Story
All of our dogs are spayed/neutered, shots current (DHPP, Bordetella and Rabies where applicable), dewormed, flea and tick treated, and microchipped.  * If you are interested in a dog, please first read the biography on the dog (keep scrolling down for the bio!) and then go to our website, www.dpsrescue.com for an application. Our adoption fees vary. Each biography will specifically list the adoption fee. This dog will be at Palo Alto Pet Food Express on Saturday, November 16th from 12-3pm or until adopted. If you would like the first opportunity to adopt, please fill out an application to be considered.   Adoption Fee: $500   Prada is an 8-month old brindle whom we saved from the shelter as a newborn and adopted out. Her adopter had a quickly deteriorating medical condition arise and wanted the absolute best for this gal, so we said of course we'd care for this bundle of love again and find her a perfect forever home.   Calling all brindle lovers! Named after the fashion house, Prada comes with a one-of-a-kind designer coat complete with white fur collar and gloves.   From the foster family: Prada a very happy young lady. Her tail is always wagging. She loves people and gets along with humans big and small, young and old. She also really enjoys having a fur-sibling. Our other foster, a 2yo Shephard, and her play together beautifully throughout the day.   Prada is housetrained (not a single accident) and knows some basic commands. She sleeps very well through the night and allows us to wake-up slowly in the morning. We get up about 7am and head outside for playtime and potty, followed by breakfast. Lots of fun activity during the day and also downtime while we're working, followed by dinner. She's a peaceful office-mate. Lights out about 10pm.   Prada likes her plushy toys best. Not a chewer of furniture. She does fine at home when we have to go out (has access to a few rooms and the yard). Prada will sometimes mistake herself for a lapdog during movie night, which is totally endearing.   Prada's well socialized. She been on college campuses brightening the days of students studying for exams, done yappy-hours at corporations bringing joy at the end of long work-days, and greets her foster sister for school pick-up with all her friends around to say "hi" and give pets. She can be silly, too, and loves rolling over for belly rubs.   Prada's 55lbs (her mom is a 40-lb brindle, never met the dad) . She enjoys daily walks/runs and adventure outings, and saying hello to everyone. She is SO HAPPY. Prada is bright and strong, and will be a good training partner in puppy classes. Leash-walking should be for parents or older kids, due to her strength. Prada rides very well in the car. Prada would enjoy being a playful companion to your friendly dog, or could be solo in a home where love and attention is doted on her. Adopters should have had a dog in the last five years.  Kids in the home should be over the age of 8 and respectful. When you adopt from DPS Rescue you get a foster write-up from people who have lived with and cared for the dog you're adding to your family. We get to know their personality and can provide you with their routine, habits and insights into their nature. You'll start off on the right foot (er, paw) from day one! You're helping clear the shelters because DPS pulls great dogs from overcrowded shelters and gives them time to decompress at home and let their personalities shine through. We socialize, vaccinate, spay/neuter, feed and care for our foster dogs all along the way of getting to know them so that you can read in-depth profiles and make an informed decision. It's a lot of hard work - but worth it! Thanks for adopting from DPS and supporting the efforts of dogs finding their forever homes. November 15, 2024, 5:23 pm

Story
Love dogs but not the cost of owning one? HAVE WE GOT A DEAL FOR YOU! We are looking for a long term foster for Camilla as the cost of her food and medication is prohibitive for adopters. Camilla is allergic to just about everything so she takes an allergy pill every morning and eats special food which is quite expensive. We are looking for someone in town with a landscaped yard (she’s allergic to dust) and someone who is home a good deal if the time. We will provide all food, medication, and veterinary care. We will also provide a crate as she must be crated when you leave because of separation anxiety. Camilla is crate trained and potty trained. Camilla is so so sweet and gets along with other dogs and kids. She hasn’t been around cats but I expect it’s not a good idea.   If you’re interested in helping Camilla please fill out our foster application. https://www.shelterluv.com/matchme/foster/BPNovember 5, 2024, 11:25 pm

Story
Meet Lia our strikingly beautiful, approximately 3 yr. old, spayed pittie blend. She has a stunning light brindle coat reminiscent of a caramel sundae and her bright golden eyes, reflect a gentle soul and a curious mind. Lia’s ear to ear infectious grin, her tall, and pointed antennae ears add to her uniqueness. Be prepared for strangers to comment on her incredible features often. She is a stunner with a fan club! Lia is fully vaccinated, microchipped and was a great canine citizen in playgroups at the San José shelter. While in her past life at the shelter she enjoyed supervised romps with other dogs, these days she prefers 1:1 time with humans -what can we say, she is all about the humans. When approached by stranger’s up close and personal, she melts into a 60lb, wiggle worm who may try to slip you a little tongue action but behind a door she’ll sound like a posse of guardian dogs ready to defend their flock. All bark, no action – can be bought with treats or pets. Lia epitomizes the essence of “cannot be bothered” by passing dogs while on leash. She is an expert hiker, or an ideal companion for a leisurely stroll. She firmly supports the “suns out – buns out” lifestyle. PACC seeks an active household that appreciates large, strong, and active dogs, particularly those who enjoy cuddling with the whole family on the couch for Netflix and chill time. Kids in the home should be 10+ because little humans take a lot of time, dogs take time, and most families don't have time for both. Cats are not recommended. If you’re looking for a girl who combines beauty and brain’s, then fill out our application and meet this stunner. If Lia sounds like a good fit with your situation, COPY AND PASTE THE LINK TO OUR APPLICATION BELOW INTO YOUR BROWSER - Adoptapet does not support live links: https://forms.gle/EFEHcajugPWz2wJdA

