Story
Meet Calvin!-1 year, 2 month old neutered male Pitbull mix (Pitbull mix is just a guess!)-Weighs 51#-No history from his previous home as he came in as a stray-House trained -Has befriended dogs at the Shelter including Maggie!-Not recommended to live in a home with catsCalvin went to a short term foster home to give him a break from the Shelter and help to gather info about him in a home. We found out he enjoys sleeping underneath the covers in bed! His foster reports: “Calvin is doing amazing! He was a bit shy on the first night but he opened up so much already. We’ve gotten his walking and feeding routine down. We did leave him alone for 2 hours and he did completely fine. Way more playful and energetic than day 1. He’s such a sweet pup.” Please note: Our Santa Cruz location’s Shelter hours are 11-6pm, 7 days a week! Story
HI - I'M DREAM! I'm a 4-year-old blue-and-white Pit Bull Terrier, in need of a foster or forever home. I have been waiting for a couple of years for a home - and keep getting overlooked since I suppose, I'm one of many who need homes right now. I am an easygoing boy - I love people and have done well with other dogs. I was surrendered at the shelter because my previous owners said they could not handle a puppy. Like most pitties, I'm a strong boy and will do well with an experienced owner who wants a loving companion. I love to chase the hose and will bark whenever I see it because I get so excited! I'm definitely a water dog. I'm also very food motivated and I love treats. I weigh about 50 pounds. Can you foster or adopt me? Please email for an application.

Story
HI - I'M MEERA! I am a beautiful & petite 5-year-old blue & white Pit Bull Terrier/Staffie in need of a foster or forever home. I've been waiting quite awhile for my adopter to find me! I weigh only about 45 lbs. I am a loving and cuddly girl and would do great with a single person, a couple, or a family with older kids. I love car rides, and love to go out and about and enjoy the sunshine. I'm not a big fan of other dogs, so will be best as the princess of my own castle, though I have not been leash reactive at my current location. Can you foster or adopt me? Please email for an application.

Story
WEIGHT: 60lbs This is Moo Deng. Our very own slippery house-hippo. Not yet internet famous but an icon and a legend in his own right. OUR Moo Deng is a three-year-old Pittie with smol ears and a HUGE heart. This guy is like sunshine in skin. He`s incredibly soft natured, even though he was made to look tough. He loves new people, no matter age, and sees strangers as friends. He also really enjoys others dog, especially ones who want to PLAY!Mood Deng came to us from our friends over at the Santa Cruz County Animal Shelter and because he originally came to them as a stray, his history is a bit of a question mark. Everything he has shown us here at the shelter leads us to believe he`s an upstanding canine citizen who`s here to bring smiles and love wherever he goes. Whoever ends up with this boy is SO lucky! At 60 pounds, he`s a sturdy and strong boy. Wouldn`t we all like biceps like his? Come check him out during our Browsing Hours (today through Sunday 11-5pm!)

Story
It's breaking my heart but we need to re-home our sweet dog Cardy and are running out of time. She is approx. 4 years old, weighs about 43 pounds, loves to be around people and is good with kids. Shes a staffshire bull dog and is the sweetest girl ever. She about 4 years old, loves to cuddle, take walks, nap and just hang around. She has been good with other dogs, and is just a joy to have around. If you or if you know anybody who might be looking to adopt a little love bug, please pass this on to them.
