Story
Meet Hannah, a sweet and affectionate girl who’s been part of our family for the past five years. She adores cuddling with our kids, basking in the sun, rolling on her back, and napping by my side while I work. However, Hannah now needs a new home where she can thrive. When we adopted her, she was a greeter dog at the South LA Shelter, known for being great with kids, dogs, and cats. She even earned an A+ at doggy daycare. Unfortunately, our family faced a life-altering event when our young son was diagnosed with cancer, forcing us to move in with my elderly parents. Hannah, being too much for them to handle, spent the next year and a half in foster care. She did best with an experienced dog trainer and two large dogs during this time. Since coming home in 2020, we've discovered that Hannah can be selective about other dogs and new people. She’s had successful playdates at her trainer’s facility but doesn’t get along with our other dog, leading to two fights in the past three years. She also gets anxious around unexpected visitors, occasionally nipping but never leaving a puncture. With proper introductions on a leash, she’s been sweet and friendly. We’ve tried everything—training, baby gates, and changing our routines—but it's clear Hannah needs a home with a pit-savvy owner who understands her behavior. Recently, she slipped out the door at a friend’s house and was injured in a scuffle with another dog. Her trainer believes she can succeed in the right environment and has generously offered to board her for a couple of weeks while we search for her forever home. Hannah is a loving dog who needs structure and a firm, experienced owner. We’ve poured years of effort into her because of her incredible heart, and now we’re asking for help in finding her a safe and loving home.

Story
Hi, I’m Honey! As my name suggests, I’m as sweet as can be, with a beautiful honey-colored coat. I’m a 4-year-old female Pitbull mix, up to date on vaccines, microchipped, and spayed. My foster mom has done a great job helping me get used to my kennel and potty training. I’m on the smaller side, weighing about 47 pounds, and currently eating Purina Pro Plan Sensitive Skin & Stomach to keep me feeling my best. I’m a happy, easygoing girl who loves to roam around the yard and occasionally get the zoomies when I’m feeling extra joyful! Indoors, I like to snuggle on the couch with my family. I’m not big on toys, but I enjoy chewing on plush bears and Nyla bones. I absolutely adore kids and people. I’m looking for a forever home where I can be the only pet, with a family that will be patient and continue working on my training. I’ve been through some tough times, so I need a little time to warm up. My ideal family will also take safety precautions and kennel me when I’m home alone to ensure I stay safe and out of trouble. If you’re looking for a sweet, loyal companion, I’d love to meet you!

Meet Darla! She’s a lovable, sweet girl around 6-7 years old and is spayed, house-trained, and knows how to use a doggy door. Darla is wonderful with children, especially my grandkids, and has a gentle, affectionate nature. However, she would do best in a home without cats. I’m looking for a caring, safe home where Darla will be loved and well taken care of—she truly deserves it. If you’re looking for a loyal, family-friendly companion, Darla could be the perfect addition to your home!

Story
This beauty queen with perfect ears is looking for her forever home! Dubbed "the perfect pocket pittie," she was named Chilli after her favorite show, "Bluey." She is 50 lbs, approximately 3 years old, and is an energetic girl who just wants to be around her people whether it's on the couch or in the car en route to the beach. She is crate-trained, dog friendly and has been good with kids while her exposure has been minimal. Chilli's story is a mystery as she was found on the street in South LA post-partum, scared, and separated from her puppies who were never found. The couple who found her quickly learned that she had a heart condition that required an expensive fix, and knowing the strain currently on the shelter and rescue system would put a dog like her at immediate risk, chose to foster themselves with help from Ace of Hearts, Angel City Pitbulls, Stand Up for Pits and Free Animal Doctor. We are happy to report that her surgery and recovery went perfectly and she will live a long, happy and healthy life with her forever family. She is also spayed and up to date on her vaccinations. Chilli requires a patient home due to some understandable initial stranger danger. The couple has been taking Chilli to group training classes and working with a trainer 1:1 to build her confidence. It has been going incredibly well and they are happy to make introductions and help facilitate an easy transition. What You Should Know About Chilli: Housebroken and crate-trained, Chilli sleeps soundly through the night without a peep. She'll greet you with a happy dance each morning and patiently waits for her food. She’s an Olympic Gold Medalist in snuggling and is working hard to perfect her leash manners. While she can get a bit excited on walks, she’s easily redirected. Chilli’s food-motivated nature makes her a great helper in the kitchen, but she’s never too eager to swipe anything off the table. Though she may take a little time to warm up, once she does, Chilli is the most loving, floppy, and joyful companion you could ask for. She’s playful, curious, and communicates her needs well. She’s had limited exposure to kids but has done well with the few she’s met. If Chilli is your soul dog, she’ll be your loyal best friend, whether you’re cuddling on the couch, enjoying a day at the beach, or heading out for a road trip. She’ll thrive in a patient, loving home and will give you everything and more in return. In early July, Chilli underwent a successful balloon valvoplasty to repair her pulmonic stenosis, thanks to the generosity of over 150 donors. She’s now fully recovered and ready to live a long, healthy life with her forever family. Chilli is a truly special dog, and we hope you’ll fall in love with her just like we have.