Each biography will specifically list the adoption fee.Adoption Fee: $800   Pizookie is a 3 year old English Bulldog x Micro American Bulldog mix who’s as sweet as your end of the day treat! Pizookie was rescued from the shelter with her pal after being surrendered by their former home. We aren’t sure how anyone could have left these adorable smooshy faced pups behind, but we had to save them and give them the best ever second chance! Pizookie weighs 40 pounds and is an absolutely gorgeous merle pup. Bulldog lovers won’t find a better pup than our Pizookie, we promise you that! We will be prioritizing homes with experience around flat faced and Bulldog breeds as they have unique health specifications. If you’re ready for the sweetest new dessert for your family, come on down and order our limited edition Pizookie today!       Pizookie is a super duper friendly and outgoing gal who adores her people and the world around her. From minute one, she was extremely affectionate and ready for snuggles and scratches. She’s never met a stranger she hasn’t immediately won over and plopped her head into the lap of. She’s a total people dog, but she isn’t a Velcro dog. She’s fine to occupy herself if you need her to, but is always ready for another attempt at the lap dog life. Pizookie is very food motivated and smart, so we expect she will continue amazing you for the rest of her life. Pizookie has a medium energy level, she loves playing with her toys and going on her walks but also spends a lot of her days sleeping and lounging about. With her piercing blue eyes and her gorgeous merle coat, she is just as sweet and affectionate as can be. We have no doubt that she would be a famous Instagram model in no time! Even though she isn’t “normal” lap dog size, she has no idea of that fact and she’s happy to do her best to get into your arms on the couch. She’s basically an adorable dog and a weighted blanket all wrapped up in a cute package!  Pizookie wakes up at 8 AM and goes right outside for potty and breakfast. She either sleeps in a crate with the door open or on her bed. She spends the morning following her foster people around before snoozing in anticipation for her mid-day walk. After her walk, she’s pretty mellow for the rest of the day - entertaining herself by chewing on a toy or her Kong until dinner time. She also takes plenty of well-deserved naps in between her play sessions and cuddle sessions. It’s hard being Pizookie! Once she eats, she goes out for another potty break and a playful romp. In the evening, she relaxes by the fire or clambers onto the couch to hang out with her foster people. She goes out for one last potty and then heads to bed  Pizookie currently lives with another dog but she prefers her people, so they largely ignore each other. She walks well on a leash and doesn’t pull. She is still working on her housetraining but is making quick progress. Her dream home is one where her people are ready to shower her in love and affection. She would be an amazing WFH buddy, as long as you’re excited for a snoring buddy to make your Zoom calls full of fun. Ready for snorts and cuddles? Come order Pizookie!      Pizookie is only an option for homes with prior dog owning experience, especially with flat faced breeds. Kids should be over the age of 8.November 20, 2024, 7:05 pm

Squish was rescued from the shelter with her sister, Pizookie. We aren’t sure who left these two adorable girls behind, but we quickly stepped up to ensure they found the best forever homes possible. We will be prioritizing homes with Bulldog experience as this breed has unique quirks that make them the best! Squish weighs 40 pounds and is the happiest, goofiest little gal in the entire world. Seriously, look at that smooshy face and tell us you didn’t fall in love instantly! If you’re ready for a fabulous new best friend, come and pick up Squishmallow from the toy store today!       Squishmallow is a total lovebug who is always ready for a snack and a belly rub! She adores her people and it has been amazing to watch her personality emerge more and more each day. She loves being part of the pack, clambering after her foster siblings happily. Squish is always down for a snuggle or a cuddle, and totally thinks she’s a lapdog even though she’s a bit bigger than the average lap pup. She knows how to capture all the attention in the room with her adorable face with her perpetual tongue sticking out. She’s a fabulous WFH companion as long as you’re happy with white noise in the form of Bulldog snuffles and grunts. Squishmallow is very much a couch potato type of dog, she’s more likely to snooze the day away than join an energetic hike. She does love a slow walk around the block though, as long as it ends with a sweet treat! According to her foster, Squish has been a perfect guest who is a total treat to spend time with. She lives up to her name with her smooshy face and her laid back personality. We know her personality will shine as she quickly wins you over when you meet her.  Squish wakes up between 6-7 AM, but would absolutely sleep in as late as you’d like! Everyone starts their day by going outside to do their business before coming inside to scarf down their breakfast. She spends her days wandering the yard, napping on the couch, getting cuddles and scratches, and making an assortment of Bulldog noises. She loves hanging out in the yard and sniffing all the scents of autumn! She eats dinner between 4-5 PM and eagerly seeks out extra snacks that her humans might drop on the floor. In the evening, she lounges on the couch and watches some TV as she unwinds from the day. She goes out for one last potty at 9 PM and then follows her foster mom to bed where she cuddles all night long.  Squishmallow currently lives with several dogs and gets along with them all. She adores people and is happy as long as she can soak up attention and affection. Squish is working on her leash walking skills and is making progress quickly! She would benefit from a home prepared to continue her training and socialization, as she wasn’t given the building blocks in her former home. We are hoping to find a home knowledgeable of the EBD breed so she can live her best and healthiest life! Come on down to the DPS toy store and meet our special Squishmallow!      Squishmallow is only an option for homes with prior dog owning experience. Priority will be given to those with experience in flat-faced breeds. Kids should be over the age of 9.November 15, 2024, 5:23 pm
