WEIGHT: 60lbs Meet Moo Deng- Looking to adopt the internet's next social media star? This big guy already has a viral name and a personality to match. He came to us from a previous shelter and has been doing well here. He can be a bit timid of new situations but overall if outgoing and has adjusted well to shelter life. He walks well on leash and has made a few dog friends already. We don't know too much about his history, but given his laid-back attitude, we feel confident that he would do well in a variety of home environments. If you'd like to meet him, feel free to call our adoptions desk or stop by during Browsing Hours: Wed-Sun 11-5.

Story
Meet Tigger, the brindle pibble mix! He arrived at the shelter as a stray and has been thriving in foster care. Tigger has demonstrated he is house-trained, loves to cuddle on the couch, and enjoys soft stuffed toys. He sometimes thinks blankets and clothes are toys too, but doesn’t chew on them. When playful, he can get a bit overstimulated and mouthy, so it’s best to redirect him with a toy. Tigger walks well on a leash, initially pulling but settling down. Tigger has been selective with dog friends, so it’s required for resident dogs to meet him at the shelter before adoption. He has been polite when seeing other dogs on walks, although eager to interact. He’s curious about squirrels and will pull towards them on walks. When left alone, he settles down nicely without getting into trouble. For his comfort, quieter dog areas are recommended, avoiding dog parks and high-traffic areas. If you`re looking for a cuddly companion, come fill out an application to meet Tigger today! From 10/5 through 10/31, we are having a “Spooky Low Adoption Fees” promotion. All cats, kittens, dogs, and puppies will have a reduced adoption fee of $31, while small animals will have a fee of $13. No tricks, all treats!Come on in to meet your new BFF today at 1001 Rodriguez Street, Santa Cruz from 11-6pm. All adoptions are first come, first serve in person at the Shelter, and must be completed before 4:45pm

Story
Handsome Calvin is always dressed in his best tuxedo, but despite his dapper looks, no one came forward to reclaim him. Calvin was wary at first, but has slowly but surely warmed up to staff and volunteers and is ready to find his new family. Once he gets comfortable, he is affectionate and playful. He`s met some other dogs at the shelter and, just like with people, he`s initially a little uncertain, with a brief “hello” with some sniffs, but then warms up with play bows, some silly play, and enjoys hanging with other dogs. Because Calvin came to the shelter as a stray, we don`t have much history about how he is in a home environment, with children, or with cats. Interested in meeting him? Come to the shelter at 1001 Rodriguez Street, Santa Cruz, during business hours (11:00 - 6:00 every day except holidays) and talk to the front desk staff about meeting him!

Story
HI - I'M DREAM! I'm a 4-year-old blue-and-white Pit Bull Terrier, in need of a foster or forever home. I have been waiting for a couple of years for a home - and keep getting overlooked since I suppose, I'm one of many who need homes right now. I am an easygoing boy - I love people and have done well with other dogs. I was surrendered at the shelter because my previous owners said they could not handle a puppy. Like most pitties, I'm a strong boy and will do well with an experienced owner who wants a loving companion. I love to chase the hose and will bark whenever I see it because I get so excited! I'm definitely a water dog. I'm also very food motivated and I love treats. I weigh about 50 pounds. Can you foster or adopt me? Please email for an application.
