Story
Alaska is a little girl who came running to the shelter to hide, we assume she was scared after being run over. At first glance we saw that she had a fracture in her hind leg, her first visit to the vet was to prepare her for an amputation, since her leg was beyond repair. After her recovery, she began to prepare to find her new home, currently she already has her vaccinations up to date, she is spayed and ready. She is a very pampered dog, like a big girl, waiting for love, affection and lots of cuddles, she likes to go for walks, eager to see new places, always happy, following you everywhere. She is very curious, elated to see you, and such an adorable, smart little girl. The fact that she is missing her leg does not stop her, she runs, plays and can even jump, she has adapted quite well to her new life. She is still a puppy, she will barely be a year old, she will not grow any more, she is medium, around 28 pounds. The $350.00 adoption fee covers the following: Transport to San Diego, CA. Spay/Neuter. All vaccines up to date. Deworming (puppies 2 sets). Flea medication up to date. Tick control up to date. Microchip. Microchip registration to new owner paid for. Collar. Temporary leash. The adoption fee does not include transportation to North of San Diego

Story
Luka is a healthy 3 year old Pitbull. He is very active and has a lot of love to give. My father got him when he was a puppy from a family that could no longer keep them in their apartment. My father, the main owner's health is declining and I am physically disabled, and am a wheelchair user, so we are unable to keep him. He does need house training, but he follows simple commands well. He is friendly with dogs in general but can play too rough with other dogs his size. He has a quirky and fun personality and loves to lean his upper body on everything. He's been an outside dog and usually uses the bathroom whenever he is taken out on a walk. For toys and treats, he doesn't have any specific tastes; he will play with and eat whatever you give him. For brand new people/strangers, he can react very energetically and will try to jump on and lick them.

Story
Bonnie was discovered chained to a fence in Tijuana. As result of this neglect, she suffered from injuries and pressure sores. Her mouth was severely infected, and she was shamefully undernourished. We had her evaluated by one of our veterinarian partners who provided the initial care required to improve her health and wellbeing. She was fostered in Tijuana by the same veterinarian, under close supervision, until she was well enough to come to her foster in the San Diego. She is excellent with other dogs, cats, and people. She is beyond sweet despite her start in life. She is looking for a furever home who will shower her with kindness and love! ##1866223##

Story
My journey began several years ago when I was running scared.  I covered a lot of ground, hopped some freeways, visited a university and jumped into a yard where someone ignored me until I could be caught.  I was scared and scarred.  My skin showed years of neglect with flea rash and irritation.  I was underweight and terrified of being touched or around people.  No one came for me at the shelter and I was doomed to death.  Once exited by my capture team, It did not take long before I realized my life had changed and people meant food, massage and toys.  I have spent the last FOUR years living in a kennel at the rescue facility.  I am not good with dogs but am now great with people, adventures outdoors, on leash AND house trained.  No longer a youngster, I am now a senior girl.  I would love nothing more than to find a place to enjoy the creature comforts in a foster or adoptive home rather than limited time with volunteers and at rescue outings.  Could that be you? Things to know about me - - I am the resident toy hoarder of the house. I patiently wait for all of the Nylabones to be hosed into my kennel during cleaning, so I can play with them all -food puzzle PRO! -don’t let the age fool you, this girl has energy for days! -walks well on leash, until a lizard or animal walks by then off to the races I go! Flight Risk: do not leave unattended in a yard, crate training is a must when you are gone, tight grip on the leash is a must on adventures. Story
Ivy is a Courtesy Post Only and is not a Second Chance Dog Rescue dog. SCDR is not responsible for any ownership, behavior, health, and representations made by the owner with respect to this dog. You must contact her adoption coordinator Ana at Ana@thriveanimalrescue.com for further information.  Ivy is a sweet, silly, cuddly, and affectionate girl - as of September 2024, she has been with us waiting for her forever family for over 456 days which is mind-blowing to staff at Thrive because of how great of a dog she is. Let's prioritize giving this lovebug a much deserved home for her to call her own!! Personality : She is a medium to high energy dog who loves to play - she enjoys mental and physical stimulation such as going for hikes or long walks/runs. She loves playing with other dogs and her people friends, but then she’s happy to relax and sunbathe in the yard after to decompress. Her favorite move is to flop on her back and show you her belly to ask for rubs :) Her Boxer zoomies will make you laugh! Training : Ivy has been going to doggie day care multiple times per week to hang out with all of her dog friends and has been doing great!! Despite her roughhousing playstyle with other large dogs, she is extremely gentle with puppies. She walks nicely on a leash and knows basic commands.  Ivy is on a special low-fat diet and we recommend that adopters keep her on this upon adoption to ensure she’s in tip-top health. The perfect forever family : She would do great in an active household with a young couple who loves to hike or go on adventures, and is good with kids 13+. She would likely love another active doggie friend. Ivy is available for a long-term committed foster or forever family. For further information or to meet Ivy, please contact Ana, Adoption Coordinator at Ana@thriveanimalrescue.com.  December 10, 2024, 4:48 pm

Story
Meet Abby! This beautiful 7-month-old, 28-pound princess is truly the most adorable and cute little girl you'll ever meet. She is a little survivor of 12, her mom was abandoned and at one day old, Abby and her 11 siblings were left in a box in the middle of nowhere with no shade. When we came for them after receiving a report from a neighbor of the owner, there were only 5 babies left alive, and we found the rest already dead inside a plastic bag with a knot in it. Abby grew up happy with her litter, they are very active and loving little ones. She is learning to walk on her leash, lives well with dogs and cats and is the most chubby of her litter. She is the smiliest and is very intelligent. It would be ideal for her to grow up in a home with children, she likes walks and although she is a little shy at first, she usually comes out of her shell quickly. The $350.00 adoption fee covers the following: Transport to San Diego, CA. Spay/Neuter. All vaccines up to date. Deworming (puppies 2 sets). Flea medication up to date. Tick control up to date.
