Story
Oh, Nyx....where do I begin. This girl is a special one! She came to us when our vet asked us to take in a special needs puppy. Nyx was born with hydrocephalus and the breeder didn't want her so she surrendered Nyx to our vet. Her hydrocephalus doesn't affect her health in any way now but we believe it has affected her personality. Nyx is a very special girl who will need a VERY special adopter. One who is patient and calm and willing to accept Nyx for who she is! Nyx wants affection on her terms but will run from you if you try to pick her up. You have to go low and slow so she won't run from you. Nyx will HAVE to have a fenced in yard for that very reason - if she got out you probably wouldn't get her to come back to you. Nyx likes other dogs but doesn't really know how to play with them and can mean to them when she's just trying to get them to play. We think all of her quirks are a direct result of her hydrocephalus. She can be so loving, but she is definitely a quirky one! Nyx will do best with older children or a quiet household. Story
Anna is a 9 year old, 10lb adorable Chug (chihuahua/pug mix) who has endured some big human turmoil recently and ended up in a Middle Tennessee shelter. Not much is known of her history, but her underweight condition indicates at least some neglect took place. A really devoted foster mom for Critter.Cavalry Rescue noticed her profile in the shelter and realized that being a senior she might not be chosen very easily by the general public.  This young foster woman is making sure that Anna has everything she needs. She used to be timid at first and a little wary of quick movements but all that has changed and she is miss independent, confident and amazing in her whole personality turn around.  She wants to be by your side and your best snuggle buddy now. Anna has some spunk and can run up stairs as fast as any puppy. She is good with other dogs and initiates playing and loves puppies!   She is finally starting to play with toys and it's so wonderful to see her discovering that side to her personality. She used to be so serious and sad. She does well on a leash and going outside. She is potty trained and crate trained and she loves her crate as a getaway space.  We are wanting someone who works from home or is retired and nit gone long long hours daily. If you're looking for a special lap dog in your life that really needs you, please consider adopting our precious nine month,12 pound, Chiweenie named Bella. This darling little 'Elf' of a dog is certain to bring the greatest joy and love to someone's life. She is well trained already at such a young age and has not really been in a good safe home for very long.  Bella is housebroken and crate, trained and has a wonderful way of fitting in to a household that already has diva small dogs living there.   She enjoys being in the backyard fetching a ball and bringing it back to you and playing a little bit of tug of war and getting stronger at that everyday. When she has exhausted herself with play, she is ready to snuggle right up next to you or climb in your lap and take a well earned nap.
