Story
Piper has been with our family near Austin, TX, since mid-August. She was found abandoned in a parking lot during mid August, and we agreed to foster her until a home was found for her. She has improved nicely. There are some lingering health issues but we foresee a great recovery. We have noticed some early signs of hip dysplasia, so probably not going to make a great running partner. There is no doubt she has the Heart of a Lion, but she has all the loving and kind traits of a Lamb. Our family adores her and the kids have grown very fond. She is undoubtedly THE BEST foster dog thus far, and we would absolutely keep her if feasible. Her personality has grown more as she improves, and becomes more comfortable. Her quirky moments are hilarious! But overall she has a low-key personality, great temperment, obedient and smart, and yelps a bit when she thinks you've forgotten her. This girl deserves an incredible home!

Story
Jake is a real love. He is truly a companion dog. He just loves people. In fact, his favorite is to sit in the kitchen while you cook. Everything is better when Jake's around. He was rescued from California and has rebounded magnificently. He gets along with all the other dogs at the rescue and loves horses. He follows them around the ranch just like the old Texas cowboys used to do. He is current on all his vaccinations and heartworm negative. He is a very gentle dog and great on the leash. Nature trail anyone? Give us a buzz and let us introduce you to our sweet boy, Jake.May 23, 2024, 3:59 pm

Story
Introducing Moxy! A sweet, gentle, mellow lady. She is currently in a foster home with another senior dog and they get along wonderfully. Moxy is house trained and has no problem being home alone, while her foster is out and about. She is very well-mannered, not destructive and just likes to rest when she's on her own. Moxy is smart and quickly learned some basic obedience skills in her foster home. She walks nicely on a leash, enjoying all the sights and smells on her daily stroll. She is somewhat timid and needs time to acclimate to new surroundings and people. But with a slow introduction, she's happy to make new friends. Moxy is also very affectionate, and loves having her head scratched and belly rubbed! Her foster describes her as loving, sweet, giddy, playful, curious but shy, gentle and calm. She loves running around the backyard, laying in the sun, rolling around in the grass and enjoying the fresh air. Moxy snorts when she eats and snores when she sleeps. It's adorable! She will nudge and lick you for affection and will take all the love she can get. Moxy is looking for a calm home to spend her golden years in. Do you have room in your home and a place in your heart for this sweet, gentle lady? Come meet Moxy today!

Story
Dominic surely is a fitting name for this young social dog. While his foster was away for the summer, Dominic graciously shared his home with our Behavior Team. His welcoming demeanor towards dogs and new friends certainly were a "godsend". Over the summer Dominic hosted several dogs of varying sociability including: super long stay wheelie pup Emma, long stay Ruthie, spunky little Wagyu, and baby girl Nora. Dominic also fostered Clubby through heartworm treatment and they became thick as thieves. Dominic is also a playgroup rockstar here at APA! Dominic met a handful of new people over the summer including a dog savvy kid! Dominic has been in his foster home with a lovely social female dog who helped show him the ropes in the home. His doggie sister helped him grow from a puppyish boy into a fine young adult doggo. Dominic can now roam freely when his people are away and does well meeting new friends. He enjoys snuggling in bed, on the couch, or napping on his own depending on your preference. Dominic would do best in a home with a well-matched dog, but he'll also hear out other offers. Catch this cutie at the Town Lake Animal Center on Tuesdays when he comes in for doggie daycare, or click the blue button to learn more about him! Story
Meet Clubby, a resilient and affectionate dog with a heart full of love despite his challenging past. Clubby is a true cuddler who thrives on close companionship and enjoys being with people more than anything. He's a pro at loose-leash walking and relishes leisurely strolls and sightseeing adventures. Car rides are a particular highlight for him, adding a touch of excitement to his day. Clubby is crate-trained and house-trained, making him a dependable and easygoing addition to any home. While he prefers to keep his food and toys to himself, he's a gentle and non-destructive companion when left alone. Though he enjoys the company of people, Clubby has the potential to live harmoniously with other dogs, given a proper meet-and-greet to ensure compatibility. When it comes to downtime, Clubby is the ultimate couch potato, ready to snuggle up and relax. If you're looking for a loving, easygoing buddy who will appreciate both adventure and cozy evenings at home, Clubby is the perfect match.

Story
Puffy is a handsome, regal boy with the most beautiful white eyelashes. But these stunning good looks wouldn't be possible without lots of beauty rest! He'll snooze while you work from home or head out for the day, and then he'll happily join you on the sofa for some tv and cuddles. He doesn't like to get a ton of exercise, but he will go outside and pounce on his favorite blue jolly ball for a few minutes and then head back in for another nap. Puffy's dream is to be a zoo keeper - he has spent time living with cats, parrots, and giant tortoises! He has also spent lots of time working on his training. He's potty trained and knows all of his basic commands like sit, down, and place. His #1 motivation is making his people happy! Tell him he's a good boy and he'll do anything you say (treats don't hurt either). Puffy has a neurological condition that makes him a little wobbly and means he's happier in calm, quiet environments, so he would prefer to live in a low-traffic, adult-only home. He will need to remain on the first floor of his living area. Don't worry though - wobbles can't stop this happy boy from living his best life! Follow Puffy on IG @omg_its_puffy
