Why Jolly Giant is the one for you:Say hi to Jolly Giant, the sweetest pup you'll ever lay eyes on! He's currently living the good life in a foster home. Here is what the foster says about him: "JG is a wonderfully easy-going dog. He is quiet and very calm around people and our other dog. Even with his hearing loss, he is quickly learning house rules and routines. He knows hand signs for "come" and "sit" and is learning "move" and "stay". Treats are a great tool for teaching him. He also loves walks and pets on his neck and chest but so far he is not very interested in toys. He will use a doggie door to take himself outside but will also request to go out. He does not go up stairs but he will get up on a low couch for his afternoon nap." At SDHS:Jolly Giant is vaccinated, microchipped and neutered. Story
Meet Lulu, Lulu was brought in by her previous owner on 8/24/24. Here is some information on Lulu:Behavior history summary: Lulu came into care in August 2024. While coming into care, Lulu displayed fearful behavior (hesitancy/thrashing on leash, barking at loud noises) and positive social behavior toward handlers. As time in care increases, Lulu's fearful behavior has decreased in frequency and intensity and she has begun displaying more excitable/impulsive behavior (jumping on people), and has developed positive social relationships with staff.Dogs: No history while in care. Lulu's previous owner reported that she "gets along with [their] other small dog," and that she "barks at other dogs at first." The previous owner also reported that "when food is taken [from Lulu] by another pet she will growl." Cats: No history while in care. Lulu's previous owner reports that she "barks at cats around [the] park." Kids: Lulu's previous owner reported that she has been around children ages 14 and up who visited their home, and that Lulu's behavior around children is "scared but warms up." Due to fearfulness and excitable/impulsive behavior, it is strongly recommended that Lulu go to a home with no children under 10 years old.Behavior consult: Recommended virtual consult for fearful behavior. Required consult pre-adoption if going home with another dog.Additional information: Due to fearful behavior, Lulu may benefit from receiving routine veterinary care at a Fear Free Certified Practice or at a clinic that can help her adopter come up with a low-stress handling plan. In our care Lulu has been vaccinated, microchipped and spayed. Lulu is now ready for her new home. If you would like to meet Lulu come to the Escondido Campus. Primary Color: Mouse Grey Secondary Color: White Weight: 56.4 Age: 1yrs 6mths 4wks

If you're interested in adopting, please email us at escadoptions@sdhumane.org How this pet arrived: Lucy was brought in by her previous owner on August 27, 2024.Why this pet is the one for you:Meet Lucy, your future snuggle buddy and professional couch potato! This sweet senior gal may be working through a few medical speed bumps, but she's still got a heart full of love (and plenty of tail wags) to give. Lucy's currently treating a skin infection and is on meds for dry eyes-so yes, she's officially a diva with her own skincare and eye regimen. She's also fighting off Ehrlichia and Anaplasma, two fancy-sounding tick-borne illnesses that she's ready to kick to the curb by October. Add in a little dental work, and Lucy's basically the poster pup for self-care. Despite her medical to-do list, Lucy is a gentle, friendly soul who just wants a quiet home where she can be pampered like the queen she is. Bonus points if there are no young kiddos to disturb her beauty naps! Adopt Lucy and give her the retirement of her dreams-because this golden girl deserves nothing less. Don't forget to bring a leash and collar for a safe journey home! Primary Color: Fawn Weight: 43 Age: 8yrs 2mths 2wks

Story
Evette was saved off the euthanasia list. She’s looking for her happily ever after. Evette had entered a shelter after she was abandoned by her family. She was found in the back yard of a home that caught fire, but no one claimed her, so into the shelter system she went. She was one of the few lucky ones who were rescued and is currently in a foster home in Los Angeles. Evette loves car rides, does amazing with kids. She is spayed and current on her vaccinations and also has lots of energy so she would do best with a home that has a backyard and someone who will walk her every day. Her foster mom says of Evette they are still working on introductions to other dogs. Her default is interest and wanting to play, although she doesn’t know how to play yet so she can be a little rough, mouthy. For these reasons, if joining another home, it would be best with a dog that is tolerant and well adjusted. She’s still learning and adapting well overall in her foster home. With a slow introduction and an experienced handler her confidence will start to shine.

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. The tale of Robby, a 10-year-old Boxer Mix, is a heart-wrenching illustration of how a dog can be considered homeless despite technically having an owner. For a decade, Robby endured a life of neglect, living in a dilapidated dog house barely fit for a rat, positioned just outside the home of his owner. Stripped of the basic necessities of care and nourishment, he had no choice but to resort to scavenging for food, begging passersby for scraps and water, all while defending himself from the other street dogs that roamed freely. This life of hardship took its toll on his health, leaving him riddled with infections and suffering from painful rotten and broken teeth due to his desperate attempts to eat whatever he could find. Fortunately, a glimmer of hope arose when concerned individuals turned to me for assistance. I understood that Robby’s situation was a call for compassion that could not be ignored. Upon his rescue, it became clear just how much love and care Robby had been deprived of over the years. With proper veterinary care and rehabilitation, this gentle soul began to regain his health, blossoming into a vibrant and affectionate companion. Robby’s journey is of survival and resilience!! When kindness finally entered his life after years of starvation and loneliness his soul came to life. However, the scars of his past linger on. Although Robby is now a sweet dog who adores human company, the years of ill treatment have left him with food and treat aggression. These behaviors are not indicative of his character but rather a reflection of his survival instincts honed in an unforgiving environment. We continue to help Robby by overcoming his feeling of being food deprived with training and he's doing so much better. We are committed to Robby!!! It’s believed that the best path for Robby is to live as an only dog, allowing him to bask in the one thing he has longed for throughout his tumultuous life—human kindness and love. Robby's story is not just a reminder of the plight of many animals; it serves as a call to action for compassion and understanding, driving us to provide every creature the loving home they deserve. I added Robby’s before pictures on his post so you can see what his life was like and to show how resilient a beautiful soul could be. Robby deserves to live the rest of his life in peace, comfort and with a lot of love which he thrives on. If you live in San Diego County, have a home with a secured yard and would love a wonderful companion dog then please complete our adoption application at tlck9rescue.orgVisit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.November 5, 2024, 9:16 pm

Story
Hi, this is Sebastian he is a full breed boxer and he is 2 years old. He’s very social and loves attention and hugs. He has grown up around his 2 other brothers from same litter but unfortunately due to moving I cannot keep him. He’s very friendly and loves to run and play catch. He loves making friends at the dog park. He has a great personality and we are so sad to have to see him go. He need’s special attention to his diet because he’s allergic to chicken and eats a salmon & rice blend dog food. Also he has sensitive skin due to these food allergies. He’s the smallest out of all his brothers I’d say he weighs low 60’s lbs! He is microchipped and he is fixed. With up to date shots!
