Story
Hi my name is Sadie. I'm a 8 year old Merle Cocker Spaniel and looking for my people. I was originally a breeding dog and was adopted about 2 years ago. My Dad got really sick and Mom has too much to do. I'd love a home where my people are around a lot, cause I follow my foster Mom around the house. I need to lose some weight with some exercise. Please apply to adopt me at: www.nbstr.orgI'm being fostered in Sturdevant, Wisconsin

Story
Meet Penguin, a 4yr old female Spaniel/ mini-poodle mix. Penguin came to us through a breeder release, and her early life was unpleasant. Now she lives with a foster and is adapting to home life, including walking on a leash and playing with toys. She's working on housebreaking. Penguin never learned how to interact with people, and is quite shy (but curious). Her foster is working with her, and she's warming up slowly. Penguin likes other dogs and follows the lead of her foster's dog. Penguin is looking for a special person with a lot of patience, willing to work with her as she overcomes her fears and acclimates to her new life. She needs the companionship of another well-socialized dog. She would do best in an adults only home. Do you have experience working with scared dogs? Are you willing to give her a second chance to have a happy life? If so, please fill out an application so we can schedule a time to meet her.Adoption fee is $320Email: dogs@almosthomefoundation.orgAlmost Home Foundation's adoption requirements:(1) Be at least 21 years of age;(2) Have the consent of all adults living in the household;(3) Have approval from the residence owner;(4) Have valid ID with current address;(5) Be approved by Almost Home Foundation as a suitable adoptive home; and`(6) Live in the suburbs surrounding Schaumburg (Illinois Residents only)*** Please note that Almost Home Foundation accepts only cash or checks for adoption fees; we do not accept debit or credit cards. ***

Story
Meet Norma Jean, an adult female cocker spaniel breeder release. She is looking for a foster or forever home -- but not just any home will work for her! Please read on.Norma Jean seems to have had very, very little contact with humans in her past and is still working on building trust with people. She has made progress in her temporary foster home and will seek out attention if her people are sitting on the couch, but other movements will cause her to flee. She is good with other dogs (and would likely do best with a confident dog in her home) and birds; cat compatibility is unknown. Norma Jean requires a fenced-in backyard because she is not leash trained. She is still working on potty-training. Norma Jean does fine in a crate, but you have to pick her up and put her in it.Norma Jean still has a long way to go and needs a home with patient, dog-savvy people who have the time and willingness to work with her and will keep her safe (scared, unsocialized dogs are always a flight risk). If you're interested in giving Norma Jean a home, please fill out an application.Adoption fee is $320Email: dogs@almosthomefoundation.orgAlmost Home Foundation's adoption requirements:(1) Be at least 21 years of age;(2) Have the consent of all adults living in the household;(3) Have approval from the residence owner;(4) Have valid ID with current address;(5) Be approved by Almost Home Foundation as a suitable adoptive home; and`(6) Live in the suburbs surrounding Schaumburg (Illinois Residents only)*** Please note that Almost Home Foundation accepts only cash or checks for adoption fees; we do not accept debit or credit cards. ***

Story
Felicity joined AHF from a breeder release situation. She has been "shut down" for quite a while, just wanting to hide. She is finally starting to show some interest in coming out for pets or to play, but any sudden movement or noise will still send her running. She has recently learned that chew toys are fun. She is the sweetest thing and wouldn't harm a fly. She is, for the most part, potty trained. She sleeps in bed with her foster mom and asks for help up on the bed each night. Felicity is looking for a home with another dog that can show her all the fun things a dog's life should be. She has never had that before. She loves every dog she meets! Has not been cat tested but is so docile, she should be good.Adoption fee is $320Email: dogs@almosthomefoundation.orgAlmost Home Foundation's adoption requirements:(1) Be at least 21 years of age;(2) Have the consent of all adults living in the household;(3) Have approval from the residence owner;(4) Have valid ID with current address;(5) Be approved by Almost Home Foundation as a suitable adoptive home; and`(6) Live in the suburbs surrounding Schaumburg (Illinois Residents only)*** Please note that Almost Home Foundation accepts only cash or checks for adoption fees; we do not accept debit or credit cards. ***
