Come meet Bluebell and other great adoptable dogs this Sunday (1/12/25) from 12-3 pm at the PetSmart in Rockville, MD (5154 Nicholson Ln, Kensington, MD 20895)! Follow Bluebell on Instagram at https://www.instagram.com/brightspot2024. Name: Bluebell Best Guess for Breed: Bulldog mix Best Guess for Age: 6 years as of January 2025 SEX: Female Approximate Weight: 38 lbs See Bluebell on Instagram: @BrightSpot2024 Gets Along With: Bluebell loves her people more than anything and would like to be the only dog in the home. Bluebell is not a good fit for homes with children or cats. Currently Living at: DC area foster home Special adoption considerations: Bluebell is a true bulldog with a strong prey drive and prefers to fly solo, so she must be the only pet in the home. Bluebell is working on her leash reactivity and manners when around other dogs, so her adoption includes sponsored training classes with Atlas Dog House to support her new adopters in helping Bluebell be her best self. Her fosters have been taking her to training Atlas and she's been making progress, but she'll need a patient & dedicated adopter willing to continue working with her. Because of her breed and the brachycephalic issue, Bluebell must be walked using a harness and she cannot be out in the heat too long or she will have difficulty breathing. Bluebell had some skin issues when she first arrived, but it's been well managed with a limited-ingredient Salmon dog food. She'll likely need to continue on her special food. All About Bluebell: Bluebell's favorite creatures on earth are her humans, and she wants nothing more than to have her own. This is what her fosters say about her: 'Bluebell is really great - very sweet, so smart and expressive, just an absolute sweetheart. She settled in very quickly and all she wants to do is be near or with her people all day. She is happy in her bed under my desk while I work from home and would do well with an adopter that's home most of the time. She promises to be a great telework companion! She is happy on the sofa next to my mum during the day, watching tv and 'helping' my mum with her quilting projects. She is happy hanging out with my husband when he works from home. In the home, she is incredibly easy as long as she has regular opportunities for bathroom breaks. She's great in her crate and keeps it clean. She loves to sleep, follow us around the house, and play with puzzle toys. She also has at least one round of Zoomies every evening that involves running from one end of the house to the other. She very rarely barks, but has lots of utterly adorable bully snores and snorts. On leash, well, she would much prefer to remain tucked up in bed in the morning when it is cold out but once she is outside and walking, she loves her walks. She will happily walk for up to 45 minutes in areas like Jones Point, or just do a quick walk around the block (which is perfect when it's very cold for the humans too!). She's not fond of dogs coming up to her to say hi or looking at her on walks. Training in that area is going well - she is so eager to please - and we're working on having her focus on us and ignore the other dog. Bluebell is a huge lovebug who is devoted to her humans and wants to be the only 'baby' in the home. She has a true bulldog personality with protective tendencies towards her humans. Her fosters are working on teaching her that she doesn't have to be as concerned with 'stranger danger.' Overall Bluebell is a lover when it comes to her people - with an abundance of adoring gazes, snuggles, and loyal companionship. What do you say? Is this scrunched-face, snorty sweetie the one for your home and your heart? Lucky Dog cannot guarantee any dog is housebroken. All of our dogs are working on their crate training.
