DECEMBER UPDATE!
Chloe is still available for adoption! She needs an experience dog owner who wants a project dog. Someone who can give Chloe the time and space she needs to adjust to her new people and surroundings. Chloe is a sweet, sweet girl, but she has had trust issues (no fault of her own.) When dogs are not properly socialized as young dogs, they simply do not know how to accept strangers. Trust is something that needs to be built over time, it does not happen overnight! Chloe's perfect home would be a person or couple who are very dog experienced, who know the Eskie breed, who have the time and patience to work with Chloe. Working with a dog like this pays off tenfold, because every little accomplishment is priceless! One Chloe has bonded, she is very devoted, very cooperative, and will be a great companion. Chloe has been with us for over a year now because no one wants to take a chance, no one wants to work for the end goal, it's so very sad. She is doing fine in her foster home, but she would love to have her own home, a home that she doesn't have to share the attention with multiple dogs. Chloe would prefer to be an only pet in her new home, she simply doesn't like hanging with other dogs! She has gotten tolerant in her foster home, but will retreat to another room instead of sharing space with other dogs. As far as cats, it would depend on the cat, Chloe does not like to interact with other animals, so if the cat is very social, it would jot be a good fit, but if you have a cat that is a recluse, it may work just fine. Please consider Chloe for you next dog and complete our adoption application at: www.chicagolandeskierescue.com
Chloe is available for adoption! She is an adorable Standard Eskie, weighing about 22-23 lbs., 8 years old, and she beats to her own drum! Chloe is very slow to accept new people into her world; she's a loving sweetheart once she does!
Too meet Chloe, you must first complete an adoption application and you must have Eskie/rescue dog experience, no exceptions! Most likely, Chloe will not allow anyone to touch her upon a first meeting, so you must be OK with that! Chloe has issues with touching her collar and leashing her, but she is very smart and cooperative to calling her to go outside, to come back inside, so we prefer a securely fenced yard for her adoption. It doesn't have to be a huge yard!! Once Chloe is established and bonded, she will allow leashing and she LOVES her walks! Chloe is crate trained, housebroken, a good eater, and very treat motivated! She loves her crate, it is her safe space, so no need to tell us how you don't believe in "cages." Plus, she comes with her crate and bed! Chloe does not like other dogs; she wants to be an only pet! She has learned to "tolerate" the other dogs in her foster home, but she does not want to spend time with them! Chloe would rather retreat to another room then have to be in the same room as the other dogs, namely the other Eskies/dogs that she sees as her "competition." In other words, she is OK with CER Fitz, an older senior boy who sleeps a lot, but as soon as he wakes up and starts walking around, she will leave the room. LOL! Yes, she can and will jump baby gates!
Chloe likes to have order and a routine, she has defined the phrase, "a creature of habit!" She wants to know what she can count on; she is not a dog that wants a new adventure every day! She can tell time and knows when certain things are supposed to happen and thrives on that schedule! (aka breakfast and dinner time!) Chloe does have a playful side, but on her terms! She enjoys her toys and loves, loves, loves a good chew bone. Once bonded, she LOVES belly rubs, especially in the early morning (after breakfast!) and later in the day, before bedtime. She sleeps in her crate and loves pushing and arranging her blanket before settling in! It's too cute!
