Meet Parker, a 7-year-old American Eskimo/Husky mix with a heart full of sweetness and a touch of nervousness. Adopted in 2018, Parker found himself back at the rescue when his previous owner ended up in jail, prompting a call to us to help him find a new forever home. Parker is a gentle and affectionate dog who quickly forms strong bonds with his person. While he can be a bit nervous and flighty at first, he’s incredibly loving once he feels secure. He gets along well with other dogs and has no medical concerns, making him a well-rounded and healthy companion. If you’re looking for a sweet, loyal dog who will become deeply attached to you and needs a little time to settle in, Parker is ready to bring his love and warmth into your life. Give this loving pup the chance he deserves, and he’ll reward you with unwavering affection and companionship.

Can you believe this little fella lived his life outside secured to a chain? Zeus is one of the most sensitive and devoted doggies and so well behaved in the house! He mastered house training in a matter of days and does not get into mischief when his parents are gone. He is crate trained but really prefers to be near people as he is a snuggle bug! The vet estimted him to be between 2 and 3 years and he weighs around 20 pounds. Zeus is friendly with new people and isn't fearful at all! He's a happy little dude and full of affection! In his foster home, Zeus gets along with the wide array of other doggies in the home and seemed to fit right in and feel comfortable from the very start.He even made friends with the other small male dog in the house who typcially does not like other male dogs. His foster mom reports that Zeus is submissive and deferential to him and clearly just wants to be friends! He would be fine as an only dog or with a doggie pal. Zeus has enjoyed the snow and is eager to go out exploring the snow tunnels. You will find his happy demeanor bringing a smile to your face and your heart too! Very sweet! The vet thought he might be a Spitz / Corgi mix. Hi, I'm Stormy! I'm a social butterfly- knowing no stranger. I'm a 1 year old Pomeranian/Blue Heeler mix. I was adopted 3 months ago and returned to the shelter (no fault of my own) on my 1 year birthday. I'm sweet, charming, playful and full of energy. Take me home and let's have fun! If you're interested in adopting me, fill out an adoption application online at www.polkcountyhumanesociety.org/adopt where you will also find a link to reserve me for an appointment. Some pets are in foster homes or may already have an appointment scheduled, so the appointment is important to make sure I will be available to meet you when you come. Polk County Humane Society is located in Bolivar, Missouri, but also makes transports to the Denver, CO, Des Moines, IA and St. Louis areas twice monthly. For potential adopters in those areas, we can do a virtual visit using FaceTime or another app. Just request an appointment using the same link, but note that you want the visit to be virtual. We will call you at the time of the visit once it is confirmed. For long distance transports to Colorado and Iowa, there is an additional $100 fee to cover the cost of the transport ($65) and a health certificate from a veterinarian ($35). For transports to St. Louis, the additional fee is $50 to help cover gas. Going that last mile home for our sweet pets! All of our pets are neutered or spayed, have vaccinations appropriate for their age, treated with flea/tick/heartworm prevention, dewormed and dogs are also microchipped. #adoptdontshop ##2204949##
