Story
HI - I'M DREAM! I'm a 4-year-old blue-and-white Pit Bull Terrier, in need of a foster or forever home. I have been waiting for a couple of years for a home - and keep getting overlooked since I suppose, I'm one of many who need homes right now. I am an easygoing boy - I love people and have done well with other dogs. I was surrendered at the shelter because my previous owners said they could not handle a puppy. Like most pitties, I'm a strong boy and will do well with an experienced owner who wants a loving companion. I love to chase the hose and will bark whenever I see it because I get so excited! I'm definitely a water dog. I'm also very food motivated and I love treats. I weigh about 50 pounds. Can you foster or adopt me? Please email for an application.

Story
HI - I'M MEERA! I am a beautiful & petite 5-year-old blue & white Pit Bull Terrier/Staffie in need of a foster or forever home. I've been waiting quite awhile for my adopter to find me! I weigh only about 45 lbs. I am a loving and cuddly girl and would do great with a single person, a couple, or a family with older kids. I love car rides, and love to go out and about and enjoy the sunshine. I'm not a big fan of other dogs, so will be best as the princess of my own castle, though I have not been leash reactive at my current location. Can you foster or adopt me? Please email for an application.

Story
Meet Griffey!-4 year old male German Pitsky (German Shepherd x Pitbull x Husky!)-Crate trained and house trained in his previous home-Knows a lot of cues such as “sit”, “stay”, “down”, “outside”, “crate”, “wait”, “eat”, “no bark”, “load up”, “heel”, “easy” and “place”. If you are looking for a smart cookie to do positive reinforcement based training with – Griffey is your guy!-Has history of being around cats and was curious with them-Walks well on leash-Has been a good canine citizen with other dogs out in the world and here at the shelter.A dedicated volunteer took Griffey on a trip around town and reports: `He`s clearly experienced in the car, and likes to sit with his head out. I`ve taken him to fairly busy places, yesterday was Seacliff/Rio Del Mar and today was East Cliff/Moran Beach & he was a total rockstar. No issues at all. He has been pretty good and nonschalant about walking past other dogs. He is insanely smart and is very esaily redirected if you call his name.`Now through December 23rd – the Santa Cruz County Animal Shelter is hosting “Home for the Holidays”. This adoption event reduces the adoption fee for all cats, rabbits and dogs to $50.Please note: Our Santa Cruz location’s Shelter hours are 11-6pm, 7 days a week! Story
HAPPY HOLIDAY SEASON! I'M MARCY! I'm a sweet and lovable 8-year-old female red & white Pit Bull Terrier in need of a new home. There are a few things you should know about me. First, I truly do prefer to be an only dog, though would likely do well with a male pal, as I had one before. But I love people and am very loyal. I also love being petted, rubbed and given lots of affection. Secondly, I was attacked by another dog about a year ago and lost part of my nose, but this does not impact me one bit. I only look a little funny but it doesn't change my lovable personality. I have been waiting a long time for a home because apparently, nobody wants a funny looking dog who would love to be the only dog in the home. So if you can look past my imperfections, I would love to be your companion. I'm still very active and would be happy to go for walks and hikes. Can you foster or adopt me? I am currently looking for a foster or forever home. I weigh 64 lbs. Please email for an application.
