transport ($65) and a health certificate from a veterinarian ($35). For transports to St. Louis, the additional fee is $50 to help cover gas. Going that last mile home for our sweet pets! All of our pets are neutered or spayed, have vaccinations appropriate for their age, treated with flea/tick/heartworm prevention, dewormed and dogs are also microchipped. #adoptdontshop ##2196587##

Story
Do you want a dog that is 60% couch potato and 40% goofball? That's me! I am a beautiful, AKC registered Bull Terrier that loves relaxing, playing soccer by myself or with a human, only bark when I hear something suspicious, and love to play with cats. I don't like other dogs, and under no circumstances should I be around them...I'm top dog and want to be your only love. While I'm not good with small children (I don't like my tail, paws, nor ears touched) I love older kids that can understand my quirks. I like walks and don't pull, bark, or lung, as I just want to enjoy the scenery with you. My favorite things are my bed, balls, food, and car rides! I need a home that won't yell at me, as I am a sensitive fella and that will make me anxious and defensive. I do fantastic with positive training and am goofball that spins around and hops when you playfully spank my strong back legs. I "grumble" like a bear a lot to tell you how happy I am or that I need something, and I'm super strong, so no soft toys. As a Bull Terrier, I have seasonal allergies and yeast, but a little benadryl is what the vet says I need. Do not try to clean my ears, it makes me extremely nervous and defensive, but sending me to the groomers is okay as long as they know that. If you have a calm, gentle, positive household with experienced dog owners, I just may be your new love! Please contact Jordan at jordanfuent@gmail.com or 505-690-3371.   This dog is a courtesy listing and not one of our dogs. Please contact the email listed in this post. November 6, 2024, 12:43 pm