Story
Meet Bella! A 7-year-old American Pitbull Terrier hailing from San Tan Valley, Arizona. Bella is looking for her next loving family, ready to accompany them on long walks, indulge in playtime, and engage in backyard running sessions. She thrives on being with her "people" and cherishes their company! When it comes to obedience, Bella is quite the scholar! She readily responds to commands such as sit, stay, come, dinner, treat, and many other words commonly used in daily conversations. Her eagerness to please makes training sessions a breeze! Bella is the epitome of a loving and loyal companion. However, it's essential to note that she cannot coexist with other dogs or cats. She has displayed aggression on two separate occasions, resulting in physical altercations with family dogs within the household. Therefore, caution must be exercised when introducing her to other canines. Despite her aversion to other animals, Bella has never shown aggression towards people. She is playful, devoted, and maintains a medium energy level. Her friendly disposition extends to strangers, and she is particularly good with children! Rest assured, Bella's vaccinations are up to date, and she has been spayed and microchipped for added security. If you're interested in learning more about Bella or considering her for adoption, feel free to reach out to us directly at adopt@joyfulpets.com. We'd be happy to provide you with further information about this wonderful companion! Also, Bella is open to a long-distance adoption—love knows no distance when finding your perfect companion!

Story
Meet Zipper! A lovable three-year-old American Pitbull Terrier from San Tan Valley, AZ, who sports a sleek gray and white coat that perfectly matches her charming personality. Zipper is the embodiment of a cuddly companion, with a love for snuggling that knows no bounds! Zipper’s zest for life is evident in her favorite pastimes: she thrives on playful walks and interactive training sessions. Her toy box is a true testament to her playful spirit, filled with an eclectic mix of tiny squeakers and hilariously oversized playthings that she adores. Trained to know several commands like 'sit', 'wait', 'lay down', and 'paw', she’s as smart as she is sweet. Though Zipper is wonderfully social with humans and shows great gentleness with children, she prefers to be the sole pet in the home. Zipper has experienced some challenges with dog reactivity, but with three months of training and medication, she's shown significant improvement. To continue her progress, it's important for her new family to work with a behaviorist or trainer. Zipper's loving and loyal nature will flourish with the right support! Zipper's most endearing trait? Once she's snug and settled, she’s an endless fountain of kisses, showing her affection without reserve. She's seeking a patient, loving family who understands that she needs a little time to adjust to new environments. With her medium energy level and flexible routine, she’s ready to fit right into her forever home. This charming girl is also in excellent health, weighing a healthy 75 pounds, and comes fully prepared for adoption with up-to-date vaccinations, spaying, microchipping, and crate training all completed. Does Zipper sound like the perfect addition to your family? Imagine the snuggles and fun waiting just for you! Why not let those endless kisses be for you? To inquire about adopting Zipper, please contact adopt@joyfulpets.com! Could Zipper be your new best friend?

