To apply or see more of Indy, go to: https://www.heartsforpawsrescue.com/219873/2023/12/3/indy Hello there! I'm Indy. I'm a true Christmas miracle! My HFP story begins with a close call – I was set to be euthanized at a county shelter in Sacramento. It wasn't my fault, just a lack of space. But guess what? Fate had other plans for me, and I spent the holidays in a cozy foster home, waiting for my forever family to come and scoop me up! I’m friendly when meeting people and I had been rocking it in the shelter yard with other dogs! My fosters say I'm super sweet and lovable, despite being a bit older. But hey, age is just a number, right? I love laying by your side while you work, and I'm always up for a game of play. Walks? Oh, they're my absolute favorite! I'm a well-mannered pup, potty trained and great in my kennel when my foster leaves the house. A real winner, or so they say! Now, I used to have some bumps on my abdomen but they were nothing serious. They sound scary because their called a ridiculous name: hemangiomas. Weird, I know. But they are no biggy. Look em’ up. They are non-cancerous growths and they have successfully been removed at UC Davis! I take it all in stride. I've still got pep in my step and a heart full of love. More info about my health journey is coming soon, but for now, I'm just grateful for my change of fate. If you're looking for a sweet, seasoned companion who's ready to bring joy into your life, that's me! To apply or learn more about Buddy, go to: https://www.heartsforpawsrescue.com/219873/buddy-fozzy Buddy (Formerly known as Fozzy) was adopted through HFP 3 years ago, but now in need of a new home. He is an easy going guy who would do wonderful in a quiet suburban neighborhood. He loves naps and spends much of the day sleeping on the couch. While Buddy did well meeting dogs 3 years ago while in our program, he has been reactive towards dogs since being adopted and should be an only dog in the home. He is very happy without dogs and will live a very happy life with humans but does not need to interact with dogs. Buddy is very sweet to all people. He would do well in a home with kids 10+ . Housetrained, no separation anxiety, moderate energy and well behaved! Adoption Donation Sponsored by HFP. You might be wondering what “sponsored” means. A dog is sponsored when their foster or a donor loves them so much that they cover the adoption donation for a future adopter. This in hopes that the pup finds his or her forever family ASAP!

Story
To apply or learn more, go to: https://www.heartsforpawsrescue.com/219873/2024/6/10/nellie Meet Nellie! Nellie is a darling old lady (about 8 years old) who enjoys sunbathing and (short) walks in the grass. She was recently pulled from Avenal Shelter and saved from euthanasia at the last minute thanks to a foster! Months and months of enduring the shelter life only to be put to sleep there — no dog deserves this. While she has tested well with dogs and people at the shelter, she has been at the shelter so long that she deserves time to decompress! The decompression period varies for each dog but one should expect at least about 3 weeks to allow a dog time to start feeling comfortable. At this time, we are recommending that Nellie go to a dog free home. More info to come! Adoption Donation includes: Spay, Rabies, DHPP, Bordatella, and microchip. Interested in adopting? 1. Please complete our online form at heartsforpawsrescue.com/adoption-application 2. We will respond in 1-3 days for a call! 3. To apply or learn more, go to: https://www.heartsforpawsrescue.com/219873/2024/9/11/blossom Meet Blossum! 8 month spayed 40 lb pit mix — good with dogs, cats and may do well with respectful kids 8+. More info to come! $250 adoption donation includes spayed, rabies, dhpp, bordatella, flea tick treated, fecal tested/dewormed, and microchipped Ideal home will: Have the time to commit to all things puppy! Please note puppies do not do well left alone long hours and need to be let out every 2-3 hours for potty. Long work schedule where the puppy would be left alone for 7+ hours can be difficult on most puppies and young dogs. Solid plans for puppy socialization, positive exposure and continued training + relationship building -- commitment not just to puppyhood but to a lifetime of love, care, companionship and vetting. HFP advocates for Positive Reinforcement only for young puppies and training that focuses less on "obedience" and more on confidence building, relationship building and consent training. Preference to homes w/ friendly & well-trained dog role models (preference, NOT required) Preference to homes w/ yards (preferred, NOT required) Why? Puppies cannot go in public until they are 4 month old and complete their puppy shot series. Having a yard during this time greatly helps with play, potty training, and providing an outlet for your puppy to get outside. There are ways to work around this if you do live in an apartment setting but it takes some extra work and planning! Interested in adopting? 1. Story
**Bowie is a courtesy post and is NOT a Yolo SPCA dog. All adoption interest will be forwarded to his owners for review.**   With his big smile and sweet personality, Bowie is a total catch! Bowie is a stunning 2/3-year-old guy who is looking for his fur-ever home. He was adopted from a local shelter, but unfortunately, isn't a good match for his current family. Rather than returning him to the shelter, his family is wanting to rehome him as a private party. He is fully grown and weighs about 45lbs. Bowie is a cuddle bug and athlete wrapped up in an adorable brindle package. He loves to play, especially fetch, and is looking for an active home to keep his busy body happy. After a day of fun, he loves nothing more than cuddling up on the couch for snuggles and kisses. His favorite pastimes also include sunbathing and shredding his toys. Bowie loves other dogs and would thrive with another active dog in the home to wrestle with. He also could be a great companion for someone who has lots of friends with dogs for him to play with. The main reason Bowie is being rehomed is he is too rambunctious for the family's other small older dog. Bowie has done well living with dog-savvy cats with a slow introduction and proper supervision. Bowie has done well meeting kids and could do well living with kids older than 10 years old. Bowie has been doing well learning all his basic manners but is still a young guy who would benefit from continued training. He is very food-motivated which helps with his training. He is house and crate-trained. Bowie is a total lovebug, but is fearful of men and takes some time to warm up to men. He will bark and growl, but with patience, he can warm up and feel comfortable. He needs a family dedicated to making sure they do slow introductions with men and help Bowie succeed. He would highly benefit from professional training with a positive reinforcement trainer who specializes in fearful dogs. Bowie is neutered, microchipped, and up-to-date with his vaccines. He is heartworm-negative, has been kept up-to-date with his monthly preventive, and will come with preventive doses to last until the end of the year.   Bowie's rehoming fee is $50. He will come with his crate, toys, food, and the rest of his supplies.   **Bowie is a courtesy post and is NOT a Yolo SPCA dog. All adoption interest will be forwarded to his owners for review.**  November 5, 2024, 1:55 pm

Story
Sirius is a 9 year old boxer-staffordshire mix whose heart is as big as he is! He is calm, loves to cuddle, and loves to play with his humans of all ages. He is a gentle giant but also a great family protector. After my ex's passing, his mother reached out to me and I ended up taking Sirius in a little over a year ago. At the time, I only had one infant but now have a toddler with another baby on the way. We are also moving to a home with a yard not sized for a family pet and it's not fair to him to not get the space/attention he deserves. It breaks my heart to let him go but this is my last resort trying to place him in a loving home he deserves.
