Story
Ginger is a sweet, gentle senior lady who found herself back at PACC after several years away. Her person moved and was and unable to take her along, so Ginger really needs to find a new forever home. The shelter is no place for an older dog! In her former home, Ginger did well with other dogs and young kids, and was described as affectionate and playful. She loves toys, car rides and swimming. Ginger was unfortunately kept outdoors in her last home, so one main requirement for her future home is that she be welcomed indoors to be near her family. Ginger spent time in a foster home and we learned the following:- Ginger did great with kids and small dogs- She knows `sit` and `down` and is eager to please- She’s very sweet and just loves to be with her people.- She LOVES to cuddle and is very affectionate- She likes chew toys- She’s well-behaved - She’s a loving companion and will literally be your shadowDuring another foster stay Ginger was described as friendly, cuddly, and very easy to walk. She was well- behaved when left alone, loves chew bones, and was housebroken. She loved to nap the day away and sleep near her person at night. Here’s what one shelter volunteer said about Ginger:“I spent time with Ginger and found her to be a lovely girl. She is super sweet and easy to be with. She is easy to leash up and walk and she really enjoys and appreciates human companionship. We spent time in the yard, and she enjoyed exploring and getting in the pool. She was very good about coming to me when I called her name and she sat gently beside me and couldn`t seem to get enough petting. She likes treats and will sit for them. This tender-hearted girl is a gem and sure deserves a stable forever home.”And, as an added bonus to all of her other wonderful qualities, Ginger also has just about the cutest underbite in all of Tucson!! She’s been appropriate, tolerant, easygoing, and even a bit playful when meeting other dogs in playgroup. No cats please! Ask to meet Ginger today!!

Story
Bessie is a special girl looking for a very special adopter- someone who understands her needs and can keep her safe. She’s an affectionate playful dog who originally came to PACC with a pal in 2020. In her prior home she was housebroken and her owners described her as a very sweet girl who loves hot dogs, playing, and snuggling. Bessie was adopted two more times after her initial return to the shelter but hasn`t found her perfect fit. In her most recent home, she did well with other resident dogs (big and small), was housebroken, and was described as a sweet, playful girl who loves squeaky toys. “Bessie is a LOVE with her person. Playful. Affectionate. Sweet. She rocks the muzzle. It`s hard to reconcile that dog with the dog she is when meeting people on leash, which she struggles with tremendously. She needs a home where she has guidance every step of the way.”- PACC volunteer“Bessie takes time to warm up to new people, new dogs, and new situations, but once you are her friend, she will be your friend for life. Bessie will need an experienced partner to help her adjust, but with a little patience she will gain confidence and become a loving, loyal, and trusted companion.”- PACC volunteerBessie is struggling in the shelter environment and is looking for an experienced, savvy owner. She`ll do best in a quiet home without constant activity and visitors. She`s done well sharing her kennel with another shelter pup, but she’ll need a proper introduction to any resident dogs. If you can help give Bessie the stability she needs and deserves, and can work with her on building confidence and modifying her behavior in new situations, please ask about her today!Email to ask about her!Megan: Megan.Lumpkin@pima.govJamie: Jamie.Macias@pima.gov

Story
Coco is a sweet, snuggly lady looking for a soft and cozy landing place. She has arthritis in her elbows and takes daily medications to manage her pain. She would be so grateful for a loving family to spoil her! Here’s what volunteers have said:“I met Coco for the first time tonight and she was immediately friendly and seemed so happy to get some attention. She was easy to leash up and was not at all reactive to other dogs we passed. We went to a yard where she just wanted to stay right with me and get cuddled and loved on. She takes treats gently and gave me some gentle kisses in return. She is so affectionate and sweet! Coco is an absolute doll.”“Coco is just wonderful. After taking care of business she had a great loose leash walk and was an extreme sniffer- she just loves to sniff! She also enjoyed being petted and sat nicely for treats which she took very gently. She was well behaved, sweet, and mellow and got along well with her kennelmates. Looking forward to spending time with her again.”Coco shares her kennel politely and has been easygoing and sweet when meeting other dogs in playgroup. Ask to meet Coco today!!

Story
Mr. Darcy waiting for his forever home! While in foster, we learned quite a bit about this snuggle-happy dog. Wants nothing more than to snuggle with his human 100% housebroken Non-destructive Crate trained (typically left out during the day, but he`s great in a crate when needed) Very mellow A+ kisser Fantastic on a leash, but happy to chill in a yard Have I mentioned the pro-cuddle game he has going on?Mr. Darcy has made huge leaps in his health while in foster - he`s eating well now, gained some weight back, and has gotten his cough under control. We`ve figured out a routine to help keep him on the right track and he`s been recovering beyond what we expected! He has a history of valley fever which should be monitored for reoccurence. I cannot stress just how sweet this boy is. He lives to snuggle and cuddle and give kisses and nap. Mr. Darcy may prefer to be an only dog or meet any resident dogs before going home.

Story
Benny is a long-term shelter resident and the fact that he hasn’t been scooped up yet has us all baffled! This happy, belly- rub- loving goofball has a reputation for being friendly and easygoing. In fact, the one thing Benny’s former people were adamant about was just how much Benny loves people! Benny has been waiting for a new family for quite a while now and has showed some pretty remarkable resilience and an unwavering positive outlook. He loves his volunteer friends, his daily walks in the parks, cuddles on the couch in our “real life” room, and those belly rubs I mentioned before. His volunteer friends have a habit of singing to him, and his favorite song is the Elton John classic, Bennie and the Jets (we haven’t told him it’s not spelled the same).Benny will likely do best as your one and only, but this big meatball has a big heart to match his size and has plenty of love to spread around. He’s a strong boy and would love an active family where he can go on adventures and get out and see the world. He does not want to see cats though- yuck. He’ll need a kitty free happily ever after. “Benny is a gem. He`s a big boy, but he`s a gentle giant. He`s young and energetic but has walked well on leash for me and listens to commands/corrections. He`s another guy that really enjoys his human company and would be great for a young active person/family. He also enjoys taking breaks during our walks around the lake to sniff around and enjoy some snacks.” – PACC volunteer“Benny is one of my favorite dogs to walk. He is easy to leash and a good walker. We usually take an extra long walk and he likes to look around and sniff all the many smells. He listens well and is very attuned to his walker. Benny is also affectionate and enjoys petting and giving kisses and he takes treats very gently and sits for them.”- PACC volunteerAsk about Benny today!