Story
Meet Hugo! A striking six-year-old American Bully from Phoenix, AZ, whose muscular frame and captivating blue and fawn brindle coat make him impossible to miss. Beneath his powerful exterior lies a mellow, food-loving companion who’s ready to lounge around the house or yard but also enjoys a good walk when the opportunity arises. Hugo is a smart boy, knowing an impressive set of commands like “sit,” “lay down,” “stay,” “come,” “leave it,” and even “speak.” He’s leash-trained, making walks a pleasure for both you and him. However, Hugo's journey has come with a few challenges. He has experienced two biting incidents, both of which happened when his personal space was unexpectedly invaded. In one instance, a family member tried to grab his water bowl, startling him. The second time, a loud noise caused him to react when someone leaned over him on the couch. Both situations highlight the importance of respecting Hugo’s space and working with him to overcome his triggers. Hugo has been evaluated by a behaviorist who believes that with time, training, and consistency, he can be rehabilitated. His new family will need to be patient, experienced, and committed to helping him feel safe in his surroundings. Hugo thrives in a routine that provides structure and stability. He enjoys his meal first thing in the morning and is happy to go for a walk whenever you are. When not out and about, Hugo is content lounging around and keeping things low-key. His calm demeanor and laid-back attitude are some of his most endearing qualities. A fenced yard is a must for him, as he can be a bit too enthusiastic when he spots small animals to chase. Because Hugo doesn’t get along well with other dogs or cats, he would do best in a home where he’s the only pet. His new pet parent should have the time and desire to continue his training and help him overcome his past triggers, ensuring that Hugo can grow into a confident, well-adjusted companion. Could you be the one to give Hugo the love, structure, and guidance he needs? Reach out today at adopt@joyfulpets.com to meet him!

Story
Penny is truly the sweetest family dog. She is calm and gentle. Penny is very affectionate and LOVES people. Penny loves getting pets and belly rubs. She is a pit bull mix about 6 years young with a beautiful copper-colored coat (hence her name Penny!). Our sweet Penny was in the Carson animal shelter for 6 months before she received her final notice. She was rescued late February this year, and she's been living with me (her current foster mom) for a little over 4 months.    Penny is happy just sitting next to anyone in the family. She's not a fan of long walks but she enjoys short walks and loves lounging in the sun. Penny is house trained and is very good at some tricks. Penny is not the best with other dogs but she may be able to live with another calm large dog with training. Penny has some skin allergies so she takes apoquel regularly and currently eats a mix of plant-based and fish-based food. Penny would be an amazing family dog!    ##1635113##

Meet Clara Cupcake, a delightful 4-year-old English Bulldog with a sweet disposition and a heart of gold. Clara Cupcake was rescued on the very day she was scheduled to be euthanized, having been used for breeding and then abandoned at a shelter. Clara Cupcake is a lovable couch potato who enjoys lounging around and relaxing in the comfort of her home. She gets along well with both other dogs and cats, making her a great addition to a multi-pet household. However, Clara Cupcake can be protective of her space and family, so she needs slow and gentle introductions to new people within her home. She might get a bit nippy when meeting new faces indoors, but she’s perfectly fine meeting people outside the house. With her calming presence and affectionate nature, Clara Cupcake is looking for a loving home where she can enjoy a comfortable, laid-back lifestyle and receive the care and patience she deserves. Meet Daisy, a charming 8-year-old English Bulldog with a heart full of love and a friendly spirit. Daisy is a social butterfly who gets along wonderfully with both dogs and cats and is great with everyone she meets. Her affectionate nature shines through in her love for snuggling and being close to her human friends. Daisy is currently recovering from TPLO surgery on her right knee and will soon undergo a second TPLO surgery and hip surgery on her left side. Despite her past cruciate tears and hip dysplasia, her prognosis after recovery is very promising, and she’s showing her resilient spirit every day. Due to poultry allergies, Daisy is on a beef-only diet, but aside from that, she has no other medical concerns. She’s an intelligent and quick learner, making her a joy to train and interact with. Daisy’s loving and gentle demeanor makes her a perfect companion for anyone looking to share their home with a sweet and resilient dog.
