Story
Please contact Courtney Nobles (courtneyn@luckydoganimalrescue.org) for more information about this pet.Sweet older gent seeking happily ever after! CARL NEEDS A FOREVER HOME!!!! Name: Carl        Best Guess for Breed: Bulldog and hound mix  Best Guess for Age:  7 years as of October 2024      Gender: Male Approximate Weight:46 lbs Gets Along With: Carl does well with other dogs and cats! We haven't seen him with kids but he can be tested! Currently Living At: DC area foster home. Carl is Looking For: His forever home. This sweetie ended up in a shelter through no fault of his own - and he's closed that chapter. He's eager to once again have his own humans for long sniffy walks and all the adventures they can dream up. Don't let that frosty face fool you - he's got plenty of zest!  A cushy dog bed, quality kibble, lots of snugs - yep, all on his wish list too. But as a wise, experienced dog, he knows what's most important in life: To be safe and loved and under his own roof. He's got so much to offer in exchange - adoring gazes and loyal companionship, definitely, but he also promises to make you smile every day. What do you say? Are you Carl's soft landing? Is he the one for your home and your heart? What My Foster Says About Me: Carl has the cutest, squishy face and has been adjusting to my house of dogs and cats! He really likes the cats the best, but they might not feel the same. Carl loves his dog bed and recently discovered the toy bin! How has this guy gone through his whole life without having his own toy - all dogs, especially older gents like Carl should have buckets and buckets of toys but he is hopeful he will have them in his new home :-)  He has done great with house breaking and crate training, loves to get pets, and hasn't met a stranger yet. If you're looking for a low-key, snuggle buddy, Carl is your boy!  Special Adoption Considerations: Carl is a truly Lucky Dog! He tested positive for Heartworm disease but has already been treated! Heartworm is not contagious to people or other pets, but results from mosquito bites.  Heartworm, if left untreated, is life threatening, but after treatment, dogs that were heartworm positive should suffer no significant long-term effects so long as they are kept on a monthly heartworm preventative. We are happy to talk more in depth about heartworm disease and treatment during the screening process.Carl arrived into our care with a couple of tumors that have remained stable and slow growing. We consulted a specialist and are following their recommendation to monitor those areas for now. We will be happy to discuss this in greater detail with potential adopters. Lucky Dog cannot guarantee any dog is housebroken.  All of our dogs are working on their crate training.  TO ADOPT: The adoption fee for this dog is $475, which includes the cost of routine vetting, including vaccinations, spay/neuter, and heartworm treatment.  If you are interested in adopting, please complete the Adoption Questionnaire online at bit.ly/adoptaluckydog Lucky Dog Animal Rescue does our best to provide accurate information about the dogs we have for adoption. That said, we cannot make any guarantees about age, breed or temperament.  Thank you for contacting Lucky Dog Animal Rescue and helping to save a life! Story
Male, 4.5 years, 70 lbs. Personality: easygoing, outgoing, playful, loyal, energetic, affectionate, adventurous, mischievous, and adaptable. Rocco is the epitome of a love bug, always eager to join in on the fun whether it's playing in the yard or cuddling on the couch watching TV. His adaptable nature means he can match your energy level, whether you're seeking a playful companion or a laid-back snuggle buddy. While he enjoys his adventures in the back yard, he's equally content relaxing indoors, taking cues from his human companions. With his adventurous spirit and affectionate personality, Rocco will bring joy and laughter to his forever home. Rocco has shown himself to be a well-behaved and loving companion at home. He is still learning what to do with a ball, but delights the young children in his foster home by playing in the house and the yard. He's gentle with the kids and is more than happy to clean up any food they accidentally drop on the floor! Rocco has made great progress on house training, does well in his crate, and already knows the words "no," "sit," and "crate". He definitely shows a willingness to learn and grow. Rocco loves toys, especially chew toys, and they keep his mind stimulated throughout the day. Rocco is choosy with his canine friends and would do best as the only pet in your home, with a fenced yard big enough for him to run and play in. If you're ready for a loyal and energetic companion, Rocco just might be the match for you. If you are interested in meeting a dog or cat, we require an adoption application. Story
Bella loves people and children. She is 5 years old old. She’s an escape artist. I am a 73 year old widow, and even with thousands of dollars spent to try to secure my large yard, she still manages to find some way to get out. She frightens the neighbors, because she looks like a pitbull. I have been threatened with lawsuits. I can not afford that. She would be great as a companion and security dog.

Story
Our big boy Draco has been in the family since birth . He’s 3 years old and has such a loving big personality. He’s doesn’t bark unless there’s danger . He loves children. He’s not a cat kind of guy. He’s very funny with his face expressions you’ll honestly think he’s human. He was an emotional service pet so he’s very in-tuned. We want him to have a safe space to thrive with a decent family and not be abused and mistreated on any level. He requires patience just like anything is this world. He listens and he needs a family that will listen to him. Are you that family?

Story
Dulce is a very friendly and fun-loving gal. She is extremely social with all people and all animals, but she really lights up when there are kids around. She can be a bit too in your face at times.... but she's still young and inquisitive. She is learning boundaries along with tons of other commands since she's a very smart cookie. And even though her videos show her happy, active side she definitely knows how to chill out and cuddle.

To learn more about King, please contact dogs@lostdogrescue.org King will be attending one of our adoption events coming up this weekend! To learn more about our upcoming events and to see which event he will be attending, please visit our event page at https://www.lostdogrescue.org/events/ (*please note that the specific event pages are typically updated on Fridays with information on which dogs will be attending which events*) Hi! I'm King. I am loving, loyal, and - ok, you made me say it - very handsome. Oh, and did I mention that I am looking for a best friend to adopt me? I like leash walks, especially in calm and quiet spaces where we can spend some quality time together without the crowds. But, I may get distracted by all of the wonderful smells because I really do need to put my nose on everything to explore the wonders of the world. Not only am I curious, I am up for a challenge! I like to run across streams, jump on logs, and hike the trails. I have lots of energy so will be sure to help keep up with your exercise plan. I even like to get in a jog from time to time. And, not to brag, but I am pretty smart. But, for the sake of all those delicious treats, I will pretend that it takes me time to master new tricks and skills. One more thing to tell you. I like to talk when I play. I hope you will come to meet me so we can play together forever, just you and me!
