Story
Jellyfish is a kind, sweet, and playful pup. He is super friendly and does well with a lot of attention. He does really well in any setting: in an apartment setting and/ or in a yard. He sleeps a good amount of the day and loves cuddles. Friendly with dogs but I’m not sure about cats. Loves people. He doesn’t destroy or dig holes. He is around 60lbs with a short coat.

Story
Meet Clark. If you’re looking for a dog who likes a good stroll around the neighborhood, but likes to power nap even more, this sweet eight-year-old is your guy. Imagine a dog who will completely submerge himself under the covers. If you can’t find him buried in a nest of his own making, Clark’s second favorite napping place is in a patch of sun. Be warned: If you have a favorite spot on the couch, make sure to get there before him, otherwise, you’ll be faced with a Clark who is sitting on the ground and staring up at you. That’s him politely but forcefully insinuating you must move if you love him. If you think you won’t give in, you just might after he turns away in a huff and lets out a grunt or two in protest. Oh, the drama. He’s lucky he’s so cute. Give Clark a snuffle mat or a toy with a treat in it and he will light up. To say he’s treat-motivated is an understatement. It’s helped when it comes to his obedience training: Clark will impress you with his “sit,” “down,” “stay,” “come,” and “paw.” If you have a short attention span when playing fetch–good news!–so does he. He’s got about five “fetches” in him and then it’s “High-five, Human,” as he checks his watch and insists he’s “really gotta get back to chilling out.” Tolerant and gentle, he’s also good in the car, so if you’re looking for a Road Dog, Clark is right there with you. Clark hasn’t been tested with cats, but has lived harmoniously with bunnies across two different foster homes. He’s currently an only-dog, but he’s lived harmoniously with other male dogs in the past. When it comes to new humans and dogs, he prefers a formal introduction and slow integration, but ultimately he's a sweet boy with a full body wag. Clark is more than ready for his forever home. If you think he might be the one for you, fill out the application today! https://k9kismet.org/adoption-application/ Follow him on IG @k9kismet: #K9KismetClark [neutered male; approx. 9.5 years old; 55 lbs]

Story
Levi is a good boy who loves people and all that goes into being part of the family. He’s affectionate, cuddly, and–quite honestly–hasn’t gotten the message that he’s not a lapdog. He’s going to find a way to snuggle close and lay his giant dome on your lap. He’s also a pro-sleeper through the night. You may have to rustle him for breakfast, versus the other way around. Levi enjoys getting out and about to smell all the smells and meet all the people. He had to rebuild his stamina after being found as an emaciated stray with an abdominal blockage, but he now has all kinds of pep in his step for walks and hikes. If you like to mix-up your exercise routine, Levi is great in the car, always eager to jump in the back seat and see the sights. He also lights up around a hose and a ball. House-trained, curious, smart, tolerant, and motivated by treats and praise, he’s going to make an adopter very happy. Levi has successfully lived with other dogs in the past and has had dog friends of various sizes: He prefers the ladies and calm males. We believe he could live with a well-balanced pack (with proper introductions of course) or live happily as a solo dog. If you want to meet Levi, fill out the application today! https://k9kismet.org/adoption-application Follow him on IG @k9kismet: #K9KismetLevi [neutered male; approx. 6 years old; 60 lbs]

Story
Recently, Tiger Lily suffered a loss in the form of her person passing away. For the last 2.5 years, she has lived as an only-dog to an elderly man. He had been Tiger Lily’s temp foster through the shelter and continued to be there for her once we pulled her into rescue in an effort to save her from euthanasia and get her the extensive emergency dental care she needed. A great fit for each other, Tiger Lily enjoyed being his companion. Now a healthy senior at nearly 10 years young, she’s looking for an adopter to spend her golden years with. It’s hard to describe Tiger Lily without overusing the word love. Afterall, that’s what she’s all about. Tiger Lily loves everyone she meets. When petting this extremely affectionate girl, she leans in as though to say, “Where have you been my whole life?” Her doting nature is carried over to her stuffed toys. We’ve seen her meticulously pick out her favorites from a toy box and, one-by-one, carry them over to her bed before diving in and enjoying them. Don’t let her age fool you: Tiger Lily lights up at the very mention of a walk. Forget all the fitness apps: If you need an exercise partner to motivate you to get your daily steps in, Tiger Lily is there for you. Her preference would be a route that never ends, but she’s happy to follow your lead. Tiger Lily is well-mannered on the leash, sticking by your side and waiting for cues. Tiger Lily would be happy as an only-dog or living as part of a pack. At the end of a long day, this sweet soul will put herself to bed, where she sleeps peacefully through the night. She’s more than ready to find a home to call her own. Story
Ellie’s rescue journey began at an emergency hospital where good Samaritans took her after finding her as a stray. She had a major wound to the side of her face, and X-rays would come to reveal the unthinkable: Ellie had been shot in the head. The bullet entered near her eye and traveled downward, lodging in her sinus cavity. Ellie was stable, but her injury was serious and would require surgical intervention with a specialist. As an injured stray, Ellie became a ward of Long Beach Animal Care Services. Wanting to give her every chance possible, Ellie’s guardians at LBACS wanted to send her to a specialist but would need a rescue partner to be there for her recovery. Thanks to a foster stepping forward during her time of crisis, we were able to offer our help as a rescue. Ellie was able to get the enucleation and rhinoplasty she’d need for the surgeons to retrieve the bullet. After strict crate rest for several weeks following the surgery, Ellie has made a full recovery! Now that she’s had time to decompress and heal, she’s shown us her true personality. Here’s what we’ve learned about her: Ellie is a high-energy, playful, 50-pound one-year-old who lives for toys, playing in the water, and belly rubs. Throw in some time for a trot around the neighborhood and some hang time with her cat and dog friends in the house, and she will tell you that was her perfect day. (Yes, cats! Ellie might even enjoy the company of cats more than she does dogs. Her foster has witnessed her grooming one of her kittie friends on more than one occasion.) Thanks to the work her foster and one of our trusted trainers has put in with her, Ellie’s confidence in and out of the home has been increasing every week. She has learned her basic obedience skills, is house-trained, and crate-trained. As we continue to introduce her to new environments and stimuli, her perfect adopter will be someone who is patient and understands that some wounds need more time to heal than others. Dogs are resilient, and Ellie is no different; it doesn’t take her long to warm-up to people who give her some time and space. Ultimately, she’s a curious and affectionate pup who is looking for the security that comes with routine and the knowledge that she can count on her caretakers. If you can offer the stability that Ellie deserves and want to meet her, fill out the application today! https://k9kismet.org/adoption-application Follow her on IG @k9kismet: #K9KismetEllie [spayed female; approx 1 year old; 50 lbs]

Story
Scout is a loveable mutt dog who deserves a chance! ❤️ She has been one of my “fosters” for 5+ yrs but never found a “permanent” home. She is a wiggly sweetheart and a total lapdog. She is UTD on meds, crate-trained, knows most commands. I figured she’d live out her days with us…but sadly that is no longer possible. She has lived with many other dogs & other pets her whole life with no issues, until just recently. Last month she got into a fight with another one of our rescue dogs in the backyard (we had a babysitter, so we don’t know all the details). It was an awful & traumatizing loss for my whole family. 😢 I also just had back surgery and we can no longer care for Scout. We need to rehome her or find a long term foster immediately. We love her and this is a painful decision, but she needs a home where she and other pets are safe. She has never had issues or dog fights prior to this, and is currently being fostered with 3 small dogs & 2 cats. Please help Scout!!!
