Name: Bluebell Best Guess for Breed: Bulldog mix Best Guess for Age: 5 years 9 months as of Sept 2024 SEX: Female Approximate Weight: 33 lbs See Bluebell on Instagram: @BrightSpot2024 Gets Along With: Bluebell loves her people more than anything and would like to be the only dog in the home. Bluebell is not a good fit for homes with children or cats. Currently Living at: DC area foster home Special adoption considerations: Bluebell is a true bulldog with a strong prey drive and prefers to fly solo, so she must be the only pet in the home. Bluebell's adoption includes sponsored training classes with Atlas Dog House to support her new adopters in helping Bluebell be her best self. Because of her breed and the brachycephalic issue, Bluebell must be walked using a harness and she cannot be out in the heat too long or she will have difficulty breathing. About Bluebell: Bluebell is a curious, smart girl who’s looking for a family that will share in her joy for life. She's been working hard on her obedience and comes with sponsored training sessions at Atlas Doghouse so her future adopters can help Bluebell be her best self! Will you be the one to give this spirited bulldog babe the love and adventures she deserves? A Spirited Lady Bluebell may be nearly 6 years old, but she’s still full of energy and enthusiasm for life! This sweet bulldog loves nothing more than spending time with her people, whether it’s joining you on an adventure, enjoying a treat, or curling up on the couch for some cozy snuggles. Playful and Active Despite her age, Bluebell loves playtime and thrives on multiple short walks throughout the day to burn off her energy. She’s a curious and smart girl who has worked hard to improve her leash manners, and she’s come a long way. Just be mindful of her in warmer weather—she’ll need those breaks to avoid overheating. A True Lover Bluebell's favorite thing is cuddly up to her humans on the couch and showering them with kisses. Once she decides that you're her person, you'll never have a more loyal companion. She very rarely barks, but has lots of bully snores and snorts. She enjoys treats and a good scratch to her ears and belly as well as cuddling up on the couch with her family when it's time to rest. She knows basic obedience and loves to give snuggles. All she wants to do is be near to / with her people. She is happy in her bed under my desk while I work from home. She is happy on the sofa next to my mum during the day, watching tv and 'helping' my mum with her quilting projects. She is happy hanging out with my husband when he works from home. While she would much prefer to remain tucked up in bed in the morning, once she is outside and walking, she loves her walks. She does require bribing on occasion to get her to leave her warm bed and blankets :). She will happily walk for up to 45 minutes (she loves Jones Point) or just do a quick walk around the block. She is incredibly easy at home. She loves to sleep, follow us around the house, and play with puzzle toys. She also has at least one Zoomies every evening that involves running from one end of the house to the other and jumping on and off the sofa. She's an enthusiastic eater and tends to eat too fast. She can't use a normal slow feeder because her snout is so short, so we pace her eating so we pace her eating during meals by giving her 1/2 cup then waiting a few minutes and giving her the other 1/2 cup. She does have some dog reactivity on the leash but at this point it primarily is when the other dog wants to engage with her and/or looks at her, and, even then, she is getting much better at focusing her attention on us and not the dog. We are also meeting with a trainer on Monday to help her work through these issues. Overall, she's been a total lovebug and a polite house guest! Lucky Dog cannot guarantee any dog is housebroken. All of our dogs are working on their crate training. TO ADOPT: The adoption fee for this dog is $460, which includes the cost of routine vetting, including vaccinations and spay/neuter.
